Chapter 130: Receiving the Scripture
Chapter 130: Receiving the Scripture
The word "benefactor" made everyone look over.
The sword fighting competition of Huanzhu Louzhu and the round battle in West Kunlun have been talked about in recent years. These two events have also made some young talents well-known, and Cheng Xinzhan of Sanqing Mountain is definitely famous among them.
When everyone saw him, many of them recognized him and started calling him Cheng Sanyuan, Cheng Yifu, and Cheng Xinzhan.
Cheng Xinzhan bowed towards the building, but did not dare to go in, and fled in panic.
Jiang Nanjing chased out and said anxiously,
"My benefactor, why don't you come in and have a seat? All the young people of Yuzhang are here."
Cheng Xinzhan smiled and waved his hand.
I have become somewhat famous in recent years, but there is no need to show it off again and again. We are all young people, and no one wants to have a celebrity sitting next to them.
Besides, the sword fighting competition and the West Kunlun battle that made him famous were mostly in the first realm, and less in the second realm. After all, the lifespan of the entire second realm will no longer increase, and they are all busy looking for Gangsha and practicing magical powers. There were no heroes at that time, so he became famous.
Especially in the sword fighting meeting, the participants were suppressed by Huanzhu Louzhu, and they could not compete with each other. As for the West Kunlun incident, what really made him remembered was not his own ability, but the reputation of Yi Fu and the fact that he escaped from the hands of the Three Realms. However, he also had the help of his uncle, so it was really not worth boasting about.
However, Jiang Nanjing naturally didn't think of these things. He thought that Cheng Xinzhan was deliberately hiding his talent and fame, so he admired him even more.
There were really a lot of familiar people here today, and Cheng Xinzhan didn't have time to chat with Jiang Nanjing for a long time. They just said a few words and then parted ways.
He apologized to several of his fellow disciples and said that he would treat them to drinks when he returned to Sanqing Mountain.
Those people were also amazed. Who doesn't have a few friends when they go out? But it is indeed rare to see someone like Cheng Xinzhan who is greeted wherever he goes.
So after a discussion, they went back to Zi Que Tower to rest instead of wandering around outside.
It was soon the next morning and everyone gathered downstairs.
Again, a young Taoist priest came to lead the way, but this time there was no need for the Sanqing Mountain's magical instrument of transportation. The Taoist priest who led the way released a rainbow bridge, and everyone stepped on it. The landing end of the rainbow bridge was in the center of Xianding Mountain, and the starting end was under everyone's feet.
Everyone stepped onto the Rainbow Bridge and were carried forward by the bridge without having to move.
There were no less than a hundred such rainbow bridges, colorful and splendid, escorting guests from all directions to the ceremony venue.
When everyone arrived at the place, they found that it was also a flat-topped mountain. The top of the mountain had been flattened and paved with bricks and stones, forming a giant square.
In the square, thousands of Longhu Mountain disciples stood in a row, all wearing purple robes and yellow belts, holding floating pistols in their hands, in an orderly and majestic manner.
On the north side of the square there was a row of tall stands, carved with jade and magnificent. Every five steps there was a pine bonsai, every ten steps there was a copper incense burner, and as for fruits and drinks, there were some next to each seat.
The guide led the people from Sanqing Mountain to the stands.
In the center of the stands was a staircase covered with a green and yellow carpet with dragon and phoenix patterns. On both sides of the stairs, disciples from Mount Longhu stood to welcome guests.
When Cheng Xinzhan walked up the stairs, he saw Liang Zhenjing standing there, so he raised his hand and greeted him.
Liang Zhenjing was repeatedly defeated by Cheng Xinzhan and didn't want to respond at all, but this was a grand ceremony of the host family, and no matter how uncomfortable he felt, he had to greet him with a smile.
He leaned forward and raised his hand.
"Everyone please!"
The seats for the Sanqing Mountain guests were arranged on the west side of the top stairs, which was the second seat for the host and the best seat. The Zi Que Tower where they stayed last night was also one of the best residences in Yiting Mountain.
Given Sanqing Mountain's status in Yuzhang, it deserves such treatment.
When everyone sat down, they also found a jade plaque on each seat. Cheng Xinzhan picked it up and looked at it. It was warm to the touch. There were a few ink characters on the jade plaque, which were:
Commemorating the 40th Dragon-Tiger Dharma Assembly.
