Chapter 23 The Lazy Man Marries a Beautiful Woman
Chapter 23 The Lazy Man Marries a Beautiful Woman
Li Changle went to the ditch to wash his face and came back to the house. Seeing her changing clothes in the room, he handed her the money he had just sold, "Put it away. I'll take Xiaohai and Xiaozhou to the town to see Dad and then come back."
Zhou Ruonan took it and locked the money in the drawer. "Go to Aqing's house and borrow his bicycle. I'll clean Xiaohai and Xiaozhou and change their clothes."
"Okay!" Li Changle looked at his wife who was smiling with curved eyebrows, and his heart was warm. He put his arm around her and said, "Don't worry, honey. I will work hard to earn money to support the family in the future."
Zhou Ruonan nodded embarrassedly, and quickly pushed him away, "Let me go, it's getting dark..."
Li Changle immediately took it, "Okay! Hug me when it gets dark!"
"Go to hell! It's getting dark soon. I need to clean Xiaozhou and Xiaohai quickly so you can go to town to see dad. Otherwise, you'll have to come back in the dark."
Zhou Ruonan said as she pushed him away. Li Changle didn't expect her to do that. He lost his balance and took two steps back. He sat down on the bed, holding his buttocks and yelling, "Ouch! Ouch..."
"What's wrong? Did you hurt your coccyx?" Zhou Ruonan stepped forward anxiously, but he pulled her over and made her sit on his lap. "Hehe! My wife still cares about me!"
Zhou Ruonan blushed and pushed him away, "You're so annoying. You scared me." Then she glared at him again before turning around and leaving.
Li Changle rubbed his buttocks, lay on the bed and waited for a while before getting up and walking outside.
Zhou Ruonan cleaned the two children, changed them into clean clothes, and put on plastic sandals. Then Li Changle came back pushing his bicycle.
"Wow!" Li Xiaozhou jumped up happily, "Brother, hurry up, let's ride a bicycle to see Grandpa!"
Li Changle stretched out his hand to his happy little son, "Come, Dad will hold you in the front, and your brother will sit in the back!"
"I can climb up by myself!" Li Xiaozhou walked up to him, stepped on the triangle bar and was about to climb up.
Li Changle put his arm around him and asked him to sit down. Turning back, he saw Li Xiaohai had already climbed into the back seat and sat down. Zhou Ruonan carefully reminded him to spread his legs and not get caught in the wheel wire.
Li Xiaohai nodded repeatedly, "Don't worry, I'll be careful."
Li Changle looked back at him and said, "Hold on to Dad's waist, be careful not to fall down."
"Oh!" The child hugged his waist obediently. The father and his two sons waved to Zhou Ruonan and pedaled their bicycles towards the alley.
Li Xiaozhou held the faucet with both hands and shouted to the old lady who was sitting in the back row picking vegetables in the yard, "Grandma Chun, you're cooking! My dad is taking us to town to see my grandpa."
Grandma Chun looked up and smiled, "Little Zhou, be good and say hello to your grandpa and grandma for me!"
"remember!"
The little guy kept chattering all the way, and when his bicycle reached the front row, a bald, crooked-necked child came out of the alley.
"Laowai, my dad found another large sea eel this afternoon, and now he's taking us to town on his bicycle to see grandpa."
Li Changle really only realized now that her youngest son, who used to be silent for a long time, was actually a chatterbox when he was young!
Lao Wai stood by the road and looked at them enviously, "Are you going to Tuxiaqiao?" "Yes!" Li Xiaozhou nodded proudly, "My grandfather is in Tuxiaqiao Hospital, let's go there to see him."
"I've only been to Pan Town, but I've never been to Tuxia Bridge!" Lao Wai said as he watched the bicycle going away.
Half an hour later, the father and his two sons arrived at Tuxiaqiao Hospital. Li Changle waited for the two brothers to get off the bicycles, parked their bicycles in the carport under the courtyard wall, and led them towards the inpatient department.
Li Changle saw his eldest son looking at everything around him curiously, and thought of the medical university he attended in his previous life. After graduation, he worked as a doctor in the largest hospital in Vancouver and was the first child in the village to be admitted to university.
The villagers envied him, saying that when he was young, he relied on his parents and his wife, and when he was old, he had his son to rely on. Lazy people have good fortune!
What they didn’t know was that although the two children would send money back to him and come back for Qingming Festival and Chinese New Year, they never came back to see him at other times, not even a phone call. Even when their home was demolished, they didn’t even see a single person…
Li Xiaohai pulled him aside and said, "Dad, look at grandma and great aunt!"
Li Changle looked up and saw A Niang and a woman in a white and blue slanted-collared dress walking towards her, apparently to escort her out.
"Grandma, we're here to see Grandpa." Li Xiaozhou let go of him and ran quickly towards Li's mother.
Mother Li hugged her grandson and looked at the father and son behind him. "It's almost dark, what are you doing here?"
"Grandma, my dad went fishing in the seafood market this afternoon..." Li Xiaozhou said to her with his hands and feet gesticulating excitedly.
Mother Li said to her aunt happily, "Look, Ah Le really wants to change. He used to say he was going to quit, but he only went with us once. He either lay by the rocks or shoveled his sand to do his homework."
Li Guixiang curled her lips and said, "He's already a father of two children. If he doesn't change his ways, who will help him raise his sons? Look, now Atang can't go fishing to earn money to support them. Can he rely on Nan, a woman, to raise the children?"
She has always disliked the lazy Li Changle, thinking that only her second brother and sister-in-law were so broad-minded and helped him support his wife and children. If it was her son, who didn't earn a penny at such an old age and ate for free at home all day, she would have driven him out to make a living long ago.
What a pity that such a good woman like An Nan would fall for Ah Le? It is true that a good man has no good wife, and a bad man marries a flowery woman!
Seeing that she didn't give Ah Le any face in front of the child, Li's mother felt unhappy, "Ah Le is already changing. He earns more in one day than we earn in half a year."
Li Guixiang sneered, "If you continue to spoil your son, you will suffer in the future!"
Li Changle knew that his aunt not only disliked him, but also envied him because her son was a worker in the supply and marketing cooperative, but he married a country woman who she thought was uneducated and uninformed, while he, a second-rate man, married such a good woman like An Nan.
After he knew about it in his previous life, he ignored her. Now that he was reborn and was in his forties, he smiled and greeted her, "Aunt!" Li Xiaohai also called out.
Mr. Li has four brothers and three sisters. His eldest uncle's family is the richest, his third uncle's family is also okay, and his fourth uncle's family is about the same condition as his own. He has several aunts. The eldest aunt married in Pan Town, the second aunt married in the next village, and the third aunt also married in the next village.
The two younger sisters have a good relationship, but the older one’s relationship with them is even worse than that with outsiders.
Li Guixiang got angry when she saw him smiling, "Your father hasn't been able to go to the beach to make a living for the past six months, so why is he still so careless?
Look, Xiaohai and Xiaozhou are already so old, it's time for them to do something and stop fooling around. Not only is it ruining the Li family's reputation, it's also embarrassing for me."
