The dwarf continued as he stirred the mushroom soup in the iron pot, "Then there are spiders. There are many kinds of spiders in the Underdark. The drow elves regard spiders as the sacred animals of their goddess, so they don't hunt spiders. Other underground races have the habit of hunting spiders for food.

"In some places, you can also encounter rock crabs, lizard beasts, and brain-eating monsters, all of which can be eaten."

Elizabeth: "Brain-eater?"

Wang: "A monster that looks like a walking brain with arms and legs. It likes to stick to its prey's head, dissolve the skull with its secretions and eat the brain."

Elizabeth was so frightened that she raised her hands to protect her head.

Wang: "They are more interested in people with higher intelligence. Those with lower intelligence will be ignored by them."

Elizabeth pouted: "Yes, yes, I am stupid, I don't need to worry about being targeted by the brain-eating monster."

Xiao Bai looked at the dwarf and said, "You just mentioned a race that lives underground? Are there many other races underground?"

Although Xiaobai was asking about dwarves, Wang took the initiative to answer: "There are quite a lot of intelligent races underground. In addition to the drow elves, there are also gray dwarves, deep gnomes, kuo-toa and so on. But except for the furu, no one is friendly to the surface races. Basically, they will fight when they meet them."

Xiaobai: "Fulu?"

Wang: "A type of jellyfish that lives underground and can float in the air, propulsing itself through jets."

Xiaobai: “Is it delicious?”

Wang: "No, no, no, Furu is an intelligent creature that has the intelligence to communicate with humans. And they are very kind. They are basically the only intelligent creatures in the Underdark that don't want to turn you into a slave or a food reserve.

"Moreover, they feed on spiritual energy, especially the evil thoughts of evil creatures. They will understand the plans of evil creatures when absorbing their energy. If they encounter adventurers, Furu will tell the adventurers about the evil plans he has learned about and guide them to eliminate the source of evil."

Xiaobai: "Then they will have no food?"

Wang: "Yes, Furu would rather starve itself than destroy the source of evil. So it is a very kind creature. You can't eat it."

Xiao Bai was shocked: "Well, I guess jellyfish doesn't taste that good."

Elizabeth exclaimed: "I didn't know there were such amazing animals in the world. What other intelligent creatures are there underground?"

King: "Underground bearmen, ratmen, and mind flayers. And the aboleths are also intelligent creatures, although they are a group of fish."

Flint, who was cooking soup, suddenly snorted, "The Aboleth, the Horn of Cailin, is the most terrifying underground creature I have ever seen. I would rather fight against an entire army of gray dwarves than encounter a single Aboleth.

"Luckily, they are also very rare in the Underdark. The last time I encountered them during my adventure, I was near the Giant's Cup."

Elizabeth exuded curiosity: "Giant's Cup?"

Wang: "A collective name for a series of underground lakes in the middle layer of the Underdark."

Elizabeth raised an eyebrow. "The Underdark is divided into layers?"

Wang: "Of course it is divided into three layers according to depth. The middle layer has a series of cavities that store a large amount of groundwater and many underground lakes. The Giant's Cup is the most famous of them."

Xiaobai: "Are we on the upper level now?"

"Yes," Flint announced loudly after a pause. "The mushroom soup is ready. The high temperature should have broken down the toxins in the mushrooms. I'll try a bite first."

He took out a wooden beer mug, scooped a big spoonful of mushroom soup, and drank it all up, chewing the mushroom chunks while smacking his lips: "Hmm, not bad. Gao Chuike, would you like a bowl?"

Wang frowned slightly and pointed out: "There is a rock in the direction you are looking."

Gotrik raised his hand on the other side of the dwarf. "I'm here."

The dwarf was shocked. "What? I mistook the stone for Gotrek? I was wondering why it felt a bit strange. Damn, the poison of the mushrooms has not completely dissipated. I have to cook it for a while longer."

As he spoke, the dwarf picked up the stick he had just used to stir the soup and tried to put it into the pot again, but it stuck into the soil next to the campfire.

Wang: "You are completely stunned. Let me do it. Gotrek, let him lie down on the bed."

Gaotrick responded, picked up the dwarf and went to the side.

The king took over the dwarf's place and began stirring the mushroom soup.

Elizabeth swallowed her saliva and said, "To be honest, this soup smells pretty good. I kind of want to drink it."

Wang: "Do you also want to be like the dwarf and mistake the stone for Gotrick?"

Elizabeth shook her head hastily.

Xiaobai sighed, took out the dried meat from his dimensional bag, lay on the ground, held it with both hands and started chewing.

Nini stood at the edge of the campfire, on guard alert.

For a moment, Elizabeth and the king were the only two people sitting by the campfire.

Elizabeth suddenly laughed and said, "I have fantasized about camping in the Underdark many times before. At that time, I could only imagine the Underdark as a place like a mushroom forest based on the descriptions in the bard's epic poems."

As she spoke, she raised her head and looked at the sky above the cave.

Various luminous mushrooms and mosses make the entire surface of the rock formation covered with star-like lights, looking like the night sky.

Elizabeth: "I didn't expect to be able to see the 'starry sky' underground."

The dwarf, who was now lying on the blanket, said, "If you close your eyes, you can even hear the whispers of the stones."

"Really?" Elizabeth actually closed her eyes. "I...didn't hear it."

Wang: "He ate too many mushrooms. If you eat some mushrooms too, you will probably hear it."