Cheng Xinzhan put away the jade token with a smile. Longhu Mountain was truly generous. Such top-grade warm jade was extremely useful for refining tools, making tablets, and making talismans. They actually gave it away as a gift, putting one on each seat. There were thousands of seats here.
After he sat down, he found that people from the Jingming Sect of the Wanshou Palace in Xishan, just below the Sanqing Mountain, had already taken their seats. This was the lineage of Xu Xun, the Tianshi Xu.
To the east of the Jingming Sect is the Shenxiao Sect of Bingfeng Mountain. This is the lineage of Taoist Master Wang Wenqing, and was later revived by Master Sa Shoujian and Sa Tianshi. It is also a first-class Taoist lineage.
Soon, the chief guest on the east side of the top floor also welcomed the guests. Cheng Xinzhan took a look and was not surprised at all.
It is the Lingbao Sect of Gezhao Mountain, one of the three mountains of talismans, and also the dharma lineage of Tianshi Ge Xuan. Tianshi Ge Xuan is the great-grandfather of the founder of Sanqing Mountain, Ge Hong. In other words, Sanqing Mountain and Gezhao Mountain are of the same surname and have been friendly neighbors for thousands of years.
With such strength and legal status, no one had any objection to him sitting at the chief guest position.
Now the top two rows are full, together with the main Longhu Mountain Tianshi Mansion, these are the top five Taoist sects in Yuzhang. These five sects are the top sects even in the entire Eastern Taoism universe.
Some people call it the Four Masters and Two Ges, referring to the four celestial masters Zhang Daoling, Ge Xuan, Sa Shoujian and Xu Xun, plus the immortal Ge Hong, who make up the five legal lineages.
This is the reason why Yuzhang is known as the Taoist capital of the world. The five legal systems refer to the five ancestral temples.
Then going further down, there are sects such as Lushan Mountain, Mingyue Mountain, and Yuxu Temple.
Sects like the Jinxiang Sect can only be ranked at the bottom.
By the time the people from Gezhaoshan arrived, all the guests were present.
When the guests were all present, the sky suddenly changed. A cloud of purple air floated from the east, stretching for a thousand miles, and the purple light covered the morning glow in the sky. A group of yellow cranes flew up from the west, bringing with them a thousand auspicious lights, and their cries were heard throughout the sky.
When yellow and purple meet, a Taoist appears in the air, with light all over his body, making it difficult to see clearly.
"Welcome to the Heavenly Master!"
The disciples of Longhu Mountain all over the mountains sang praises loudly.
"Three Heavens Supports the Teaching, Assists the Mysterious Body. Great Dharma Heavenly Master, the Thunder Capital Province. Tai Xuan Shang Xiang, the Grand Dharma Master of Dutian!"
The guests on the platform also stood up. Even though they were the guests, the one who appeared was the contemporary Zhang Tianshi, the True Man of the Five Realms, who was worthy of them standing up to greet him.
"Please take a seat, guests."
As soon as everyone left their seats, the voice of Zhang Tianshi came from the air. Tianshi walked to the center of the top of the stands with lotus steps, where there was a golden palace.
As soon as the Heavenly Master entered the Golden Palace, some Taoist priests came out of the palace and invited the heads of each family to come up. Naturally, Master Lu of Mount Sanqing was among them.
Afterwards, there were white cranes emerging from the blue sky, golden lotuses emerging from the earth, unicorns stepping on auspicious clouds and many other strange phenomena. In short, the 40th Dragon and Tiger Dharma Assembly was held in an auspicious scene.
The rules of the Dragon and Tiger Dharma Assembly have always been fixed and have not changed for thousands of years. The first rule is that new disciples receive the ordination certificate.
The talisman is naturally produced by heaven and earth, copied by immortals, and then passed down to the human world. Holding it can summon ghosts and gods, pacify the five directions, subdue demons and monsters, cure diseases and eliminate disasters.
The talisman is also called the Dharma talisman or the talisman. It is the cornerstone used by Taoists to practice and protect their Taoism.
