Chapter 35 Devil Fruit

Boyce fell backwards with his eyes rolled back. There was a hideous wound on his chest that stretched from the right lower abdomen to the left shoulder. The fur next to it was stained red. Blood beads were flying in the air. Vic took two steps back to avoid being approached by the blood beads.

Bai Yis fell to the ground and slowly turned into a human form, with a pool of blood flowing under his body. It doesn't matter if an animal-type ability user has strong recovery ability. You still have to lie down when it exceeds the limit.

When the minions on the ship saw the captain being knocked down by a single sword, their faith collapsed. They were all witnesses of how powerful Boyce was after his transformation. He threw a naval warship directly into the naval base with his bare hands, destroying many buildings in the base. They were all jaw-dropping at the time, but now seeing the captain lying on the ground, they still couldn't believe it.

"Hey, don't just stand there, go prepare the food. I have a big appetite, and this will be the consequence if we take too long." Vic pointed at Boyce lying in a pool of blood.

The minions on the boat finally came to their senses and hurried to prepare. No one cared about Boyce on the ground.

Vic had almost eaten up all the food on the ship, and his minions were in tears. How could they survive like this?

Vic was picking his teeth after eating and said to the minions, "Is there anything valuable on the ship? Bring it here so I can see." He asked casually in accordance with the tradition of asking if there was anything valuable.

"Yes, yes, sir, we'll get it right away." The minions responded one after another and ran to the cabin to look for it, fearing that if they were too late, the treasure would be taken out by others first. If they came back empty-handed, they might be stabbed.

When all the minions came back, a small hill of various gold ornaments, gems, gemstone gold knives, etc. had piled up on the deck. Vic was not interested in these and just glanced at them casually, but there was a treasure chest that caught his attention.

"What's in that box?" Vic asked, pointing at the treasure chest.

"We don't know what that is. We took it from the captain's safe. We can't open it without the key." The minion trembled.

"The key should be with him, you guys look for it." Vic said casually.

The minions hurried to look for it, and a few went to the captain's room to look for it, but they couldn't find it. Vic became even more curious, so he walked over and knocked on the box. It was very sturdy and most people couldn't break it open.

Vic reached out and grabbed the corner of the box. He squeezed hard and the corner broke open. Vic saw a hint of milky white. Vic continued to work and after opening it all, a fruit with spiral patterns lay inside.

"Alas, it is just an accidental achievement. I couldn't find it when I was looking for it seriously, but now I got it unintentionally. Is this God's will?" Vic sighed as he looked at the fruit in his hand, which was milky white, with spiral patterns, flat and round, and evenly thick, like a pancake.

The minions on the ship were also a little curious. They didn't know about the magical thing called the Devil Fruit. Boyce didn't explain it to them. He hid the Devil Fruit with the intention of selling it. The chef on the ship knew about such a thing. He went to sea with Boyce.

"Does anyone know what this is? How did it come from?" Vic asked, holding up the devil fruit in his hand. He was a little curious. It was a little unbelievable that two devil fruits suddenly appeared on a pirate ship in the East China Sea.

It was quite quiet on the boat; they didn't dare to say anything as they didn't know what was going on.

"Well...well, I know something about the situation." The chef said after hesitating for a moment.

"Then tell me about it. I'm a little interested." Vic said with a smile on his face.

"Boyis and I went to sea together. Boyis was the captain of the National Guard. One day he defected and brought back two fruits with strange patterns from the national treasury. This is one of them, and the other one looks like a coconut. Boyis and I are from the same village. He knew I was a good cook, so he kidnapped me to be the chef on his ship. I haven't seen those two strange fruits since then." The chef said slowly, glancing at Vic from time to time.

"It seems that the devil fruits stored in the national treasure inventory were stolen. These two devil fruits are probably presented by the king to the celestial dragons. He ate an animal-type one, so I will accept this one with pleasure." Vic thought to himself.

"Okay, I get it. You guys report on each other. Those who did something bad should jump down by themselves. Don't let me do it." Vic said coldly.

The pirates pointed out to each other that only the chef and a few others with some skills were captured, while the others joined voluntarily and committed many crimes.

Under Vic's gaze, they jumped into the sea unwillingly. Whether they could survive depended on luck. Anyway, Vic didn't find any island nearby, otherwise he would not have got on the boat and went directly to the island to rest.

"You guys haven't done anything evil, so I'll let you go this time. Live a good life on shore and don't be pirates anymore." Vic warned the rest of the people, packed up the treasures, left some on the boat, and left with moon steps, leaving behind a few people with dull eyes.

When Vic left, he felt a vague gaze leaving him, but his observation Haki could not sense that anyone was watching him.

"Is that human being?"

"Being a pirate is so dangerous, there are gods out to kill you!"

"I want to go home, I want to go home!!!"

.......

Vic ignored what happened on the pirate ship and flew towards Lep Island.

……

Three days later, Vic returned to Lep Island.

This time, Vic did not land at the dock. He airdropped directly into the house. After leaving the treasure at home, he hurried to Rebecca's house.

When they arrived at Rebecca's house, Rebecca and Tuya were both there. The old lady was lying on the bed, looking older and thinner than a year ago. The old lady did not wake up. Vic called Rebecca, whose eyes were red, out.

"Rebecca, have you seen a doctor? How is grandma's health?" Vic asked in a low voice.

"The doctor said it was excessive mental exhaustion, which has no cure. If it weren't for the meat you brought back, grandma wouldn't have survived until now. The doctor said that grandma had very good nutritional supplements before she fell ill. If it weren't for those nutritional supports, she would have fallen ill long ago. It's just that her body has aged, and those nutrients can't be retained for long." Rebecca said sadly.

The old lady was her only relative and she grew up with her since she was a child. Now her only relative is gone and she is really sad. She was very young when her parents had the accident and she didn’t remember anything at all. Her grandmother was the best person to her.

Vic knew that the death of Rebecca's parents was a great blow to the old lady. In Vic's childhood memory, the old lady always sat alone in a chair, staring into the distance in a daze, and was sick with longing. If it weren't for Rebecca's concern, it would be even more difficult to say.

"I understand. I will always be with you. Don't be too sad. Birth, aging, sickness and death are all normal for human beings." Vic touched Rebecca's head and comforted her.

Recently, Vic has not gone out to practice, and has been staying by the old lady's bed. When the old lady is not awake, Vic sits cross-legged beside her and meditates.

During this time, the old lady woke up once. She was very happy to see Vic come back. She pulled Vic aside and talked to him for a while. Then the exhausted old lady fell asleep again.

The doctor comes to inject nutrient solution every day, Tuya cleans the old lady's body every day to keep her comfortable, Mayor Andre comes to visit occasionally, and neighbors also come to visit often. The old lady is very popular.

Two months later, the old lady woke up again. This time she looked energetic and her face was rosy. Vic knew something was wrong. It was a last gasp of energy, so he quickly called Rebecca in.
