Chapter 58: Entering the City of Leden Again
Chapter 58: Entering the City of Leden Again
early morning.
The four-man team entered the city of Leden from the south.
Compared with the previous few days, the collapse of buildings was more serious. Flames were burning all day long in many places, the air was filled with a foul smell, and occasional gunshots could be heard.
The building closest to the south is the canning factory, where a large number of firepower teams are deployed and it is also the starting point for soldiers to enter. The outer walls have been reinforced layer by layer at all costs, and it has withstood several rounds of bombing by fighter jets while still maintaining its basic framework.
The four of them left from the side door of the canning factory. Si Ning walked in front with a swagger, striding with a pair of graceful long legs. Even though they were covered by military pants, their length and beauty were still visible, which was out of place on the battlefield filled with smoke.
Jiang He knew that this guy's true body must be hidden somewhere else, and such a conspicuous movement could serve as bait.
Because the officer seemed too leisurely, the two privates also relaxed a lot. When leaving the school, the retired officer gave an inspiring speech. He made a well-founded estimate of the situation. Before winter came, the army would be able to enter Berlin and capture the Prussian emperor alive.
Si Ning walked out of the abandoned factory building when a bullet hit her from the side and pierced her forehead. The blood splattered so realistically that she fell to the ground and even stirred up dust.
"Sir!"
David exclaimed, then quickly retreated to find cover.
"I'll fight you!"
Charles XIV jumped out of the factory with an extremely excited look, even to the point of appearing ferocious. He almost raised the rifle in his hand and repeatedly shot at the second floor of a house in the distance, fighting very bravely.
Someone who was well prepared found the sniper's position by following the direction of the bullet, but the other party might leave immediately after firing the shot. Fortunately, a sparrow was flying around the house, and its speed was similar to that of an ordinary person.
Jiang He pulled the trigger of Scarlet Baptism, and the bullet hit the wall at a distance of two hundred meters. The sparrows were startled and flew away. The bullet with fragmentation effect shattered the bricks and stones, and a scream was heard. Without the extraordinary power of a knight, even if there were obstacles to reduce the kinetic energy, it would be difficult to resist the shooting of the secret treasure firearm.
"The new guy is a little crazy. You seem a little abnormal too."
Si Ning walked out from the shadows, and the hypnotic imaging technology made her look like a ghost.
Jiang He turned the gun around and aimed at the other party.
Si Ning's eyes showed a trace of confusion. He reached out and grasped the flower sword at his waist, which looked like a decoration, and said vigilantly, "What are you doing?"
"The two sentences are related, and there are similarities between them. If these two points are met, it will be the minimum condition for triggering the Abyss Logic Disease."
Si Ning was slightly annoyed and said, "That will cost a lot of energy. I'm not indifferent to occasions. At worst, we can just stay away from each other."
Jiang He took out a handful of black gems and stuffed them into his pocket, saying, "If you want to cooperate, then cooperate honestly. If I become mentally ill, I will be the first to blow you up. From now on, the distance between us cannot exceed five meters."
Charles XIV was driven back to the factory by a burst of rifle fire. As soon as he entered the door, he saw two officers confronting each other. David, who just graduated from school, was at a loss. This team was obviously unreliable.
Si Ning took a step back, moved closer, rearranged an image, walked in front, and disappeared again.
"Wait a minute, the commander is actually alive. He must be a knight! Absolutely!" Charles XIV's eyes lit up.
David's face looked heavy. The danger increased exponentially when he acted with the knight.
The four advanced along the shadows among the ruins.
At the same time, a sparrow landed on Jiang He's shoulder, and Wuhe sent a letter through internal channels.
"There's news about the secret treasure of mental resistance you're looking for. It's called the Ring of the Free Bird, but its whereabouts need to be carefully investigated. Be careful here, Leden. There are too many angles for me to handle."
"Understood." It was not until noon that the four-man team broke away from the southern urban area under their control and entered the eastern district which was the war zone.
Fighter planes flew high in the sky, and the bombs they dropped caused smoke and dust to rise into the sky. On the third-story roof, a Prussian squad successfully blocked the street below with a Maxim heavy machine gun.
An entire company of British infantry launched a death charge. As the fire swept through, the soldiers fell one after another. The commanding lieutenant was blown away by a landmine and hit the wall, his brain bursting. In the blink of an eye, only half of the team of nearly two hundred people was left.
The second company promptly took over the achievements and maintained the fierce offensive. While the Maxim heavy machine guns were reloading, the deputy battalion commander, captain, personally led the team to charge.
Three hundred soldiers attacked the building frantically and seemed to be about to succeed in breaking through. However, the open space in front of the building was covered with mines. Thunder exploded one after another, and black smoke and dust covered the battlefield. The captain was killed and the soldiers fled in panic, all retreating to the church across the street.
"I refuse to pass through here. Image invisibility cannot stop a full-scale barrage from a heavy machine gun."
A cold voice sounded in the deserted place.
Jiang He hid behind a half-collapsed wall and used a monocular telescope to observe the firing position. Two black gem chaos bombs could solve the problem. The advantage of this type of bomb is that it is small, concealed and easy to transport, but there are only six or seven people in this position, so it is not worth it for him to consume his reserves.
"The dispatch desk is in the East District. Let's go to the church first."
Si Ning had no objection. She entered the city of Leden only to kill the Cheetah Knight and complete the main mission. Otherwise, espionage warfare was what she was better at. As for the two privates, they had no say in the direction of the action.
The four of them immediately took action.
There were wailing sounds in the church, and wounded soldiers with broken limbs were everywhere, and the smell of blood was overwhelming.
The deputy battalion commander and the main captain were killed in the battle, and Captain Tommy took over the situation. His assistant was no longer the one who was brought in at the beginning. If divided by generations, he was already the seventh or eighth generation.
"Guard the area around the church!"
"Abandon the seriously injured and save the first aid supplies for those who can survive!"
"Redistribute the ammunition!"
Orders were issued one after another, some of which caused dissatisfaction among the soldiers. Tommy executed three privates who intended to escape with an expressionless face before he stabilized the situation.
“How much is left?”
Hearing the familiar voice and question, Tommy turned around and saw his old comrade whom he had not seen for many days. There was no joy of reunion on his face. After all, no one knew when death would come.
"134 people, we can barely charge once more."
Tommy felt a little melancholy as he looked at the corpses and wounded soldiers all over the ground.
Si Ning whispered quietly, "These British guys are all brain-dead. I was invited to observe Haig's human wave tactics before. It was just like a military parade. On the day of the general attack, there were 60,000 casualties, which was more than you could kill with a pig. It was an eye-opener."
Jiang He glared at her. As a knight, Tommy also had his basic qualities improved by two attribute points. While his strength, stamina and agility were not outstanding, the Wildebeest Knight was probably specialized in spirit, so he could definitely hear from this distance.
"So I'm going to drive the Prussians through that minefield," Tommy said coldly. "Soldiers can't be wasted any more."
Jiang He was slightly surprised, "Where did you come from, Prussian?"
"Some citizens of Leden who did not evacuate are now in the cellar of the church." Tommy turned and left.
Jiang He remained silent. From being full of passion to being numb and bored, and then to undisguised hatred, the war had left deep marks and changes on the other side.