As he said this, he took out a large wooden spoon from his dimensional bag, scooped a spoonful from the iron pot, and came to Elizabeth: "Come on, don't talk about the sound of the stones, you may even see the stones singing and dancing."

The king was actually joking when he said this, but he didn't expect Elizabeth to actually come over and take a sip.

He quickly tried to take back the spoon, but was caught by the girl.

Not only did the girl finish the soup in the spoon, she also picked up the largest mushroom.

Because the mushrooms were so big, Elizabeth had to pinch the mushroom stems with her hands after letting go of the spoon, so that she could eat the mushrooms in small bites.

Wang looked at her sucking her fingers and asked, "Did you... hear the sound of the stone?"

Elizabeth closed her eyes. "Well, I didn't hear it. But the mushrooms are delicious."

Wang raised his right index finger and waved it in front of her: "Open your eyes and see what time it is."

Elizabeth opened her eyes and said confidently, "Yes."

Wang: “No double image?”

"No, try it, it's really edible now."

Wang frowned and looked into the pot. Just at this moment, his stomach made a loud gurgling sound, so he scooped a small spoonful of soup and a piece of cubed mushroom stem and drank it carefully.

Xiao Bai: "I have prepared a spell to remove the poison. If you have any questions, just call me."

Wang: "It's delicious and fresh. Can this kind of mushroom be grown on the floating island?"

Xiaobai: "If I were a druid who was good at taking care of plants, I might be able to answer you."

At this time, Elizabeth stretched out her slender index finger and waved it in front of the king: "What number is this?"

Wang: “Yes, two.”

Elizabeth smiled and patted him: "Disgusting."

At this moment, Nini suddenly turned her head and drew the bow smoothly.

Then Marika emerged from the shadows: "Don't be nervous, it's me!"

Wang put down the spoon and stood up: "What is Elizabeth in our team?"

There are monsters underground who are good at disguising themselves and using illusions, so before Marika went to investigate, Wang agreed on a secret code with her.

Marika: "He is the 'leader' of our team."

Elizabeth said coquettishly, "Do we have to agree on a code to make fun of me?"

Neither Wang nor Marika paid any attention to her.

Wang said seriously, "Why did you come back so soon? Did you find out the tunnels made by the tunnel worms?"

Marika: "Before exploring the tunnel, I scouted the surrounding area. You'd never guess what I found. About two kilometers from here, there is a fairly large Duergar ruin."

Wang: "Is it a relic or a facility that the gray dwarves are currently using?"

Marika: "It's a ruin. It was built next to an underground lake. Underground lakes are quite rare at this depth. I found a large number of Kuo-Toa in the ruins."

Elizabeth: "So you're back to suggest we go explore right away?"

Marika: "No, I came back to warn everyone. There is a Kuo-Toa fishman's nest nearby, so this place is not safe. Kuo-Toa fishmen often hunt down adventurer teams."

King: "But where can we run to? Since you are back, why don't you stay and strengthen the defense of the camp? Tomorrow we will go to the ruins of the gray dwarves to see, maybe there is a way to return to the ground in the ruins."

Marika thought about it and nodded: "That's fine."

King: "Then let's eat quickly. The elves and drow will be in charge of the night watch, and the others should take the time to rest."

Elizabeth suddenly smiled: "Finally, I feel like I'm on an adventure."

The king nodded: "Yes, the ground is behind us, and adventure is just around the corner!"

Postscript to Volume 4

I named this volume "Fluorescence in the Underdark", and originally I wanted to write about all underground adventures.

As a result, there was farming and crusades, but no underground exploration - although an ancient machine was touched, the whole process was on the ground, just inside a huge extradimensional colonization machine.

When I was writing the middle and late parts, I suddenly realized, "Oh my god, why is there another war?" In the previous volumes, there was always a war at the end, and I was tired of writing about it, so this time I chose a slacking perspective where I didn't have to participate in the war, trying to add some freshness.

After all, the Church Crusaders are professional in dealing with undead creatures.

As for farming, I didn't intend to write so much, but once I started, I couldn't stop. It felt like the time when I wrote about farming in Wuyou Palace in "My World War II Can't Be This Cute".

Judging from the current progress of farming, it seems that gunpowder weapons will soon be born in this plane.

It just so happens that I really like "Pillars of Eternity". In this game, gunpowder weapons have become popular. Every member of the adventure team is equipped with a musket. When the battle starts, everyone fires a volley first, and then those who need to cast spells will cast spells, and those who need to use knives will chop with knives.

So there is nothing wrong with the musket, just think of it as a substitute for the crossbow.

Overall, this volume does not have any clear main plot. Although many characters are introduced, apart from Minsk, not much effort is put into shaping the others.

The main reason is that when I was writing this volume, I was playing games at the same time. When I was playing games, I basically didn’t want to write a book, which resulted in my thoughts being a little scattered.

It feels like the previous volumes were all about the main story, and this volume suddenly has a collection of short stories. People who often follow Japanese light novels should be familiar with this feeling.

After reaching chapter 50, I realized that this volume was about to end, and I started to unwind. So Minsk temporarily left, Gaines temporarily became a "resident singer" in the tavern, and the half-elf mammy and the paladin also temporarily became resident guests on the island.

The Crusade was also over, and the "threads" related to Shallow Water City left over from the previous volume were also picked up.

There are also contents related to farming, which have temporarily achieved phased results.
