Chapter 96: Hive and Credits
Chapter 96: Hive and Credits
"Brother Ivan, please look at my back carefully." Gina turned around and exposed her fair back to Ivan. "This is the insect nest used for breeding insects."
She had a special thing tied to her back, like some kind of long keratin tube, which was tightly wrapped around and around to form an oval disk that was tightly attached to her back.
Ivan finally reacted and took a closer look. It felt soft when he pinched it with his fingers. "Is this a shell shed by something?"
"Yes, this is made from the shell shed naturally by a swamp worm. Don't be fooled by its ugly appearance, but it is a low-level magic item worth 500 magic stones. With it, the worms have a place to live and it is convenient to carry with you."
Gina turned suddenly.
The ball that turned around almost hit Ivan's face, but fortunately he took two steps back in time.
"You be the judge. I said it's better to place the insect nest like this, but Mien said it's better to wrap it directly around the body. He doesn't find it disgusting at all. What do you think?" Gina said as she gestured on her body. Her curvy body showed more rhythm.
Ivan came to his senses and realized that this woman was definitely doing it on purpose. Could it be that she liked teasing her junior brother? What a novel and evil taste. He was not a novice, and his senior sister had undoubtedly miscalculated.
"Well, I agree with what Senior Sister said."
He simply satisfied his senior sister's interest and enjoyed it openly.
"Ivan, I didn't ask you to stare ahead."
"But Senior Sister didn't say we can't watch it."
"Lecherous brat."
Seeing how frankly lustful he was, Gina realized that this junior fellow was not as easy to tease as Mien, and she put on her wizard robe without much interest.
She casually introduced her own school. The other disciples of her master had either died, quit, or disappeared without a trace. Now there were only four of them left.
Gina herself entered the profession two years earlier than Mien, who in turn entered the profession more than a year earlier than Ivan.
"In the academy, we are a member of the Enchanting Group. The leader of the Enchanting Group is Wizard Lydia, who is also one of the vice presidents of the academy."
"Lydia?"
Ivan's heart skipped a beat. Isn't this Cam's last name? That guy is indeed from an important background.
Gina nodded: "Lydia is a very influential wizard family in our academy. You must not provoke them. In addition, there are the Steele family and the Wakin family--"
There are three deans in Mona Ant Lodge. The chief dean is from the Wakin family, and the two vice-deans are from the Lydia family and the Steele family respectively. The leader of the cultivation group is from the Wakin family, and the leader of the pharmacy group is from the Steele family. These three families play an important role in the academy.
Ivan really didn't expect the situation in the academy to be so complicated. It seems that no matter which world you go to, you can't avoid this kind of interpersonal network.
He suddenly thought of the credit exchange when paying tuition. This rule was not beneficial to newcomers coming from afar to Tidal Island, but provided convenience to people from the wizard family.
"Don't think too much, let's practice ours."
"That's true. When we are strong enough, we can represent a big family ourselves."
"Haha, you're ambitious." Gina patted him on the back. "Anything else you want to ask?"
Ivan was not polite: "Where can I buy the mental potion?"
"You also want to ask about the mental power prescription, right?" Seeing him nod, Gina said, "You can buy mental power potions from the shops in the trading area, but there are very few mental power potions in the shops there, and mental power prescriptions are something that the academy absolutely prohibits from selling.
So basically, you can only exchange credits at the college sales office, or find someone to exchange them privately, as long as you don’t get caught by the patrol team.”
On this point, Ivan didn't think there was anything wrong. The academy must always have means to restrain apprentices. The mental power prescription is like the salt and iron in ancient times, so as to maintain a complete order.
"How do you earn credits?"
"Perform our duties." Ivan was stunned for a moment, then quickly responded: "Enchantment?"
Gina nodded: "The way people in the enchantment group usually earn credits is enchantment."
I see. This is probably the significance of dividing the team into different groups. It's a pity that newcomers cannot choose which department to join. Learning enchantments and runes is imperative.
It was a rare opportunity for someone to answer her questions, so Ivan asked her many questions in succession. Gina showed the patience of a good senior sister and answered them one by one.
"That's all. Just walk around the academy and take a look around. Other questions will naturally be answered by others."
"Thank you for your guidance, Senior Sister."
"No need to thank me. Just don't refuse me next time I ask you for something."
Ivan didn't know whether she was joking or serious, so he nodded silently.
After saying goodbye to Gina, Ivan came to the exclusive sales office in the college's trading area. Like the previous payment office, it only had a window facing the outside, and a white-haired apprentice was sitting inside.
"Brother, how can I change the recipe for the spiritual power potion?"
The old man gave him a sidelong glance and said, "Who is your senior brother? Stop yelling."
It turned out that the old man had a bad temper. Ivan was secretly dissatisfied and reorganized his words and asked again.
The old man said, "First class is 20 credits, second class is 100 credits, and third class is 300 credits."
This is too expensive, the price is exactly twice that of the potion. Gina's guess is correct.
Ivan thought about the 10 credits he had left, which were far from enough to exchange for a second-class mental power medicine prescription.
"You think it's too expensive? How about I show you something cheaper?" Seeing his embarrassed look, the old man knew that he had met another poor guy, but he couldn't let the business that was delivered to his door slip away.
"Are there any cheaper ones?"
"Choose whatever you want, 10 credits per side."
The old man threw out a booklet, and Ivan quickly flipped through it. It turned out to be an incomplete prescription, such as some kind of heart-eroding potion and withering potion. Not only were they incomplete but they also looked a bit dishonest. Most of them contained some kind of toxins that would bring a great burden to the body.
"Magic Crystal Water?" Ivan kept flipping through the booklet, becoming more and more disappointed the more he read. It was not as if he had a bubble in his brain. He would not choose a complete recipe but an incomplete one. He did not expect that the last page would record a complete recipe.
"The recipe is complete, but it is widely circulated, so the price has always been very low." The old man explained after hearing this, and asked expectantly, "How about it, do you want to buy it?"
"Wait until I earn some credits." Ivan shook his head.
"Why are you asking this without any credits? You're wasting my time. You must be the newcomer in the pharmacy group. You're so rude. I'll remember you." The old man took the booklet handed to him out of habit and started cursing at the figure who was turning away.
Ivan turned a deaf ear to her. Gina said that there were many old apprentices in the academy who had lost their potential for advancement. Some of them had bad personalities and couldn't stand apprentices with potential. They had a sullen face all day long. It was a thankless task and a loss of status to argue with them.
This old man must be one of them.
"You said it's widely circulated, why should I buy it from you?"
Ivan smiled secretly. Credits were not easy to earn, so there was no need to waste them here.
Afterwards, he came to a row of low houses in the trading area. There were more than a dozen shops here and some people were setting up stalls not far away. He had just taken a quick look and saw a mess of things on the stalls, including animal horns, scales, and blood jelly. It was a mess.
This is a small market for apprentices to trade. The shops are much more formal than the stalls. He chose a pharmacy and walked in.
