Chapter 228 Decision x Talk x Future
Just two weeks after returning from Country D, Della was already going into retreat again. After talking to Maggie about the feasible principles that day, manifestation, adulthood and curses, everything was put on the agenda.
"Do you and Trevor have anything else to talk about?" Della, who had just finished talking about her schedule with Maggie, noticed that the silver letter in front of Maggie had lit up several times. She rubbed her brows, which were tired from discussing manifestation with Professor Cockrell for several days. "You go ahead. I'm going to rest first."
After that, Della yawned a little. When Maggie nodded to indicate that it was okay, she looked up at the small clock on the wall that pointed to 9:10. She sighed in her heart that she hadn't rested before o'clock for a long time. She also reminded Maggie, "Don't stay up too late. You should rest early too, Maggie."
"Haishi-ha-hi (You should read fewer pages before going to bed)," Maggie shook her head, as if laughing, "Hissa-his (I have put the book you placed on the bedside table on the bookshelf, and asked Apep to put away the eye mask and earmuffs)."
Della smiled. Maybe it was because she was sleepy, but her dark eyes looked at Maggie with a softness that she had never seen before. "Then I'll go first."
She said this, nodded, turned and walked towards the small bedroom built into the closed room. The moment she pushed open the bedroom door and saw the small bookshelf inside, Della remembered the bloody future she saw happening in front of the bookshelf.
Snapped-
Della closed the door and sighed softly. The soft light in her eyes faded away, leaving only fatigue. She took a few steps and lay on her back on the bed. Her chest was briefly suffocated by the impact of lying down, which made the future that she didn't want to see for Maggie more real.
"Sis-Assa (Rest early, Della)," Apep dragged the blindfold and swam to Della's cheek, "Hai-Sa (Maggie told me to come and remind you)."
"Yeah." Della took the eye mask, stroked the obedient little black snake twice, waved her wand lazily, used magic to change into pajamas, then put on the eye mask and earmuffs, and lay down again.
No matter it was a warning or a tease, fate did not give her any cause or effect. In Della's opinion, a future without cause but only vague results had no reference value.
To give the most recent example, when she knew that she was related to Voldemort, could she not have guessed that she would have a future where she would be feared and away from her friends?
Of course, she could guess it, and Della did not deny that this was a future that would make her unhappy and even a little scared, but if she could foresee it, did she have to try her best to change it? Did she have to try her best to please and maintain it, to make herself a person that everyone loved and that her friends could not let go of?
To be honest, if Della tries hard, she can do as described above, that is, be a little harder on herself and others, suffer more injuries, and let others suffer more injuries, and put herself in the highest moral position that cannot be criticized. Della can do it, she can avoid the future like this.
But what was Della Riddle ultimately living for?
Rather than accepting an unpleasant future, she couldn't accept herself like that.
So, the future alone is not enough to influence her decision.
Della Riddle had decided long ago to bring Maggie back into the world in a similar state to herself, and was certain that her friends, brothers, and father would not harm her.
And her friend, brother and father were currently talking to his most effective subordinate.
"Hai-shisa (I know what you're thinking, Trevor. I don't deny the path of securing one's position through marriage)." Just as Della could guess Maggie's control over Sadolin, Maggie could easily see what Trevor was thinking about Sadolin. "Hai-shisa (But now is not a good time. I don't want Della to worry about this anymore)."
In Maggie's conception, Sadolin would be his closest pet. The combination of a loyal subordinate and a close pet is a good match, and perhaps something that all parties would like to see. However, he knew that Della would not approve of Sadolin ignorantly stepping into any future path. In order to reduce the differences between the two, he took the lead in knocking on Trevor Ewing, who was relying on snake language to rapidly build a close relationship with Sadolin.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset Miss Riddle," Trevor immediately half-knelt in front of Maggie, who was about a meter tall and full of imposing manner, sitting on the office chair, his face full of panic, "I really deserve to die."
"Hai-sa-sa (Just be patient, I have no objection. If Sadolin doesn't object, Della won't object either)." Maggie knew Trevor's patient and cautious personality, so she didn't intend to talk about this topic in depth. She quickly talked to Trevor about the next arrangements, "Sis-yasa (We will be in seclusion for about a month, which means you still have a month of buffer time)."
"I have made some progress in Occlumency," Trevor had been receiving individual instruction from a professor at Durmstrang these days, and his progress in Occlumency was quite fast, "but Professor Cockrell thought it was not enough to deceive Voldemort."
"Haishi-Sa (Just take her with you to learn. We can always find a way to get you here)," Maggie said in a light tone. In this world, apart from Della, there is no one else whose abilities he can fully trust. "Sa-Yaxi (You can relax for a while. You and Rekel Jonas can take care of Sadolin)."
Trevor nodded and was about to agree, when Maggie's low hissing voice followed, "Haishi-Assa (There is only one thing to note, Karkaroff has previously reported the news of the Triwizard Tournament to Della. If this Triwizard Tournament is to be held, then Della will definitely participate, but we don't plan to be too special)."
"What?" Trevor didn't understand.
"Hashi-Hasa-hi (This is the news from the Nott family. It is said that there will be an age limit for the contestants. Although the specifics are not clear, common sense says that 14 years old is far below the age limit for young wizards)," Maggie synchronized the news from Country Y to Trevor, "Hashi-Sa (And if I remember correctly, Annika Rochier should be one year younger than Della)."
"If there is any news in the next month, I will inform the Rochiel family that they have been honored to participate in the Triwizard Tournament." Trevor said this, but he fully understood Maggie's hint that he should pass the news to the Rochiel family now.
"Good," Maggie nodded. His yellow snake eyes glanced at the dark window in Trevor's room, which let the scene inside the room reflect into the window. He remembered the girl's advice to him to go to bed early. It happened that he had almost finished explaining the matter, so he changed back to his normal size. "Hai-sa (Send me back, Trevor)."
"My pleasure," said Trevor, respectfully picking up Maggie and solemnly sending the extraordinary little green snake back to Della's sealed room.
After closing the door of the sealed room from the inside, Maggie slid into Della's bedroom. The girl wearing an eye mask and earmuffs was already fast asleep, her sleeping face as serene and peaceful as ever.
Such a small child has grown up so big.
Maggie's gentle snake tail gently caressed Della's cheek, and her yellow eyes flashed dimly in the dark night.
They already have such great energy and so many admirable qualities.
And Maggie, who admired Della so much, had only one regret.
If only you could be a little more cruel, Della.
As he thought about this, a rare yet twisted feeling arose in his heart, which seemed to be a sense of responsibility.
It doesn't matter, he will help Della get rid of those people and things that make her weak.
After all, next time, there will be more than one Riddle coming out of this closed room.