In many Taoist sects, headed by Longhu Mountain, the talisman and the talisman are distinguished. It is believed that the talisman is just a magic tool, while the talisman is the basis for commanding the vital energy and the basis for ascending to the heavenly court and ranking among the gods. The one thrown out to defend against the enemy is called a talisman, and the one placed in the acupoints of the flesh is called a talisman.
To give an example, the magic power is the soldier, the talisman is the weapon in the soldier's hand, and the talisman is the seal in the commander's tent. With the talisman, the spirit is invited to possess the body, so that the magic power and spiritual energy can be controlled with ease.
Some people simply regard the talisman as the natal magic weapon of this type of Taoist priests. This makes sense, but it is too simplistic. Because unlike the natal magic weapon, which requires the cultivator to start practicing from the beginning and grows with the promotion of the cultivator's realm, the talisman can be directly granted, and in the same lineage, the talisman can be upgraded and replaced, which is much more flexible than the natal magic weapon. Sometimes, this type of Taoist priests can also use the talisman to perform spells far beyond their own realm, which is something that the natal magic weapon cannot do.
In addition to Longhu Mountain, there are also places that practice Taoism at Gezhao Mountain and Maoshan. There are others as well, but they are all branches of these three, or they directly request Taoism from these three.
Therefore, these three are also called the Three Mountains of Talismans.
The seal of Mount Longhu is called Zhengyi Seal, which is divided into five grades. Today is the day for new disciples to receive the seal, and the one they receive is the most basic "Tai Shang San Wu Du Gong Jing Seal".
As the disciple's cultivation level improves, the grade of this talisman will also improve.
There are five realms before becoming an immortal. The Zhengyi Sutra is divided into five categories from bottom to top: "Taishang Sanwudugong Sutra", "Taishang Zhengyi Mengwei Sutra", "Shangqing Three Caves and Five Thunder Sutra", "Shangqing Three Caves Sutra" and "Shangqing Dadong Sutra".
The most mysterious and what makes outsiders most jealous is that when a disciple of the Three Mountains of Talismans passes away, in accordance with his last wishes, the talisman in his body can be taken back by the mountain gate as long as the master of the talisman is willing.
The taken-back talismans can be passed on to new disciples, or they can be transformed into offensive talismans, which is very powerful.
This means that a first-level talisman disciple of the Three Mountains will, after replacing a talisman with a higher-level one day, directly raise his or her magical powers and control over spiritual energy to several levels.
Another point is that no one knows how many talismans the Three Mountains of Talismans have accumulated, which were created with the life-long magic power of monks in the third, fourth, or even fifth realms.
When Cheng Xinzhan learned about the details of this place, he immediately thought of the corpses at the foot of Meiji Mountain.
Yes, they are all big families with thousands of years of history, who doesn’t have such means?
But is this all that I know?
I won’t go into details.
There were forty-nine new disciples participating in this ordination. Cheng Xinzhan took a look and found that they were all children between ten and fifteen years old, only boys and no girls.
He was somewhat puzzled, so he asked Zhu Heyong who was sitting next to him,
"Brother Daoist, Longhu Mountain only opens its gates to accept disciples once every three generations, and they only accept so few at a time, how can they continue the Dharma lineage?"
Upon hearing this, Zhu He Rong glanced at Cheng Xinzhan and said nothing.
Cheng Xinzhan knew that perhaps this was not the appropriate occasion to discuss these matters, so he did not ask any further questions.
"Heart-to-heart."
Cheng Xinzhan was startled and almost screamed out.
He looked at Zhu Ronghe beside him in surprise. Just now, Zhu Ronghe's voice actually rang in his heart! How could he not be frightened when someone else's voice suddenly rang out in his inner world?
The heart palace Pleiades also opened his eyes, and at this moment, a ball of leaping flame appeared in his heart palace without him noticing.
However, as long as Cheng Xinzhan had a thought, Neijingshen could put out the fire.
However, Cheng Xinzhan did not do so, but was waiting for Zhu Heyou's explanation.
"Xinzhan, this is another wonderful use of my mind's ability, 'Tongxinhuo', which can convey words to other people's hearts. You are speaking in your heart now, and I can hear you as well."
The fire in his heart was leaping, conveying this message.
Cheng Xinzhan found it very interesting. He put his thoughts into his heart and said to the flame with a smile,
"Brother, this is truly an incredible magical power. If you suddenly say this during a fight, everyone would be scared to death."
