Chapter 162: First Arrival at Beauxbatons
As soon as he got off the plane, Aidan showed his extraordinary familiarity with Country F. He even spoke French like a local and did not hesitate at all when leading the way.
"Senior Aidan, have you lived here before?" Della, who had followed Aidan through twists and turns, finally couldn't help asking.
"I have lived here before. My father worked for the Department of Mysteries. Mysteries often went into the Muggle world, so I followed him everywhere. I am quite familiar with Europe." Aidan led Della into a dead end. He looked at the wall in front of him with the flag of Country F painted on it and reached out to touch it. "We are here."
"Should I touch it too?" Della stopped asking and put her hand on the painting. The same suction as the Nine and Three Quarters Platform came from her fingertips. Just as Della was about to go in, the wall suddenly cracked and swallowed them in.
The scream of weightlessness was stuck in my throat, but the sudden appearance of the fountain in front of me made all the panic disappear.
In the peripheral vision, the other buildings of Beauxbatons were also magnificent and shining, but no one would pay attention to them when seeing this fountain.
Light butterflies fluttered around the circular fountain, their wings reflecting metallic light. Countless such light spots also flickered on the white marble surface of the fountain. Only when you got closer could you see that the shining places were inlaid with gold and jewels.
The constant sound of water filled people's thoughts. Della rarely thought about anything and just concentrated on admiring the famous Flamel Fountain.
Aidan also came over and washed his face with a handful of water. Della glanced at him, but Aidan shrugged nonchalantly, "Believe me, this is a place for people to play. When I came here before, everyone was playing in the water in their swimsuits."
Della felt that Aidan's behavior and words were unreasonable. Would the students of Beauxbatons play around like this in front of their landmark building that symbolizes glory?
Free-spirited and romantic by nature, a F countryman?
Della suddenly remembered what Aidan said. She was no longer in the mood to look at the magnificent fountain in front of her. For the first time, she began to face up to the regional differences.
Or is she just too serious?
This made perfect sense. Della's thoughts had unconsciously gone in a long circle, and before she could get back on track, someone called her name.
"Miss Riddle!"
Riddle in French sounds like Hdel, but Della reacted quickly. She looked in the direction of the voice and saw three people, two women and one man. The first woman with a tall head was the most conspicuous. Della had done her homework and knew that this was Olympe Maxime, the headmaster of Beauxbatons.
So Della immediately adjusted her expression and went to greet him. She looked at Madame Maxime, who was wearing a slim-fitting long black satin dress, raised her head to face the olive-colored face with big, bright eyes, and smiled obediently, "It's an honor to meet you, Madame Maxime."
"I should be happy to have such an excellent student like you. Professor Weiss has been talking about you for a long time," Maxim pointed to a middle-aged man with short black hair and a serious face next to her, "He said that he hasn't seen such efficient alchemical works for a long time.
When Della was in the UK, she received a letter and production materials from the Alchemy Group regarding their entry into the group. She worked overtime for a week and discarded six plans before handing in the finished product. The professor who worked with her was Alonso Weiss.
"Oh! Mr. Weiss!" Della looked at him flattered and bowed slightly. "Thank you very much for your detailed description of the works under review in your letter. It really helped me a lot."
"Your work has given me great inspiration. I haven't seen a talented little alchemist like you for a long time." Contrary to his serious expression, Alonso spoke in a very approachable manner.
"And I'm the Muggle Studies teacher of this school, Olga Jimenez." The tall woman holding a black lace umbrella on the other side of Madame Maxime spoke. She was a very beautiful person, with brown curly hair tied up in a retro style, leaving only two strands to modify her face shape. The old-fashioned lace dress on her body showed off her exquisite body curves to the fullest.
It is worth noting that Olga Jimenez's skin is so white that it is almost transparent, which looks even more unhealthy than sickly pale.
Combined with her behavior of holding the lace umbrella, Della instantly determined that she was a vampire.
"Looking forward to your class, Professor Jimenez." Della bowed to her as usual.
"You will be very popular with the students here," Olga looked Della up and down, with her black and gold lace fan pressed against her red lips, "We like elegant children."
There was nothing wrong with what Olga said, but her meaningful tone obviously mixed some romantic meaning into this sentence, so Maxim interrupted her disapprovingly, "Olga——"
"Got it, Principal." Olga raised her red lips slightly, lowered her hand holding the fan, and turned her narrow black eyes to Aidan who had been watching them quietly a few steps away. She leaned forward slightly and said, "Hey, little wizard from the United States, long time no see. Are you here to catch the transnational tooth fairy this time as well?"
"I'm here to send her off. My father is her temporary guardian now, and I'll be officially employed by the Ministry of Magic after I graduate this year." Aidan didn't remember the woman who greeted him at all, but he had just heard a few words and knew that the three people in front of him were either the principal or professors, so he took a step forward and greeted them one by one, "Hello, principal, hello, professors."
A little polite, but not much.
Della still doesn't quite understand Aidan's way of thinking. She only knows that his family doesn't care about things that they think are irrelevant, including rumors and rules.
But that's pretty good too.
"Hello," Maxim greeted him with a smile, then turned his attention to Della. "I have already completed the procedures for you to stay on campus for research and study. It is still summer vacation, so not many places are open in the school. Next, let Alonso take you to the research building for a look."
"I'm very much looking forward to it." Della looked at Professor Weiss and the smile on her face became genuine. She was indeed curious about other alchemy techniques.
"I'll be leaving in a minute." When someone's eyes fell on him, Aidan suddenly became observant. He raised his hand casually, then slowly put it down. "I have to catch a flight to Country M tonight. I'm going to receive investigator training there."
"Going to Country M? You're joining the international joint investigation team?" Alonso, who had been quiet, became interested at this moment. He added, "The person in charge of Country M came here for selection. One of my students joined the investigation team through the technical route. The treatment in this investigation team is very good."
"Hey, I remember that the person in charge was from Country M. Didn't they say that only one person would be sent from each department?" Alonso narrowed his eyes. He remembered that Olga had just called Aidan a wizard from Country M. He scratched his head, not being able to figure it out for a moment.
"I used the recommendation from the Ministry of Magic of Country Y. My mother is a wizard from Country Y." Aidan explained.
"Is that so?" Alonso raised his eyebrows. He didn't say anything else and just smiled.
Della stood by, watching Aidan's situation without making any expression or interrupting him. Everyone knew that Aidan had some connections to do this, but no one pointed it out.
