Chapter 5 The truth about falling into the water
Qian Hua lay down again, and then pretended to be talking in a daze and shouted loudly: "Cousin, don't push me, don't push me..."
Liu, who was lying on the bedside, woke up instantly when she heard her daughter's cry. She raised her head and shouted in surprise, "Qianhuan, you finally woke up. Are you calling me mother?"
Qian Huan did not answer Liu. She continued to pretend to shout in fear: "Ah... cousin, don't push me, don't push me..."
Liu finally heard her daughter's screams clearly. She was horrified. She had always thought that her daughter had accidentally fallen into the river. Could it be, could it be Cuihua...
She didn't dare to think further, and quickly lifted the curtain to go to the cubicle to wake up her man.
"Her father..." The rest of Liu's words were stuck in her throat because Liang Lao Er had already gotten up and got out of bed.
He leaned on his crutches and slowly walked towards Qianhuan's cubicle. He had leg pain to begin with, and his sleep was light these days, so the noise here had already woken him up.
When he entered the house and heard his daughter's frightened cries, he was shocked and angry. It was late at night, and he could not care less. He immediately went to the east room with his crutches to wake up his eldest brother.
When Boss Liang arrived at Qianhuan's room, he saw his niece crying in her sleep: Cousin, don't push me, don't push me... He was also shocked. He immediately went back to his room and asked Zhu to call his daughter over.
Zhu didn't know what was going on, but she had no choice but to obey her husband's orders.
Cuihua and Zhu had just entered the house, and before they had time to figure out what was going on, they saw her father, Liang Lao Da, questioning her with a stern face: "Cuihua, tell me the truth, was it you who pushed Qianhuan into the river?"
Cuihua was extremely terrified. She had been worried that Qianhuan would tell the truth when she woke up, and she was in fear the whole night.
At this time, she also heard Qianhuan's mumbling in the room, but she still pretended to be calm and replied: "Dad, I didn't, it wasn't me who pushed her, it was Qianhuan who accidentally fell into the river."
"Second brother, there might be some misunderstanding. Although Cuihua and Qianhuan often quarrel, they are cousins after all. How could she push Qianhuan into the river?"
When Boss Liang saw Cuihua deny it, he felt relieved. Pushing someone into the river is not a trivial matter.
"Misunderstanding? If she didn't push it, why would Qianhuan shout out such words in her nightmare?" Liang Laoer didn't believe it at all.
Chen and Liang Wenjie's room was close to Liang Laoer's room. The noise here had already woken up the mother and son, and they both got up and went to Qianhuan's room.
"Cuihua, answer me honestly, were you the one who pushed Qianhuan into the river?" Liang Laoer's face was terribly gloomy.
"It wasn't me, it wasn't me, I didn't push her." Liang Cuihua was terrified when she saw Liang Laoer's furious look.
She would never admit that she was the one who pushed him, otherwise her second uncle might really beat her to death if he got angry.
"I saw it. It was my eldest cousin who pushed Sister Qianhuan into the river." A clear boy's voice came in. It was the voice of Liang Wenjie who followed Chen to the door of the house.
Chen immediately covered her son's mouth. She usually didn't fight or argue, and never cared about the open or secret struggles at home. Even if she knew something, she pretended not to know. She didn't expect her son to say such words tonight.
"Wenjie, what nonsense are you talking about? I didn't push Qianhuan at all. She fell in by herself." Cuihua glared at Wenjie and tried her best to argue.
The noise here also woke up Old Man Liang and Old Lady Liang. The two old people got up from the bed and walked towards Qianhuan's room. They were just one step slower than Chen and Wenjie, so the old couple just happened to hear Wenjie's testimony and Cuihua's rebuttal.
Old man Liang lifted the curtain and entered the small compartment. Cuihua was so scared when she saw Old man Liang come in that she trembled all over.
Old Man Liang glared at her, then walked forward, squatted down and looked at his grandson Wenjie. He asked lovingly, "Wenjie, tell grandpa, how did cousin Qianhuan fall into the river?"
"Dad, Wenjie is still young, how could he know. What a child says cannot be trusted." Chen was busy trying to smooth things over. Liang Laosan was not at home, and she did not want to offend her eldest sister-in-law and her family.
"Children's words are the most truthful. Wenjie, tell grandpa what you saw." Old man Liang continued to coax his grandson to tell the truth.
"Grandpa, my eldest cousin asked sister Qianhuan to go play by the river this afternoon. I wanted to go with them, but she wouldn't let me, so I could only follow them secretly. When we got to the river, I saw my eldest cousin standing behind sister Qianhuan and pushing her into the river. My eldest cousin was so scary at that time. I was afraid that she would find me and push me into the river, so I quickly ran back and asked my neighbor Tiedan to call for help to rescue sister Qianhuan."
Although Liang Wenjie is only 8 years old, he is smart and speaks very logically.
Old Man Liang asked Cuihua with a gloomy face: "Now, what else do you have to say?"
"Grandpa, I didn't mean it, I really didn't mean it..." The facts were before her, leaving Cuihua no room for excuses. She tremblingly repeated that she didn't mean it.
