Chapter 616: Be prepared for danger in times of peace (20)
"Ah."
This "hmm" was obviously said with a smile.
She turned around and said in surprise: "Shen Luyuan, you are so happy."
"You said I was your fiancé."
Sui Zhao took him to eat, and after the meal he asked, "Do you want to take a bath?"
"Yeah." If not, I'm afraid she would dislike it.
After sending Shen Siwei to rest, Sui Zhao went to look for Yan Tinglan and Zhu Fuli. She knocked on the door, and after Yan Tinglan responded with "Come in", she poked her head in and said, "Mother, Father."
Yan Tinglan was painting in the room. He was painting a portrait of Zhu Fuli, while Zhu Fuli was leaning on the couch reading a book.
"Yeah." Yan Tinglan responded to her and continued doing his own thing.
Sui Zhao leaned against Zhu Fuli and called her mischievously, "Mother~"
Zhu Fuli put down the book and pinched her face, "Why, have you settled him down?"
"I took him to dinner. He looked tired, so I let him rest." Sui Zhao hugged her arms and leaned his head on her shoulder. "Mom, you and Dad have accepted him, right?"
"Yes." Zhu Fuli held her hand and said, "If he doesn't check it, even if you cry and insist on marrying him, your father and I will not agree."
"I'm not that blind. I don't even know who my mother and father are." She snorted softly, "My mother brought me up so well. With a father like me as a role model, how could I not know what is good and what is bad?"
Yan Tinglan glanced at her when he heard this, "You praised everything, including yourself."
"Did I say that wrong?" She blinked.
Yan Tinglan lowered his head and continued to paint.
After "annoying" them for a while, Sui Zhao stood up and said, "I've had lunch with Shen Siwei, so we won't need it later. Daddy, you and mom can be happy and sweet."
After the door closed, Yan Tinglan put down his pen and said, "Ali, come here."
Zhu Fuli didn't move, picked up the book, and said, "Come here."
Yan Tinglan had no choice but to go to her side, picked her up and sat her down in front of the desk, "I feel particularly lazy in winter. Take a look at the portrait I drew for you. Is it better than the last one?"
Zhu Fuli looked down and nodded.
"When will Ali draw a picture for me?"
"I'll paint for you when I get back to Beijing."
"Ali is so nice." He rested his chin on her shoulder and read with her.
Sui Zhao went out and returned to his room, where he happily found the medical book he had been reading halfway and continued reading it. When he felt sleepy, he took off his shoes and socks and climbed into bed for a nap.
When she got up, it was snowing heavily outside. After asking Shuang Xu to comb her hair, she put on a cloak and went happily to find Shen Siwei.
Shuang Xu followed her out and turned in another direction. She wanted to eat the chestnuts she had roasted on the fire.
Arriving at Shen Siwei's door, she knocked gently. The next moment, the door opened. She leaned in and called him with a smile, "Shen Luyuan~"
Shen Siwei moved aside to let her in, leaving the door a crack.
"Shen Siwei, why don't you hold my hand?" Without waiting for him to reply, she continued, "Oh, I know, you are afraid of my father."
Shen Siwei didn't say anything, but held her hand and kissed her on the face.
It was as if he was going against what she said.
Sui Zhao stood on tiptoe, and he leaned down to let her kiss him on the face, then he pulled her into his arms.
She rubbed her head against his neck, "Shen Luyuan, it's snowing heavily, so I won't go to the village. I'll take you for a walk in front of others on the day I leave."
"Also, you and Quan Ling will stay here for the next two days. Don't go anywhere else. This is the princess' order."
"Okay." Shen Siwei nodded and put her on the couch.
Sui Zhao grabbed a soft pillow and hugged it, shaking her legs to look at him, but he took a quilt to cover her legs, hindering her movements.
"Shen Luyuan, who is in your family?"
Shen Siwei was a little confused, "It's just me."
Logically speaking, if she wanted to know, she could just ask the secret guards to investigate and find out his background.
As if she knew his doubts, she said, "I want you to tell me about your matter in person."
Shen Siwei sat beside her. "I was born in a farmer's family in my hometown. Twenty years ago, there was a severe drought. The imperial court issued relief funds, but corrupt officials embezzled them, causing tens of thousands of victims to starve to death, including my relatives."
"I was rescued by a hunter couple. Luckily, I survived. They had no children, but they provided me with food and clothing. They died when I was seven years old."
"From then on, I lived on the support of the Yijitang of the imperial court. The teachers in the school saw that I was smart and helped me to take the exams."
"My husband was a widower, and he was deeply in love with me. He rose from humble beginnings thanks to his late wife. Thinking that she would not remarry, he also adopted me as his son. He passed away two years ago."
"My entry into the Ministry of Justice has something to do with the corrupt officials back then."
Sui Zhao patted him on the shoulder and said, "You've had a rough life in the past twenty years, but fortunately you've met a lot of good people."
Twenty years ago, her father was still in the deep mountains and forests, and her mother had not yet been summoned into the palace.
Shen Siwei nodded slightly, "Yeah."
I met a lot of good people, but I also met just as many bad people.
After chatting with him for a long time, she was tired and leaned back on the couch, looking at the ceiling quietly.
There was a charcoal fire burning in the room. Shen Siwei put the teapot on the stove, warmed the tea in it, poured a cup, and handed it to her lips, "Drink some, it will moisten your throat."
Sui Zhao drank from his hand, and seeing him staring at her, she looked up and smiled at him, "Shen Luyuan, do I look good?"
"Yeah." He looked away from her rosy lips, carefully pushed her head away, and went to pour another cup of tea, "Do you want more?"
"No."
Hearing this, he drank the tea in one gulp.
After looking at the cup he had used and then at his rolling Adam's apple, Sui Zhao coughed.
Shen Siwei put down the cup and went back to sit next to her.
Sui Zhao casually picked up the book he had just been reading, lowered his head and looked at it, absorbed in it. Then he thought of him, moved to his side, leaned against his hand, and slanted the contents in front of him.
Shen Siwei held her and helped her sit up straight, then he withdrew his hand and read a book with her, who was rarely quiet.
It gets dark early in winter. When the light in the house became dim, Sui Zhao put down the book in his hand and said, "Shen Luyuan, let's go have dinner."
"Okay." Shen Siwei followed her and listened to her talk about what she often did at home in the past few months on the way to the dining hall.
When they entered the dining hall, Yan Tinglan and Zhu Fuli were already there. Shen Siwei bowed to them.
Yan Tinglan just said calmly: "Sit down."
Zhu Fulixu pointed at the bowl of soup in front of Sui Zhao and said, "Drink a bowl of soup to warm yourself up."
"Thank you, mother."
After staying for another two days halfway up the mountain, Yan Tinglan returned to Beijing with his wife and daughter.
Shen Siwei attracted a lot of attention when he entered the village, and he attracted even more attention when he followed Sui Zhao out.
"Is that Miss Yan's fiancé?"
"What a handsome man."
Yan Tinglan glanced at Shen Siwei, turned around and helped Zhuan Zhu Fuli onto the carriage, his expression softened instantly, "Ali, be careful."
"it is good."
Sui Zhao walked up to Yan Tinglan and said, "Dad, Shen Siwei and I are riding in the same carriage."
Yan Tinglan looked at her for a moment, then climbed onto the carriage and went in to find Zhu Fuli, "Yeah."
