Chapter 10: Dog Meat Shop Found
Chapter 10: Dog Meat Shop Found
Xu Yiqing's phone call was like a shot in the arm for the stagnant case investigation.
It’s a pity that it’s getting late now, so even if we want to investigate new stores we have to wait until daytime.
After all, Xu Yiqing was just a forensic doctor. He had no right to interfere or participate in the criminal police's investigation, so no matter how anxious he was, he could only go home and rest and wait for the results.
After returning home, Xu Yiqing opened the door and looked at the empty room without turning on the lights.
He drew aside the bed curtains, letting in the moonlight from the window.
I poured myself a glass of milk, washed some grapes from the refrigerator, sat on the sofa, and ate quietly in the room lit only by moonlight.
Throughout the whole day, I only ate the steamed buns in the morning. The lunch box I ordered from the Criminal Police Brigade at noon was completely a mess. Now I am eating some fruits but I don’t feel hungry at all.
Xu Yiqing's mind was not on eating at all, he was always thinking about things.
Will the new clues bring new progress to the confusing case?
After eating the fruit, Xu Yiqing took out his cell phone and checked the time.
It's almost dawn... Looking back on this busy day, I am exhausted both physically and mentally as if I have been running around for a long time, but in fact it has not even been 24 hours since the crime happened.
At this time yesterday, Li Yueyue was still alive. She had eaten dog meat that she got from who knows where, corrected her students' homework, and prepared for the next day's work.
But life is unpredictable.
No one knew what happened to her in the following hours and what led to her ending up like that.
Forensic doctors have extraordinary willpower, do not believe in ghosts and gods, and respect the dead.
Even so, Xu Yiqing's mind couldn't help but emerge the scene of sewing Li Yueyue's corpse in the evening.
In the photo with colleagues, Li Yueyue has a bright smile and is shy.
The head lying in the coffin had a painful and hideous expression.
He fulfilled his promise and took good care of Li Yueyue's remains. It looked like Li Yueyue was asleep in the coffin.
Li Dusheng was very grateful for this and claimed that he owed him a favor.
Xu Yiqing didn't care about this favor. He only told Li Dusheng that he hoped he would never see a corpse related to Li Dusheng on the dissection table in the future... or see Li Dusheng himself.
Li Dusheng remained silent for a long time and did not agree.
This Jiangcheng boss is just like what Du Yu said, he always keeps his word, he disdains to lie, and naturally he disdains to make frivolous promises.
Xu Yiqing knew what he was hesitating about. If Li Dusheng really caught the murderer who killed his sister first, even a three-year-old child would know how miserable that person would be.
Du Yu hated this so much that he frowned in the serious crime squad and cursed Li Dusheng for his crimes... But Du Yu knew very well that this was human nature, and it was understandable that Li Dusheng wanted to tear the murderer to pieces with his bare hands.
So he could only squeeze himself harder, breaking one minute into two parts, solving the case earlier, living up to the police uniform, and leaving everything to the law that he could and only trusted.
Xu Yiqing asked himself, what would he do if he found the real murderer who killed his brother?
In the moonlit room, Xu Yiqing thought for a long time but came to no conclusion.
So he simply didn't go back to bed and slept on the big sofa in the living room.
Close your eyes and have a good rest to recover from the overtime and hard work during this period, and look forward to good news tomorrow.
Nothing happened all night.
The next day, Xu Yiqing slept until he woke up naturally, and when he opened his eyes, it was already eight o'clock in the morning.
He quickly took out his cell phone, but there was not a single missed call.
Both Lin Sheng's forensic department and Du Yu's serious crime team were very considerate and wanted him to rest more so they deliberately did not disturb him.
But not disturbing does not mean that there is no progress in the case.
The superiors gave us 48 hours to solve the case, but now there are less than hours left.
Taking into account the difficulty of handling cases at night, it will only take today's day.
So Xu Yiqing called Du Yu. The phone rang for a long time before it was connected.
Du Yu said bluntly on the phone: "The dog meat restaurant has been found, and the owner is on the way to the serious crime team."
Xu Yiqing said: "Then I will go right over."
-
Arriving at the interrogation room of the serious crime squad, Xu Yiqing met the dog meat restaurant owner and his wife who had arrived only five minutes earlier than him.
The proprietress was in her forties, overweight, about 1.5 meters tall, but her face gave people a very shrewd feeling. After entering the police station, although there was a trace of panic in her eyes, she still acted timidly and grabbed the police officer's arm to argue.
She glared, making herself look more formidable than a cat with its fur standing on end, and firmly claimed that her family's business was absolutely legal, and that it must be a colleague two streets away or a neighbor who had been splashed with water by her who had done something wrong and brought her to the police station.
The boss is very tall, nearly 1.9 meters tall, but so thin that one would suspect he would fly out of the door on the wind at the next second.
Unlike his wife who was fierce, the boss was very dull. He was very nervous as it was the first time in his life to enter a police station. He was sitting on a bench. When the police handed him water, he stood up in panic and took the paper cup with both hands, and then he didn't dare to sit down.
The glass of water was held in my hand, neither drinking nor putting it down.
Seeing him like this, the proprietress had to devote half of her attention to attacking him while cursing her colleagues, neighbors and all other imaginary enemies, saying that he was a coward and that she blamed her marriage.
Du Yu's ears hurt. He waved his hand and said, "It has nothing to do with what I said. We asked you to come here to investigate a case."
The proprietress was suspicious: "Investigating the case?"
After getting rid of the possible smell on her body, she first breathed a sigh of relief and her tone became noticeably slower, but then she didn't want to be involved in any other smells.
"We are a small business, how can we be involved in any case?"
Xu Yiqing sat quietly beside him. Interrogation and investigation were his special duties as a forensic doctor, and it was an exception for him to come and listen.
So everything fell on Du Yu.
Fortunately, Du Yu is professional.
He took out Li Yueyue's photo and asked, "Have you seen this person?"
The boss and his wife just glanced at the phone screen and nodded rapidly.
The police on duty had confirmed with them that the dog meat restaurant was near the village in the city where Li Yueyue originally lived. The police checked with Li Yueyue's photo and found the couple who had run the dog meat restaurant for more than ten years.
The silent boss spoke first, "This is a regular customer of our store."
The proprietress nodded immediately and said, "He's a very nice person."
Du Yu and Xu Yiqing looked at each other.
The boss lady's temper acted as if the whole world owed her eight hundred dollars, but when it came to Li Yueyue, it was an exception.
This is consistent with the previous investigation by the serious crime squad. Li Yueyue is known to have good relationships with people.
Du Yu continued to ask: "When was the last time she went to your store to buy dog meat?"
The lady boss said, "It was yesterday."
The boss frowned and corrected: "It was the day before yesterday."
The lady boss suddenly realized, "Yes, yes, it was the day before yesterday. The day before yesterday at around six or seven in the evening, she came to buy half a pound of dog meat... She always came at this time in the past."
Du Yu took note and asked, "Are you familiar with her? I want to know more about her."
The lady boss said, "This guy lives near my store and is very familiar with the neighbors."
The boss added: "But I have a bad relationship with an old man in the village. We had a fight in front of my store a few days ago."
Everyone's mind moved, as if they had grasped something.
Xu Yiqing was particularly concerned and asked, "What was the quarrel about?"
The boss hesitated, "Li Yueyue said that the old man was obsessed with money and had no humanity at all. No wonder no one followed him. The old man cursed Li Yueyue to die a miserable death."