The flame laughed, "I haven't mastered this skill yet. I think you are not on guard against me. It will take some time for my "Heart Fire" to reach your heart. It will be difficult to use it in a fight. But it would be useful for us to talk privately now."
Cheng Xinzhan was amazed, "Brother Dao, if you practice diligently, you will definitely have extraordinary magical powers in the future."
Zhu Ronghe smiled and said with a burning heart, "What Xinzhan asked just now is actually like this. The founder of Longhu Mountain only accepted people from other families as disciples. This is for show. In fact, the Zhang family members do not need to pass the various tests and can directly receive the ordination. Naturally, there is no need to worry about the continuation of the legal system."
"what?"
Cheng Xinzhan was greatly shocked.
"In fact, this is not a secret among the four masters and two Ge of my Yuzhang Taoist sect. The Longhu Mountain Tianshi Mansion is originally a sect of one family. The external talismans and internal scrolls were originally created to continue the lineage of the clan."
Cheng Xinzhan was amazed.
"Moreover, when Mount Longhu usually receives children of the Zhang family to the mountain, they often change their surnames to conceal their whereabouts. If you observe carefully, you will find that as long as they are not ordained at the Sanjiazi Ceremony, they are all members of the Zhang family. Even if they are not surnamed Zhang, they changed their surnames later."
Cheng Xinzhan had nothing to say.
According to this, Liang Zhenjing's real name should be Zhang Zhenjing.
The two were communicating with each other through their magical powers at this time, and the ordination ceremony had already begun in the square.
The first scene of the ordination ceremony is the transmission of ordination. The boys who have just entered the sect are now wearing light blue robes. At this moment, a Taoist priest from Longhu Mountain comes to these people with a tray containing clothes and hats, and helps them put on their clothes and hats.
Afterwards, another Taoist priest came up to the children one by one with paper and pen and asked them to write down their names in the genealogy.
This process cannot be explained in a few words. It involves procedures such as submitting documents, welcoming gods, hanging up notices, removing memorials, chanting scriptures, etc. Witnessed by guests from all over the world, it seems very complicated and solemn.
Don’t you see, these outsiders who have gone through countless hardships to wait until this day, under the witness of the Longhu Mountain Heavenly Master and guests from all over the world, watched themselves wearing the unique yellow and purple robes of Longhu Mountain, and wrote their own names on the genealogy of the Heavenly Master’s Mansion with their own hands, and they couldn’t help but cry for joy!
The second act of the ordination ceremony is to take the vow to observe the precepts.
The vows and precepts taken by new disciples must be witnessed by three masters, namely the recommending master, the transmitting master and the supervising master.
The recommender is the person who is responsible for the screening and trial when recruiting disciples. Longhu Mountain opened its doors to the public for three generations to recruit disciples. No one knew how many people would come, but in the end only forty-nine were accepted. You can imagine how difficult the trial was. The recommender is the one who is responsible for the entire trial selection.
The ordination master is the host of the ordination ceremony, and is usually a minor celestial master. If a minor celestial master has not been chosen, the contemporary celestial master will usually designate a highly respected person named Zhang in the celestial master's mansion.
The ordination master is equivalent to the teacher of these forty-nine people from other families, and his significance is extraordinary.
Cheng Xinzhan could see clearly that the master who would transmit the ordination this time was the Master Gongchang whom he had met in Baiyujing.
The supervisory master will be the contemporary Heavenly Master, needless to say.
Under the guidance of the Little Heavenly Master, the forty-nine new disciples began to swear to keep the precepts. They recited one sentence after the Little Heavenly Master recited one sentence.
"Avoid your emotions, stop committing sins, cut off the roots of evil, develop the Tao, and enter the realm of sainthood. From the beginning to the end, you must first take the precepts, and then you can reach the truth."
"Avoid your emotions, stop committing sins, cut off the roots of evil, develop the Tao, and enter the realm of sainthood. From the beginning to the end, you must first take the precepts, and then you can reach the truth."
Hearing the little Taoist priest recite the first four words, Cheng Xinzhan almost laughed out loud, but he held it back.
He looked at the forty-nine extremely pious children again and suddenly felt a little sad.
