Chapter 17 Kou Shiro and Kuina
At the invitation of Kozaburo, Vic stayed in the cabin in the forest. Vic cooked dinner for Kozaburo, and Kozaburo told him some things about sword forging.
After resting for a night, the next morning Vic took Kozaburo's letter and walked towards Isshin Dojo. As he approached Isshin Dojo, he heard shouting and realized that someone was already practicing sword skills inside.
Isshin Dojo doesn't cover a very large area, and its architecture is all in the Wano Country style. Vic walked in. There was no one in the sparring dojo in front, so he continued walking in and found that everyone was practicing sword skills in the empty courtyard in the middle.
In front of the crowd stood a thin man with glasses and long hair, wearing a long-sleeved martial arts uniform, about thirty years old, with his hands clasped in his sleeves, watching the students lined up in a square in front of him waving bamboo swords. Next to the man sat a two or three-year-old child, watching the crowd waving swords. The child had short black hair and it was difficult to tell whether he was a man or a woman, only a small back could be seen. The students waving swords were taller than the others, of varying ages, and there were more than twenty of them.
Hearing the sound of footsteps on wooden boards, Koshiro turned around and looked at Vic who was walking onto the corridor. The students also stopped and looked at Vic curiously.
"Brother, is the master here? I'm here to become his disciple. Here's a letter for the master." Vic raised the letter in his hand and asked Koshiro.
Koshiro smiled and narrowed his eyes. "I am the owner of this place, Koshiro."
Koshiro walked towards Vic, and the children around him saw that the people swinging swords stopped, so they turned their heads to look.
When Koshiro came closer, Vic handed him the letter, and Koshiro opened it and started reading.
Vic stopped paying attention to Koshiro and turned around to look around. His eyes fell on the child. The child also looked at him, and their eyes met. "This is Kuina. She looks a lot like her when she grew up. She's so small now. So cute!" Vic thought to himself.
Kuina also stared at Vic. There was something special about Vic that attracted her, just like when she was watching someone swinging a sword seriously just now, but Vic attracted her more. She was just a child, ignorant and confused.
While reading the letter, Koshiro looked up at Vic, his expression becoming more and more surprised. In the letter, Kosaburo introduced Vic, talked about his peculiarities, and also talked about future arrangements.
Koshiro suppressed his thoughts and smiled at Vic, "Vic, right? You can learn kendo here. I will personally teach you. You wait here for a while. I will tell you in detail after they finish their morning class."
"Okay, thank you for your help, teacher." Vic bowed slightly.
Koshiro walked back to his original position, clapped his hands and said, "You have a new fellow disciple, his name is Vic, you two should get along well in the future, now finish your morning lessons first."
The students looked at Vic curiously, and then swung their bamboo swords in a disordered rhythm. After a while, the rhythm became unified.
Vic came and sat down next to Guina. Guina looked at Vic blankly, and Vic turned around and looked at her with a smile.
"My name is Vic, Orens Vic, and I'll be your senior from now on." Vic stretched out his hand to shake hands with her.
"My name is Kuina." Kuina stretched out her little hand blankly and placed it on Vic's big hand. Vic's big hand wrapped around Kuina's little hand and shook it, laughing.
He took his hand back, took out a lollipop from his pocket and handed it to Kuina. Kuina didn't take it, so Vic handed it to her again. Kuina was stunned for a moment before taking it, peeled off the wrapper and put it in her mouth, then took it out and licked it with her tongue. She looked so cute.
Vic found it very interesting that Kuina had big eyes and short hair like a boy, which probably reflected what Koshiro was thinking.
Koshiro was a bit conservative and thought that girls would not achieve much in kendo. He was probably a bit disappointed when he had a daughter, and subconsciously raised Kuina as a boy.
Vic didn't think that the female swordsman could not reach the top. If you often discourage a person, even if she is really talented, she may face it as a fact, and her future achievements will be limited. But with frequent encouragement, the achievements of ordinary people will be higher than before.
What's more, in the world of One Piece, everything is possible. Wick wants to encourage Kuina from a young age and tell her stories about strong women. Wick is now learning swordplay from her father and sword forging from her grandfather, so she doesn't want Kuina to die at a young age.
"Kuina, do you want to be a swordsman?" Vic asked softly.
