Chapter 102 Heirs and Promises
After a long silence, someone screamed and Filch hurried over. He looked at Mrs. Norris, whose life or death was unknown, and let out a terrible scream.
When his bulging eyes caught sight of Harry's messy black hair, the janitor collapsed and tried to throw himself at Harry.
"You! You killed my cat! You killed him! I'm going to kill you! I'm going to--"
"Filch!"
Before the situation got out of control, Dumbledore and other teachers rushed over. They untied the stiff Mrs. Norris, and at Lockhart's suggestion, led Filch and the trio to the Defense Against the Dark Arts office.
Looking at the red words on the wall, and then at the place where Mrs. Norris had hung the letter, the paint on Draco's face was still as shiny as at the beginning, but his face was more serious than ever. He held Della's hand tightly, mixed with her in the crowd, and watched the group of people leave quietly.
"Draco?" Della beside him called him softly.
"......" Considering Aurora's pale face beside Della, Draco did not speak immediately. He just shook his head at Della, then whispered in her ear, "Let's go to my dormitory first."
In Hogwarts, boys cannot enter the girls' dormitory, but girls can enter the boys' dormitory. However, this is the first time Draco invites Della to his room. What is he going to say? It is probably related to such a vicious scene.
Staring at Draco's melancholy eyes, Della hummed softly. At the call of the prefects, they followed the crowd who were whispering all the way back to the Slytherin common room. After handing Aurora to Ellian, they walked into Draco's room together.
"You can sit here, Della." As soon as he entered the room, Draco first pulled out the chair in front of the desk. After Della sat down, he sat on the bed opposite Della. He looked serious and pursed his lips again and again, as if he wanted to say something but couldn't.
"Do you want to take care of it first?" Della pointed at her ears and the paint on her face. "Go get some hot water, Draco."
"You can wash the paint off with just one spell, can't you?" Draco replied.
"The wizarding world doesn't advocate using spells to do everything, and I think a little water can make people feel cleaner." Della said softly.
"Okay," Draco stood up absentmindedly, and just as he took a step with his head down, he suddenly looked at Della, "Will you come with me?"
"Draco?" Della frowned as she looked at Draco's somewhat empty gray eyes.
"Oh, I said something stupid. This is a men's dormitory." Draco shook his head. He couldn't say how upset he was. He was just stunned. He continued to instruct Della, "Stay here and don't go anywhere. I'll be back soon."
"..." Influenced by Draco's low tone, Della nodded unconsciously.
Draco walked out with the basin. Before leaving, he looked at Della as if to confirm something, as if he was worried that she would be the next Mrs. Norris.
......
This was strange, because despite the initial shock of witnessing the scene, Della could sense that Slytherin was the first house to relax.
The equal fear of life and death was soon replaced by relief and even gloating.
Draco gave her the feeling of being both relaxed and nervous. The relaxation probably came from the fact that he was not worried that such a vicious incident would happen to him, while the nervousness was probably directed at himself.
But why? Is there something different about me that makes me different from other Slytherins?
At this time, Draco came back with a basin of water. The impatience on his face slowly dissipated after he saw Della sitting steadily in the chair. "I'm back. There are more people in the public washroom today." He said as he put the basin of water on the table.
"It seems that the snake's tail I got is pretty good, and it has a separate bathroom." Della joked.
"Ah, yes! You live in a single room!" Draco raised his voice and immediately ran to Della's side. He bent down and held Della's hand tightly. "Stay here! Don't be alone!"
"Draco?" Della retracted her hand slightly, but couldn't break free from Draco's strength, so she could only question out loud.
"It would be better to go to Pansy's dormitory. There is one more bed in their dormitory!" Draco ignored Della's question and continued to speak anxiously to himself.
"Draco," Della looked into Draco's frightened grey eyes, her tone surprisingly calm, "You have to tell me what happened."
After this sound, Draco slowly regained his sanity. He exhaled and sat down on the bed behind him, still holding Della's hand tightly, "The Chamber of Secrets has been opened..."
"What's going to happen, Draco?" Della stood up with the force of Draco's hand and sat next to him. The two of them were close to each other, and their pointed ears, which had not yet turned back, touched each other lightly.
"Something terrible is going to happen. The last time the Chamber of Secrets was opened, a slime—" Draco suddenly choked, and then continued slowly, "A Muggle-born died..."
"Killed by that heir?" Della frowned, but her voice was still gentle.
"I'm not sure. My father only said that the last incident had a result and someone was sent to Azkaban. These were all fifty years ago. My father only told me these." Draco swallowed and held Della's hand more tightly. "I am now... I..."
"Are you worried about me, Draco?"
"No, of course not! You are a Slytherin. Salazar's heir should not attack Slytherin people! You will be fine!" Draco let go of his hand and hugged Della. His body trembled slightly and he whispered, "You have been sorted into Slytherin, it can't be... No, it definitely can't be..."
"I'm here. I'll be fine, Draco." Della did not resist Draco's strangling strength. Instead, she gently responded to the boy's hug. She patted Draco's back again and again, comforting him softly.
They kept this posture, and in a trance, they seemed to be back to that night in the forbidden forest when they fell together in the arms of each other. At that time, they also hugged each other tightly, being each other's only light and warmth in the darkness and falling, hugging each other tightly.
Finally, it was Draco who let go of Della first. When he let go of Della, he quickly wiped away the faint trace of tears on his face, then looked at Della with his misty gray eyes and asked softly, "You'll be fine, right?"
"I'll be fine, Draco." Della held up Draco's left hand and gently placed it against her face. She looked at him with seriousness in her eyes.
"I promise you, you will never lose me."
