231 reception, evil, multiple horcruxes

"Tsk tsk tsk."

Professor Slughorn opened his mouth again. He looked up and down at Callan, his eyes filled with admiration.

"It's incredible, a superb magical talent."

"Too bad it's not in Potions."

He shook his head with regret.

After all, compared to Lily and Snape, Karan really didn't show much talent related to potions.

"In this way, you seem to be somewhat opposite to Dorcas."

He smiled and said: "When she was in school, she always made some trouble when she needed to use the wand. But you were able to successfully cast the Iron Armor Charm in the first grade."

"You know, even a lot of people working at the Ministry of Magic can't do that."

In his words, Meadows was nothing like the person he later became.

Although Karan was curious about this, his mind was not focused on this matter at this time.

"gentlemen."

He looked uneasy again: "There is also the matter of Horcruxes..."

"Oh, yes, yes."

Slughorn seemed to have just thought of this.

But Karan could tell that he seemed to be delaying the topic deliberately, as if he hadn't figured out how to talk about it yet.

But at least, the way he looked at Karan was no longer full of suspicion.

"Horcrux..."

Slughorn's beard twitched slightly.

"Don't worry, kid," he said.

"This has nothing to do with your identity. Black magic will not actively look for anyone. This is completely different from wand science."

"Don't worry though."

He only said this and stopped talking.

But Karan still looked uneasy, as if he was frightened by the word "evil."

"But, sir." He asked in a low voice: "Then why do you ask for my identity again? And twice?"

After seeing the embarrassment on Professor Slughorn's face, Callan quickly said in a panic: "I'm sorry, sir. I'm not questioning your statement - but I'm just a Muggle-born and don't understand So much about the wizarding world - and, you know, I'm an orphan."

"I don't want to die inexplicably for such a simple reason."

"Just like my parents."

When he heard the last word, Slughorn's gaze towards Karan was filled with pity. He closed his eyes in pain, then opened them again, sighing helplessly.

"Want something to drink?"

He stood up with difficulty and asked suddenly.

"I have mead, wine, and rum here. Of course, you are not old enough yet, so you can't drink these things."

He seemed to be trying to make a harmless joke to lighten the mood, but in the end he just smiled an ugly smile.

"Then just have butterbeer, it's non-alcoholic."

He poured himself a full glass of wine, then handed Callan a bottle of butterbeer.

The two of them drank sips, and no one said anything for a while.

"I'm so old and confused."

After a while, Slughorn suddenly made an inexplicable sigh.

"Don't blame me, kid." He shook his head and said, "I was really shocked when I first heard you say the word Horcrux."

"After all, you are only in your second year. I thought you heard it from...someone's mouth."

"But of course it's not possible now."

Callan immediately realized who the [someone] Slughorn was talking about was Tom Riddle.

"What you said is impossible, is it because of my identity?" Karan asked cautiously: "Because I am a Muggle-born?"

Slughorn stared at Callan, his eyes were a little distracted, and he drank inexplicably fast, and in just a moment, most of the glass was gone.

"That's right." He said slowly, as if he was lost in memories.

"That man was once my student."

"He's very good."

"Even the most outstanding student I have ever seen in all my years of teaching. Even Dorcas can't compare to him. Perhaps only the young Albus can compare with him."

"But unlike me, Albus never liked this student. On the contrary, he was always wary of this student. He even warned me many times not to get too close to this student."

When he said this, Slughorn had already drank all the wine in the glass, and he immediately poured another full glass.

It seemed that only in this way could he tell the story completely.

Karan watched this scene helplessly and did not stop him.

"I did not listen to Albus' advice."

Slughorn's next words were somewhat unexpected by Callan.

"And this student has never let me down. He was outstanding until graduation - leaving Hogwarts with many honors."

Karan frowned slightly, this was completely inconsistent with the Voldemort in his memory.

It sounds like Riddle did not ask Professor Slughorn about Horcruxes when he was in school, which did not allow him to discover Riddle's true face.

But Callan did not interrupt Slughorn's words, but continued to listen patiently.

"Unfortunately, after that, the student suddenly disappeared and never contacted me again."

"It made me sad for a while."

"I have always been very optimistic about him and thought he could achieve something."

Slughorn shook his head painfully, and he quickly drank the entire second glass of wine.

"However, he did accomplish something."

"Something... terrible."

"Rumors spread around the school, but I was always skeptical."

"I don't believe that such an outstanding student would do such a terrible thing."

"I've never made a mistake before."

Slughorn sighed heavily, and his voice gradually became lower. Callan had to work hard to hear every word he said.

"I should have trusted Albus sooner."

His tone was full of disappointment and still unbelievable shock.

"That was many years ago."

"The student returned to Hogwarts, and he came back to seek a position."

"Albus happened to not be in school at the time - he had become the Headmaster of Hogwarts and always had a lot to do."

"So, as the former dean of this student, I personally received him for a short period of time, waiting for Albus' return."

Professor Slughorn's voice was almost whispering, and he didn't notice Callan's sudden frown.

The first person to meet Riddle was no longer Principal Dumbledore, but Professor Slughorn, who had never been disappointed.

Dumbledore, on the other hand, left because of some important matters.

"He scared the shit out of me, kid."

"He opened the door and walked in."

"The moment I first met him, it became clear to me."

"Those rumors are true."

Slughorn's eyes were no longer focused on Kahlan, but were spreading out a little bit.

"It's like a face burned by fire, the blurred features are weirdly twisted like melted wax."

"Especially his eyes, which were filled with blood-like red."

"I can even see innocent souls howling in there."

Slughorn apparently didn't realize that these were not words he should say to a second-year student, who would be frightened.

But Karan was unusually quiet.

He was as motionless as a stone.

Voldemort's appearance still changed.

And he looked no different from when he was supposed to have met Dumbledore first.

"His voice was high-pitched and cold. He was no longer as polite and lovable as he once was."

"He spoke ruthlessly of his achievements, which included pushing the other side of magic to an unprecedented level."

"For example, [Horcrux]."

"He wanted to share his views on Horcruxes with me, but what could I say at that time?"

"I asked him if those rumors were true."

"He denied it."

Slughorn shook his head in pain again.

"Even though we all know this is not true, he still denies it."

"That's the end of the conversation. Albus arrived back at Hogwarts in time to take him away."

"But just like the conversation between us, the communication between them was not very smooth."

"The student failed to stay and Albus rejected him."

There was a brief silence.

Karan lowered his head slightly and narrowed his eyes slightly.

Voldemort did not ask about the Horcruxes when he was a student, but when he returned to Hogwarts again, he took this opportunity to ask about the matter.

Asking about the possibility of creating multiple Horcruxes.

"I've never told anyone about this."

Professor Slughorn suddenly whispered in a low voice.

He tried hard to focus his eyes, and he threw the empty wine bottle onto the carpet.

"Perhaps you can already guess who this student is."

Karan nodded silently and said nothing.

"You are somewhat similar. You both have superb magical talents, and you are both lovable enough."

Tears ran down his fat cheeks and into his walrus whiskers.

Slughorn gave the final reason.

"Don't be him," he said.

"Don't be that evil, kid."

The low tone was filled with countless disappointments.

He was even pleading.

Karan didn't give any reply, he just waited quietly.

When Slughorn finally fell asleep, Callan stood up silently.

He put the empty bottle and glass aside, and carefully covered Slughorn with a blanket.

Finally, he left the dean's office silently.

Still didn't say anything.
