Chapter 6 Ming History Concentration

Chapter 6 Ming History Concentration
The clouds woke up in the sunset glow.

I drank too much last night, and when I fell asleep, the eastern sky was already bright. However, good wine does not harm the body but rather nourishes the mind. I have not even slept for an hour, but my mind is still very clear.

He opened his eyes and found himself still in the courtyard. It turned out that he had fallen asleep on the wine table after getting drunk last night.

Looking at Feng Jihu again, the young Taoist priest had already woken up and was now doing exercises in the courtyard, dancing like a crane and climbing like a monkey. Yunqi watched for a while and found that this exercise was similar to the Tongmai Stretching Meridian Exercise that he had practiced since he was a child, and they must be from the same vein.

At this time, He Bingkun was still sleeping on the desk, snoring loudly.

Yunqi stood up and started practicing the meridian-opening and meridian-stretching exercise.

I don't know if it's because the mountain is full of spiritual energy, or if my state of mind has changed a lot, but at this moment I am practicing the same routine, but I can clearly feel that the clear spiritual energy in my body has become stronger and more condensed.

After reading the moral education twice, He Bingkun also woke up.

"You guys are here pretty early."

"I just woke up," said Yunqi.

After the three of them cleaned up the yard, He Bingkun hurried to Ying Yuan Mansion to listen to the lecture. Now Yunqi also saw the true appearance of the thunder bird:
This was a thunderbird, its silver claws hooked in the crack of the stone wall above the courtyard, resting with its eyes closed. When it heard He Bingkun's call, the bird kicked its claws, turned in the air, flapped its wings and flew up, its wingspan reaching three or four feet long.

The Thunderbird has purple feathers, silver-white feather shafts, dark gold beak and eyes, and looks very majestic. However, the Thunderbird has a row of white vertical feathers on its head, which looks a bit funny.

He Bingkun leaped up and landed on the back of the Thunderbird. The Thunderbird flapped its wings and turned into a flash of lightning, quickly flying away.

Feng Jihu also stopped his drill, released the Cloud Chariot, and said to Yunqi: "Yunqi, I will leave the mountain today. This trip will take at least half a year, or at most several years. I hope you will have learned something by the time I return."

Yunqi bowed and said, "I hope you have a safe journey and all your wishes come true."

Feng Jihu left with a smile.

After the two left, Yunqi first entered the house and carefully scanned the books on the bookshelf to see if all the books that Master Sukong mentioned yesterday were there. After a round of looking, he found that all the books were there.

"There's still a schedule missing."

Yunqi stepped out of the door and walked back to the place where he received his clothes yesterday. Seeing the old Taoist priest, he stepped forward and bowed, "Master, I would like to get a class schedule and some packed food. I wonder if I can get it here?"

Yao Jianming shook his head and pointed out: "Little Taoist, the class schedule is in the Capital Education Institute. Cultivation and knowledge are all under their jurisdiction. Go out and head to the top of the mountain. Food and drink are in the hands of the Capital Kitchen Institute. It is at the bottom of the mountainside. Ask people along the way and you will find it. You only need to come to the old Taoist for daily necessities."

Yunqi thanked him, bowed and left.

Afterwards, Yunqi found the Metropolitan Education Institute and the Metropolitan Kitchen Institute very smoothly. The Metropolitan Education Institute provided free classes, which made Yunqi very happy, but the meals in the Metropolitan Kitchen Institute all cost money. The cheapest white flour cake cost two zhu of broken copper, and the most convenient fasting pills cost one liang of copper. Yunqi did not dare to ask the prices of the other meals.

White flour cakes are also made of spiritual grains. Like the Bigu Pills, after being swallowed, they are transformed into essence and are completely absorbed by the stomach, and no more excretion is required. However, one white flour cake only covers one person's food intake for one day, while the Bigu Pills can cover it for half a month, which is much more convenient.

However, Cheng Yunqi was now penniless and only owed three white flour cakes and six copper coins.

Carrying the schedule and the bread back to the courtyard, Yunqi first posted the schedule on the wall after entering the room. The schedule was written in white on black spiritual paper. The manager of the capital courtyard said that this was a kind of simple talisman method. The spiritual characters on it could change and show the daily curriculum at any time.

