Chapter 3: The Taoist Master Zhenji Who Made Tathagata Silent and Guanyin Cry

Chapter 3: The Taoist Master Zhenji Who Made Tathagata Silent and Guanyin Cry
Captain Han smiled and put his hand on Pei Yuan's arm, "I am the captain of the Nanjing Pacification Division, and I have no control over you. There is no need to be so polite."

Pei Yuan stood up tactfully and only then noticed what Han Qianhu said.

Nanjing Pacification Office?
Isn't it the Southern Pacification Division?!
Then he suddenly realized that the Southern Pacification Office was right over there at Dengshikou. No wonder Zhang Rong mentioned the words "going to Beijing" just now.

Pei Yuan couldn't help but murmur in his heart.

This involves a special situation in the Ming Dynasty court.

Since Zhu Di's Jingnan Campaign, the imperial court moved from Nanjing to Beijing.

As the former capital, and in order to balance the interests of the north and the south, the imperial court still left a complete government team in Nanjing.

Not only does it have a complete system of six ministries and five temples, but it also has all the configurations of the Embroidered Uniform Guard.

However, Nanjing was far away from the imperial court, and the officials who stayed in Nanjing were basically idle for retirement. Even the Nanjing Jinyiwei had become non-existent.

Now that a captain of the Nanjing Jinyiwei has come specially and has attracted the attention of Zhang Yong and Zhang Rong, Pei Yuan can't help but pay attention to it.

When Pei Yuan stood up, he took a quick look.

This woman called Han Qianhu looked heroic and somewhat masculine. If she were wearing women's clothing, she might only look ordinary. But now she was wearing a tight suit with a flying fish coat, which made Pei Yuan feel very beautiful.

Pei Yuan quickly lowered his eyes and said respectfully, "There is an order of respect and inferiority, and I dare not be arrogant."

Captain Han smiled, and after everyone was seated, he looked at Pei Yuan and asked, "How much do you know about the Plum Blossom Society case?"

Pei Yuan's heart tightened, after all, they were talking about this matter.

By this time he also understood that although Captain Han was not from the Southern Pacification Office, the case happened in Southern Zhili. If he was determined to intervene, Beijing would not be able to say anything.

Pei Yuan thought for a moment and replied, "I don't know much about the Plum Blossom Society. Before, Eunuch Liu Jin sent many tax inspectors to the south, and they were quite effective. After Eunuch Liu died, Eunuch Zhang and Eunuch Qiu wanted to take over these people. But not long after, gangs repeatedly assassinated tax inspectors."

"Eunuch Qiu suspected that someone from the Jiangnan clan was behind this, so he set his sights on the Plum Blossom Society, hoping to use it to bring out more thieves."

Seeing that Han Qianhu didn't react, Pei Yuan couldn't help but look up. He saw Han Qianhu playing with a small white porcelain cup in his hand and listening incoherently.

Pei Yuan knew that this was probably not the real purpose of Han Qianhu's visit.

As soon as Pei Yuan paused, Han Qianhu directly asked about the topic he was interested in.

"What's going on with Mei Qiniang?"

Being asked such a question by a woman who was considered beautiful in Pei Yuan's mind, even if Pei Yuan had a heart as hard as stone, he couldn't help feeling embarrassed.

Perhaps seeing Pei Yuan's hesitation, Zhang Rong urged impatiently, "Just say whatever you want to say. Don't waste Captain Han's time."

Pei Yuan had no choice but to tell the whole story.

Han Qianhu listened very carefully this time, and his bright eyes looked at Pei Yuan without blinking.

Especially the last time he spent with Mei Qinniang, which Han Qianhu repeatedly asked about.

Pei Yuan confirmed that Han Qianhu had no intention of humiliating her on purpose. He just looked at her serious expression, as if the affair between men and women was a puzzle that needed to be solved.

After Pei Yuan finished speaking, Han Qianhu was silent for a long time.

Soon, the white porcelain cup was flexibly turned between her jade-like fingers again. Han Qianhu looked at Pei Yuan and asked after a while, "What do you think Mei Qiniang thinks of you?"

Pei Yuan was a little confused. What was the question?
Han Qianhu seemed to know that he could not get anything out of her, so he continued, "But anyway, you will be a little special in her heart."

Pei Yuan finally couldn't help but asked, "Excuse my rudeness, but what's the point of this?"

Han Qianhu raised her thumb, and the small white porcelain cup turned over in her palm. She smiled faintly and said, "If the person is gone, of course it is meaningless. But if a demon turns her into a fierce ghost, we have to find a way to lure her out."

"Ah." Pei Yuan was surprised.

Monster? Evil ghost?
Pei Yuan felt greatly shocked for a moment.

Then, Pei Yuan suddenly remembered something unreasonable.

It is said that when a person dies, his debts are forgiven. Since Mei Qinniang had been killed by arrows, how could she appear in the receivables of "debts of favors"?
Zhang Rong seemed to know something and chimed in, "Don't ask questions that you shouldn't ask."