"I want to!" Kuina turned her head and said seriously.
"Then you must study hard and believe that you can become a powerful swordswoman."
"Yeah." Kuina's excited little face turned a little red.
Vic planned to go hunting in the forest every day. He had food for himself and Kozaburo, and he also had to prepare some for Kuina so that her body would become stronger and she would not fall down the stairs and die.
She was so focused on practicing sword skills that other students couldn't even take on a few of her moves, which led to her neglecting physical training. Her body was too weak. If she hadn't been threatened by Sauron's rapid progress, she would not have strengthened her physical training. It was just too late. The accident happened to her before her body was well trained. So Vic was going to correct her and let her develop the habit of exercising from an early age.
......
After the morning class was over, Koshiro took Vic to the back of the yard, where there was a large open space and behind it were woods.
"Vic, my father said that you taught yourself the basics of kendo. Just demonstrate it here so I can see." Koshiro wanted to see what level Vic was at so that he could clarify the direction of his teaching later.
"Okay, teacher." Vic nodded in response.
Vic drew out the sword from his waist and placed it against the wall. With only Xuezou's sword on his waist, he walked forward more than ten meters and began to demonstrate the basics of kendo with his own insights.
Chop, hack, stab, lift, cut... In Iai, each basic sword move has some branches. For example, chop includes vertical chop, horizontal chop, oblique chop, reverse chop, etc.... There are also other moves, but the way each move is exerted and the combos have many variations.
Vic is fast and powerful, and combined with these moves, he is also very powerful. The sharp whistling sound produced by the blade cutting through the air, and the shadows of the blade are spread forward like a net as he moves. The field is full of Vic's afterimages, and the speed is so fast that the front ones have not disappeared yet, and new ones are coming in from the back.
Koshiro was very surprised, this foundation was too solid, even if he didn't learn anything else, he could become a swordsman by studying these basic sword moves for a few years. Koshiro was a little impressed by the talent of this young man, with this strength he was already good enough to go out to sea, yet he could still calm down and continue learning. His character was also impeccable, very easy to teach but also difficult to teach. Koshiro needed to think carefully about the next teaching plan.
Guina also came to the back door, hid behind the door and peeked outside. Her eyes were dizzy but she couldn't see Vic's figure clearly. Occasionally, a few cold lights came into her eyes. She felt that the senior brother who came today was so powerful. Her father had never shown such speed.
Of course Koshiro is stronger than Vic, but the students in the gym have no talent, so Koshiro's abilities cannot be fully utilized. But Kuina is too young now to understand these things. She only remembers that her brother is very powerful.
Koshiro picked up the knife that Vic placed next to him and walked towards Vic who was demonstrating. With a "clang" sound, Vic stopped. Xuezou was holding a knife below him, and Vic saw Koshiro who suddenly appeared.
"Next, attack me with all your strength," Koshiro said with a smile.
Vic didn't say anything, just nodded, and then attacked Koshiro at full speed, even faster than before. The sounds of swords clashing followed one after another. Vic attacked Koshiro from all directions, and Koshiro only rotated in a small range to receive the attacks with ease.
Vic was a little surprised at Koshiro's reaction speed, but after thinking about it, he felt that it was reasonable. Koshiro still had a lot of skills that he had not used. At least so far, he was only defending and not attacking.
Koshiro was also a little surprised. Vic's strength was amazing. Even if he could resist it, he had to use the help of movement to relieve the force, otherwise it would be embarrassing to be knocked back. His daughter was watching there. Vic's speed was faster than his. He had to use the help of his observation Haki to steadily catch Vic's attack. This showed that Vic already had the foundation to become a great swordsman. There was not much left, and many of them were just window paper that could be broken with a poke.
Koshiro already knew how to teach Vic, so he yelled, "Stop, that's enough."
Vic stopped, his face wasn't red, he wasn't out of breath, there was excitement in his eyes, he had never let go and exerted all his strength before, in the past, there were few opponents who would use a second move, only Rebecca could fight with him, of course he was holding back, otherwise Rebecca would have been defeated quickly. This abnormal physical talent could make his strength, speed, and endurance continue to grow. If he didn't stop, Vic could fight for three days and three nights, which was really a bit of cheating.