Yunqi took a quick look and saw that the courses were varied, some were about cultivation techniques, some were about alchemy, some were about identifying magical instruments, and some were about the maintenance of spiritual herbs. Yunqi thought that he should read a book before attending the class to clarify some common sense questions about cultivation, otherwise it would be a waste of time.

Then, he walked over to the bookshelf, stood still, and pulled out a thick book titled "A General History of Ten Thousand Years - Sanqing Mountain Revised Over the Years - Ming Dynasty 400th Edition".

As the old saying goes, reading history makes one wise, learning from the past can help one know the future, and remembering the past is a lesson for the future. He has always liked reading history, and he has read history books in the secular world. He knows that the current unified dynasty in the secular world is called the Ming Dynasty, which has been established for more than 400 years. The previous dynasty was the Yuan Dynasty, and the one before that was the Song Dynasty.

However, both the transition from Song to Yuan and from Yuan to Ming were world-shaking wars, and the Song Dynasty is said to have been in power for more than a thousand years, so many things can no longer be verified.

He took the book to the desk, sat down, calmed his mind, and opened the first page.

The first page is the bibliography, which reads:
Sovereigns and Five Emperors
Cheng Tang replaced Xia
Qin unified the Warring States
Tian Han Ke Chu
Three Families Return to Jin
North and South
Sui Yao Tang Shou
Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms
The Song Dynasty gave way to the Yuan Dynasty
The brightness of the sun and the moon
This was the first time Yunqi knew that there were so many dynasties before the Song Dynasty.

Then, he turned to the first era, the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors. This era was very short, and the events during the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors period were not well known. There were only some well-known events, such as Fuxi making hexagrams, Shennong tasting herbs, and Huangdi casting a tripod. The general history speculated that the total time these eight emperors reigned was about 5,000 to 8,000 years.

After reading it carefully, he turned to the Second Period, when Cheng Tang replaced Xia.

It basically says that Emperor Yu gained great reputation for his success in controlling floods, and naturally established the Xia Dynasty. However, King Yu overturned the abdication system of the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors and created a hereditary system. Another obvious difference from the Chronicles of the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors is that the kings of the Xia Dynasty seemed to have the same lifespan as ordinary people, and it was common for new and old kings to replace each other every few decades.

The Xia Dynasty had 17 kings and lasted for 470 years until Jie, who was tyrannical and lost the world. The ancestor of Cheng Tang led an army to attack and destroy Xia.

Five hundred years after Cheng Tang established the Shang Dynasty, the then king of Shang was called Emperor Xin Zishou. The book records that during Zishou's reign, the country was unprecedentedly strong, and the country was both holy and powerful. However, at that time, a great vassal king, Xibohou, rebelled and established the separatist regime of Western Zhou. The history books also called the Shang Dynasty before this the Eastern Shang.

The war between the East and the West lasted for fifty years. The book records that a large number of ancient gods participated in this war on earth. The gods in heaven and the gods on earth fought against each other, turning the world upside down. There is also a sentence in the book: When the situation reaches its peak, a saint will appear to re-refine the earth, water, wind and fire.

The book says that in the end, the gods of the human world won the victory, and the human world became self-governing, and from then on, the wind and rain of the four seasons were no longer controlled by the gods. This was the last time that the Three Pure Ones appeared in the world, and it was also the last time of the immeasurable calamity.

The Shang Kingdom won the war, and the Shang King granted fiefs to a large number of vassal states and ancient gods, and also unified the entire world. After that, the Shang Kingdom lasted for another 1,500 years and was known in history as the Imperial Shang.

At the end of the Shang Dynasty, the central government was weak, the local governments were strong, the vassal states rebelled, and many heroes rose up to compete for the world. This period is known in history as the Warring States Period.

The Warring States Period ended with the Qin Dynasty, but historical records show that after Emperor Qin Shi Huang unified the country, he tried to break the convention that human kings could not live forever, sought the method of immortality, and wanted to establish an immortal dynasty that would rule the world forever.

However, this action angered all the gods. After a fierce battle, the First Emperor collapsed in the sand dunes of Yan and Zhao, and Qin II died.