Han Qianhu didn't care and smiled, "We'll need him later, so there's nothing to hide."

After she finished speaking, she held the small white porcelain cup in her palm and said calmly, "The existence of our Qianhu Suo is not a secret. It's just that over time, no one has mentioned it deliberately. However, there are many people in the two capitals who work on the surface."

Pei Yuan was confused, but he remembered Zhang Rong's words and didn't say much. Captain Han said to himself, "The captain's office under my jurisdiction is called Zhenxie. When Emperor Taizu first established it, it was dedicated to hunting down the remnants of the Ming Cult. After the Ming Cult leader died, several Dharma Kings disappeared, and our Zhenxie Captain's Office turned to hunting down demons and suppressing other evil cults."

When Pei Yuan heard the words "remnants of the Ming Cult", he couldn't help but shudder.

Zhu Yuanzhang was originally a member of the Ming Cult. After he became powerful, he eliminated the Young Ming King and became the only one in power.

This matter is not a secret at all in the underworld, but it is very taboo in official circles. Who dares to mention it?

Pei Yuan's forehead was covered with sweat, and he quickly said, "I am ignorant and this is the first time I have heard of this."

Han Qianhu smiled and turned the small white porcelain cup in his hand again.

"Well, Taoist Zhenji, you must know that those are the eyes and ears of our Qianhu in the various temples and monasteries."

Captain Han looked at Zhang Rong and said with a forced smile.

"We are loyal to our duties, work diligently, and do honest work. I don't know who is so shady and makes us look like rats who hide their heads and show their tails."

Zhang Rong wiped the sweat off his face.

Who dares to say anything after Emperor Taizong’s order?
The matter of the Thousand Households of Suppressing Evils hunting down the remnants of the Ming Cult and searching for evil people among the people is not something that can be made public, so how can it be announced to the public?

When Pei Yuan heard the four words "Zhenji Taoist", he suddenly realized and felt even more awe in his heart.

The Ming Dynasty relied on the Mingjiao to start the uprising, and these monks and Taoists who could incite the people were strictly managed. Slightly larger temples and palaces all had Taoist priests sitting in to monitor them.

This matter may be difficult for future generations to understand, but "Journey to the West", written in the Ming Dynasty, faithfully reflects these phenomena.

Let’s talk about that time.

The bodhisattvas asked the Tathagata to explain the root and the source. The Tathagata opened his mouth and expounded the Dharma, preaching the true fruit. He talked about the wonderful scriptures of the Three Vehicles and the solemnity of the Five Aggregates. Then he saw the heavenly dragons circling around him and the colorful rain of flowers.

After the Tathagata finished speaking, he told the crowd that there were four major continents and the good and evil of sentient beings were different in each place.

"Dongsheng Shenzhou, respect heaven and earth, and be refreshed and calm."

"Although people in Uttarakuru love to kill, they only do so to make a living. They are clumsy and indifferent, so they don't do much harm."

"In the South Asian subcontinent, people do not covet or kill, they cultivate their spirits and spirits, and although there is no supreme truth, everyone lives a long life."

"But the people of Jambudvīpa are greedy, lustful, and happy to cause trouble. They often kill and quarrel. It is a vicious field of words and a sea of right and wrong. I now have the Three Treasures Scriptures, which can persuade people to do good."

After boasting, Tathagata asked Guanyin Bodhisattva to go to the East to find someone who would fetch the scriptures.

Guanyin took the brocade cassock, the nine-ring staff, and the three golden hoops, one golden, one tight, and one forbidden, bestowed by Tathagata, and went down from Lingshan.

As soon as I arrived at the foot of Lingshan Mountain, I was stopped by the Jinding Great Immortal of Yuzhen Temple, "Where are you going? Come over to register."

Guanyin Bodhisattva, "..."

I didn't expect that what Tathagata said would make my blood boil. After a surge of excitement, I had to register when going down the mountain.

The Bodhisattva did not dare to stay for long, and said, "I will follow the Tathagata's command to go to the East to find someone who will fetch the sutra."

The immortal then asked, "When will the pilgrim arrive?"

The Bodhisattva said, "It is not certain yet, but maybe we can get here in two or three years."

By the time I finished registering with Avalokitesvara, I was already feeling a little depressed.

Is there still a future for this career?
People in later generations may find this strange.

This is fucking bullshit, right?
At the foot of the Buddha at Lingshan Mountain, the dignified Guanyin Bodhisattva needs to find a Taoist priest to register when she goes out? !
But not surprising.

The novel is based on reality, and this is how the world was perceived by people in the Ming Dynasty.

Therefore, in the novels written by people in the Ming Dynasty, whether it is Elder Jinchi’s Guanyin Temple or the Lingshan Temple of Buddha Sakyamuni, there are Taoists in charge of entry and exit.

These various Taoists who dominate all palaces, temples and monasteries are these Taoist priests.

This powerful force outside the secular world is nominally under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Rites, but Pei Yuan has understood it after hearing the inside story today.

The handsome captain of the Evil Suppression Unit in front of him is the real leader of all the Taoists in Zhenji!
