Chapter 186: Alarming the Snake

Shelby came in tied up.

I was surprised to see Luke and Alex.

After Luke let Nelson let go of Shelby, he gave her a smile.

"I'm sorry for having to ask you to come here to see me in this way."

Shelby was incredulous.

"Alex, are you and Luke hanging out again?"

Alex was also surprised.

Sister, is this your focus?

Luke explained to Shelby.

"I have now been commissioned by the Attorney General to conduct a secret investigation into the bombing of Grand Central Terminal in New York City."

After that, he also showed the letter of commission issued to him by Dougherty and President Marshall.

Only then did Shelby come to his senses.

"Do you really have to do it this way?"

Luke didn't want to waste time talking to her.

Just pick up the scrap of lead and show it to Shelby.

"This was found in Alex's apartment. There was not only C4 but also this."

Shelby looked at the fuse in Luke's hand, confused.

Luke continued to explain to her:

"The C4 was produced by my company, and the coating on the surface of this fuze was produced by your company."

"Also, I found Alex's fingerprints on the C4 bomb, but they were not from the current time. They were from when she first entered school."

Shelby still couldn't believe it.

"This...how is this possible?"

Luke smiled evilly.

"How is that impossible? Your boyfriend's family are all politicians."

"What does this have to do with the Haas family?"

"His mother is a member of the Republican convention that is currently underway, and they are internally selecting the next vice president."

Shelby thought for a moment and fell silent.

She is also a capitalist and the financial backer behind some politicians, so she naturally knows some things about these politicians.

So, there was a good chance that what Luke told her was true.

Luke continued:

"It doesn't matter what conspiracy Haas's mother has now. What matters is to help Alex get rid of the crime first."

"According to the FBI's internal information, after the explosion, someone reported that the murderer was an FBI student from our class."

"Based on Alex's fingerprints appearing on C4 when he first entered school, I concluded that the mastermind had planned this long ago and used all of our classmates."

Shelby and Alex both looked at Luke, waiting for him to continue his analysis.

Luke went on to analyze the case.

"This person cannot be our classmate, because these things are not something a student can do."

Alex immediately thought of what Luke was going to say.

"So, it's Principal Miranda and Instructor Liam O'Connor."

Luke nodded.

"If the murderer was one of these two people, he would have been keeping an eye on the other."

“But this cannot be used as evidence.”

Alex didn't want to believe it was Principal Miranda, so he asked Luke.

"It can't be Principal Miranda. I think it's Instructor O'Connor."

Luke wagged his finger.

"Even though Principal Miranda let you go privately, we can't be so arbitrary in our investigation. It's possible that she let you go on purpose to delay time."

What Luke said really made sense, and both Alex and Shelby were thinking about it.

After all, they are also members of the FBI and future FBI agents who have received formal training.

Shelby thought for a moment and asked Luke.

"Then why did you tie me up too?"

Luke said to her, holding the fuse.

"You and I are both involved. This kind of thing is easy to find out."

"Go check the supplier of this paint."

Then he took out his phone and called Mr. Qin.

"Grandpa, I'm sorry to bother you so late." (Grandpa Qin was in China preparing to attend the National Day military parade, so there was a time difference.)

"What happened?"

Luke simply told his grandfather about C4 and there was no need to worry the old man about other things.

Mr. Qin thought for a while and told Luke to wait for a call.

Not long after, Luke's phone rang.

There was still an older but powerful voice on the other end of the phone.

"Qin boy?"

"Uh…Grandpa Samuel?"

"Haha, kid, you know to ask for help when you encounter problems. You haven't called me since you went to college."

Luke scratched his head in embarrassment.

"I saw that you went to the Pentagon and must be very busy, so I didn't disturb you."

"Just treat me like an old man and come fishing with me next time when you are free."

"Okay, Grandpa Samuel."

"Let's get down to business. I'll have someone contact you later to help you investigate the C4 matter. It seems that some people have stretched their hands too far and dared to act wildly in my territory."

"Thank you so much, Grandpa Samuel."

"Don't be so polite. I still remember when you were a kid and went fishing with me and your grandfather. Remember to look for me when you have time."

After hanging up the phone, Luke breathed a sigh of relief. He had actually forgotten about this old man.

This old guy is really a tough guy, fighting from the Vietnam War to the present.

He was already a colonel, but he was still fighting the Soviets in Afghanistan.

He remained in the United States only after he was promoted to general.

He is an absolute hawk in the US military, but also a very rational and wise old man.

After a while, Luke's phone rang.

"Luke?"

Luke was surprised to hear the voice on the line.

"Lieutenant Colonel Hannibal?" (For details, please see Chapters 25 and 26)

Luke thought he was a major the last time he went to recruit Nelson and Tobery.

He later learned of his promotion after arriving at the 75th Ranger Regiment.

"General Trautman asked me to help you investigate the C4 matter."

"Thank you. I'll have someone give you the number."

Then he asked Lilith to give the number on the C4 bomb to Lieutenant Colonel Hannibal.

Lieutenant Colonel Hannibal left a message, "Wait for my news," and then hung up the phone.

This is why Luke likes dealing with soldiers. They get things done, never talk nonsense, and are reliable.

Looking at the busy Luke and Shelby, Alex felt a little bored.

Now she had calmed down, and everything Luke did was for her.

So she asked Luke:

"What can I do?"

Luke smiled and said to her:

"No hurry, wait for my men to come back and have them do a live broadcast for you to clarify the facts first."

Alex didn't understand what Luke was doing, so he continued to ask him.

"This is not..."

"No, that's what we have to do. In Chinese wisdom, this is called disturbing the grass and scaring the snakes."

Alex thought about it and understood what Luke meant.

"You mean this will advance the arrangements of the mastermind?"

Luke nodded.

"We cannot follow the enemy's pace. We must disrupt his plans and make him reveal his true colors."

"Lilith, check the recent schedule of Congresswoman Claire (Haas's mother, Republican congresswoman, and vice presidential candidate)."

"Okay, boss."

At this time, the door of the room opened and Cook and Mulder walked in together.