At the same time, this war also caused the human king to lose the right to deify. From then on, there were only immortals and ancient gods in the world, and no new gods.

This battle of gods and immortals is known in history as the First Killing of Gods and Immortals. After the fall of Qin, the princes rose up again, and finally Han defeated Chu and established the Han Dynasty, known in history as the Western Han Dynasty. The Western Han Dynasty lasted for 800 years, and in the last years of the dynasty, it was in turmoil. Then Emperor Guangwu of Han Dynasty revived it and established the Eastern Han Dynasty, which lasted for another 1,200 years. Historians also called it Tianhan.

The book says that in the early years of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Zhang Daoling, the founder of heaven, came to a sacred mountain in Yuzhang to make elixir. When the elixir was ready, dragons and tigers appeared, and the sacred mountain was renamed Longhu Mountain.

At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, the country was divided into three parts, and then it was united into one family, the Western Jin Dynasty. Although the Western Jin Dynasty unified the country, it was plagued by internal strife and the emperor was licentious. After 50 years of existence, it was already on the verge of collapse. At that time, there was the restoration of the Jin Dynasty, which swept away the filth from south to north and extended the country's reign for another 900 years, which was known as the Eastern Jin Dynasty.

According to general historical records, when the Eastern Jin Dynasty was first established, Patriarch Ge Hong founded a mountain in Yuzhang, which was called Sanqing Mountain. Patriarch Ge Hong himself was also worshipped as an immortal by Emperor Zhongzu of the Eastern Jin Dynasty.

At the end of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, the country was divided again, with the Northern and Southern Dynasties coexisting, and then merged into the Sui Dynasty. However, the Sui Dynasty was founded on military power, and the two generations of emperors imposed heavy taxes and eventually perished in the second generation.

Emperor Gaozu of Tang started his army from Jinyuan, destroyed the Sui Dynasty and established himself as the Tang Dynasty. According to historical records, during the reign of Emperor Taizong Wen, the second emperor of the Tang Dynasty, eight Buddhist sects coexisted. Tripitaka traveled to the West to spread Buddhism, and the Sixth Patriarch Huineng proposed to see the nature of the mind and become a Buddha on the spot, which greatly promoted Zen Buddhism and overwhelmed Taoism.

At that time, the dispute over the orthodoxy of Eastern and Western Buddhism had become irreconcilable, and cutting down mountains and destroying temples were commonplace, which directly triggered the second killing disaster of immortals.

According to historical records, no Golden Immortal appeared in the world after this massacre.

After the founding of the Tang Dynasty, it experienced several emperors including Gaozu, Taizong, Gaozong, Shenghuangdi and Xuanzong. The territory was unprecedentedly vast and an unprecedented foundation was created, which is known in history as the Prosperous Tang Dynasty.

However, Emperor Xuanzong became incompetent and power-hungry in his later years. He favored foreign border generals, and the country fell into civil strife. The rebels counterattacked the capital, and Xuanzong abandoned the capital and fled to Sichuan, almost putting the country in danger of destruction.

At that time, Emperor Xuanzong's youngest son, Emperor Zhongzu Daojunwu of Tang, raised an army in Shuzhong, followed the ancient road that had been lost, crossed the Bashan Mountains and the Qinling Mountains, and sent a divine army to Guanzhong to recover the capital. The book says that the reason why Emperor Zhongzu of Tang could lead the special forces and cross the ancient road was because of the full support of the Taoist forces in Shuzhong at that time.

After that, the Tang Dynasty created another prosperous era, and the country lasted for 2,600 years, which was unprecedented and known as the Shou Tang. At the same time, the power of Taoism surpassed that of Buddhism, and the Taoism in Shu was even more prosperous. At that time, it surpassed Longhu Mountain and was called the Western Taoist Capital. The now famous Mount Emei, Mount Qingcheng, Qingyang Palace, and Heming Mountain all rose during the Shou Tang period.

Although the Tang Dynasty was long, it still had an end. At the end of the Tang Dynasty, warlords were in power and the country was in chaos. It was truly a period of rotation for the emperor to sit on the throne. This year it was my turn, and it was known in history as the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms.