When Boss Liang saw that it was really Cuihua who did it, he secretly thought something was wrong.
His second brother usually loves Qianhuan the most. Now Cuihua pushed Qianhuan into the river and she is lying on the bed with no clear answer for her life or death. It is unknown how his second brother will treat Cuihua. His father, Old Man Liang, also hates family members harming each other the most.
With his mind racing, he immediately stepped forward and slapped Cuihua in the face, cursing viciously, "Your unintentional act caused your cousin to fall into the water and her life is in danger. I will beat you to death."
Her father raised his hand as if to slap her again. Her mother, Zhu, immediately ran over to protect her daughter: "The child said she didn't mean it. Do you really want to beat her to death?"
Cuihua covered her swollen face and started crying. Liang Laoer originally wanted to teach his niece a lesson, but when he saw that his elder brother had beaten Cuihua, he didn't know how to do anything to her.
However, Liu was so angry that she looked at Cuihua and asked coldly, "Cuihua, we are all family. Second Aunt treats you well, and Qianhuan also respects you as her cousin. Why are you trying to hurt her like this?"
Cuihua was slapped by her father, which hurt her self-esteem. She felt angry and resentful. She just felt that everyone was protecting Qianhuan.
When questioned by Liu, she yelled, "Why does she respect me? If she respects me as her cousin, will she steal my cousin from me? She has been engaged to Jiang Lin for a long time and already has a fiancé, why did she seduce my cousin? She is just a vixen, such a vixen should be thrown into the pig cage, I pushed her just to prevent her from being thrown into the pig cage, and you all sided with her."
Boss Liang and Mrs. Zhu were both shocked. Mrs. Zhu quickly covered her daughter's mouth. How could such dirty words come out of the mouth of a little girl like her?
Chen quickly covered her son's ears. Wenjie was still young and he couldn't hear such dirty words.
Liu was so angry that she was shaking all over when she saw Cuihua not only pushed her daughter into the river but also slandered her daughter's reputation. She pointed at Cuihua, her mouth trembling, but she was so angry that she couldn't say a word.
Liang Laoer had calmed down a little after seeing his elder brother beat Cuihua, but when he heard Cuihua slandering his own daughter, his blood boiled again.
He wanted to run up and beat Cuihua up, but when he thought about how his elder brother was usually pretty good to their family, he endured it.
Old Man Liang also questioned Cuihua with an angry look on his face: "Tell me, how did Qianhuan seduce your cousin? How can a girl like you say such shameless words?"
Cuihua was also determined to make it happen. She had always admired her cousin, and ever since she overheard her mother say that she wanted to arrange a marriage between her and her cousin, she had already regarded her cousin as her own man.
Since her mother was slow to take action, she asked her cousin to come out and express his feelings. Unexpectedly, her cousin said that the person he liked was Qianhuan. If it weren't for the vixen Qianhuan who seduced her cousin, how could her cousin say such a thing?
She felt resentful and hateful. She pried open Zhu's hand that was covering her mouth and yelled, "Mother originally planned to arrange a marriage between me and my cousin, but my cousin said that the person he liked was Qianhuan. If Qianhuan hadn't seduced my cousin, how could he have fallen in love with her?"
Qianhuan was speechless when she heard this. This was totally an unprovoked disaster.
The cousin Cuihua was talking about was Zhu Wu, the son of her mother Zhu's brother. The original owner had never had any private contact with him at all. It was just that her cousin came to the Liang family occasionally and they played together.
How come Cuihua said that the original owner seduced her cousin?
"Your cousin doesn't like you and likes Qianhuan, so you hate Qianhuan and even push her into the river? How can you be so vicious?" Old man Liang was frightened. He didn't expect that his eldest granddaughter was so vicious at such a young age.
When Old Mrs. Liang thought about the three taels of silver she had spent, which could have been used to find a wife for her eldest grandson, she felt a pang of pain in her heart.
She rushed forward and started beating Cuihua, cursing as she beat her: "You are a money-loser. You have really caused so much harm to others. With your push, three taels of silver in the family are gone, and your brother's money for marrying a wife is gone too. You are a troublemaker. I must teach you a lesson tonight..."
Cuihua was beaten so hard that she cried loudly. Her mother, Zhu, knew that her daughter was wrong. Although she was influenced by Old Lady Liang and was somewhat patriarchal, she was still a piece of her own flesh and blood.
Seeing Cuihua being beaten so badly, she couldn't help but kneel down and beg for mercy: "Mom, please stop beating me, please stop beating me, the child made a mistake because she was not clear-headed at the moment."
"You still have the nerve to plead for her. If you hadn't taught your son poorly, would Wenyong's money for marrying a wife have been gone just like that? If you plead again, I'll beat you too." Old Mrs. Liang said to Zhu in a bad mood.
How could she listen to what Zhu said? She wanted to beat Zhu as well. But thinking that after all, Zhu had given birth to two sons for the Liang family, she spared her.
Old Mrs. Liang could only vent all her anger on Cuihua, continuing to scold and beat her.