Later, Emperor Taizu of Song unified the country and established the Northern Song Dynasty. The Northern Song Dynasty lasted for 170 years, but it was exhausted, the country shrank, and the emperor fled. Then Emperor Shizu of Song revived the country and made great achievements during his escape, extending the reign of the Song Dynasty for 1,500 years, which is known in history as the Shao Song Dynasty.

During the Song Dynasty, Taoism flourished. Wang Wenqing, a master of Chongxu Miaodao, founded the Shenxiao School in Bingfeng Mountain in Yuzhang, opening up a new school of Taoism for the Taoists all over the world.

At the end of the Song Dynasty, some northern tribes moved south, searched the mountains and seas, and established the Yuan Dynasty. The Yuan Dynasty had been established for a hundred years, and the people were full of complaints. At that time, Emperor Taizu of the Ming Dynasty raised his army and was unstoppable. He drove the tribes to the North Sea and unified the Central Plains. This was the brightness of the sun and the moon.

Today, the Ming Dynasty has been established for more than four hundred years, and the country is peaceful and prosperous.

After reading, Yunqi let out a long breath and closed the book. He felt hungry and subconsciously touched the cake on the desk, but found nothing. He looked up and found that the cake had been eaten, and a lamp was lit on the desk.

This lamp is very beautiful, the whole body of the lamp is milky white, and it looks like it is made of stone. The whole lamp is an image of a white crane standing, one foot on the ground, four toes spread out, the other foot raised, four toes folded. The crane's wings are folded, the neck is slender and curved, the head is lowered, and the crane holds a long-necked bottle in its mouth, which is filled with clear lamp oil, and the flame is hanging outside the mouth of the bottle.

The oil lamp was bright, but soft, emitting a white light, as if the full moon had been plucked. He realized it later and when he looked out the window again, it was already late at night.

He stood up and walked to the window. The moonlight was bright, and it contrasted beautifully with the lamp on the table. He looked at the bright moon that illuminated the past and present, and his mind was still churning with the magnificent scenes in history books.

Thinking about it carefully, it seems that every time a dynasty rises and falls, you can always see the shadow of the power on the mountain, but it is vague and abstract, making it difficult to see clearly. Even my ancestor seems to have a great involvement in the founding of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, but this involvement is always unclear, giving people the feeling that it cannot be made public.

Even now, in the Ming Dynasty, the royal family seems to have a special kind of worship for Wudang Mountain and Sanfeng Zhenren, bestowing various titles on them, one longer than the other.

Let's look at those who were deeply involved in the struggle of dynasties, such as the ancient gods' war in Shang and Zhou, the immortal dynasty war in Qin, and the Buddhist and Taoist war in Tang. After fighting for a while, these gods were no longer heard from. The most recent example is Tang Zhongzu leading the Taoist soldiers out of Shu to conquer the world, but the book says that after Tang Zhongzu left Shu, it rained for half a year, and a fairy mountain died. After the Taoist soldiers from Shu entered Guanzhong, there was no news.

The key points in this passage are so touching that one gets chills when thinking about them.

Yunqi has made up his mind that when he walks in the world in the future, he must be careful with the temple, avoid worldly disputes, and stay away from cause and effect.

It’s just that my mother’s last name is Zhu…

"Yunqi!"

A shout interrupted Yunqi's reverie. He turned his head and saw that the door was open. It turned out that He Bingkun was standing in the yard.

He opened his mouth and sucked, and a ball of cold mist in the air that contained the moonlight of the moon was swallowed by him. He smiled and said, "You are finally awake. Do you know how long you have been watching?"

Yunqi was puzzled: "Isn't it from morning to night?"

He Bingkun shook his head, "No, it's already the third night."

Yunqi was surprised. How could so long have passed?
"If you don't wake up, I'll have to call you. It'll hurt my heart if it takes too long."

Yunqi nodded.

"Since you love reading, I'll give you the lamp on the table. The method of refining is written on the paper under the lamp. You can try refining it after you eat the Qi."

Yunqi was a little surprised, "Brother Dao, no reward without merit."

"What's the point of it? Just take it. It's not worth much. It's just a gift for meeting you."

Yunqi then accepted it and bowed to express his gratitude.

 Received invitation to sign contract.
