Chapter 256: Stacking stones to pray to Buddha, Snow Mountain Lion Carrying
Chapter 256: Stacking stones to pray to Buddha, and lions carrying snowy mountains (5.6K words, please vote, happy holidays everyone!)
When the two of them got closer to the White Jade Jungle, they could appreciate even more how vast the jungle was and how small humans were.
Just at the edge of this white jade forest, in the Jinsha River, there was a huge ship anchored. The flag on the mast of the ship was hoisted high, fluttering in the wind, with the pattern of the Golden Summit of Mount Emei embroidered on it, which was particularly conspicuous in the sun.
This is the temporary base for Xichuan Jiange to attack the White Jade Jungle.
Because it is a protracted war, the Xuan Xiu of Jiange have to take turns to fight. The Xuan Xiu who are replaced need a safe place to heal their wounds, recover their energy, sharpen their swords, and rest. If they have to go back to Jiange every time, time will be wasted.
Occasionally, there was a flash of light rising and falling around this giant ship, traveling back and forth between the giant mountain jungle and this place.
"How many people are there here? How many demon monks are there in the mountain?"
Cheng Xinzhan asked.
Wu Mei replied,
"There are not many people now. There are about 50 people stationed on the ship, and there are also about 50 people searching the mountain. At the beginning, there were at most 400 to 500 people attacking the mountain at the same time.
“As for the demons, there were more than a thousand of them at the beginning, and now there are more than two hundred. However, these two hundred people hid very deep in the stone mountains and would not come out.
"That's the problem now. They are hiding inside and won't come out. We have no choice but to search the mountains one by one, so it takes a long time. Once we meet them, we have to be careful even if we have to fight them hand to hand."
Cheng Xinzhan nodded, perhaps understanding.
"Yunlai, aren't you curious why we don't bomb the mountain to drive the evil monk out?"
Wu Mei took the initiative to ask questions.
Cheng Xinzhan smiled and pointed at the Jinsha River and said,
"How dare you blow up the mountain? If any of these mountains collapse, the Jinsha River will have to stop flowing or change its course. I think even the Emei Sect and Biyun Temple will have a lot of trouble dealing with it."
Wu Mei smiled and nodded, thinking that Yunlai is Yunlai. In the past, many newcomers from Shu would ask such a stupid question.
She then introduced this white jade forest to Cheng Xinzhan.
"Although these stones were ordinary rocks at first, and these monks were even more inexperienced, and there was no extraordinary immortal formation to protect the mountain. But Yunlai, if you look carefully, every brick on this mountain is densely engraved with scriptures and spells, which were carved by countless demon monks over thousands of years.
"After thousands of years of blessing, these scriptures and spells have infected the rocks, making them extremely solid. Each stone mountain is also seamlessly integrated. This is why every mountain has survived thousands of years of wind and rain without being knocked down.
“However, these mountains can withstand the celestial phenomena and the second realm, but they cannot withstand the magic power of the third realm, so if Yun Lai feels itchy later, he must hold back.
“This is especially true for the demon monks. They regard these stone mountains as holy mountains, saying that as long as they are piled high enough, they will be able to reach the Buddha’s kingdom. So they dare not attack these mountains with all their strength, nor do they want to leave these mountains.
"To be honest, this made it much easier for us to exorcise the demons. If they had escaped at the beginning, it would have been difficult for us to stop them. But they were reluctant to give up this white jade forest. After a brief hesitation, they were surrounded by us."
Cheng Xinzhan nodded and asked again,
"Are there many third-level demon monks here?"
Wu Mei shook her head.
“Not many, because there weren’t many to begin with, and now there should be only three or four, otherwise they wouldn’t have allowed so many second-level disciples to come and try their hand.
“According to the information we got earlier, there are only two demons above the third level. One is the fifth level master, called Master Hanshan, and the other is the fourth level lecturer, called Master Jingshi.
"The host here showed up at the beginning of the attack on the mountain, but was killed by Renying using the "Immortal Chariot". However, the one who washed the fourth one has not been found yet, so he must still be hiding inside."
"'Xian Cha'? What is that?"
Cheng Xinzhan heard a word he had never heard before.
Wu Mei explained,
"Immortal weapons, the same flying sword as Ziqing."
Cheng Xinzhan nodded and took note of it secretly.
"You wait here for me. No need to come. I'll go down and ask if your two boys are there."
As Wu Mei spoke, she fell from the air into the giant ship.
After just a moment, she flew out again.
"They're not inside. They just finished their shift yesterday and went back in early this morning. Should we go in and take a look too?"
Cheng Xinzhan naturally agreed.
Wu Mei then said,
"Since Yunlai has come, he can't come for nothing. There is another Four Washing Demon inside. I wonder..."
Cheng Xinzhan smiled and nodded.
"I will not stand idly by when I encounter this."
This is what Wu Mei wanted to hear. She smiled and led Cheng Xinzhan to fly into the white jade forest, saying,
"In fact, the secret technique of our Xichuan Sword Pavilion is also very good. It is Wanli Feihong's specialty, the "Skylight Transformation Technique". I wonder if Yunlai is interested."
"If there is such an opportunity, I will be happy to do it."
The two of them went into the white jade jungle. Cheng Xinzhan felt like he had walked into a land of giants. From a distance, he couldn't see much and it seemed like there were only mountains. But when he really walked in, he could clearly see the traces of huge rocks. Every scripture engraving on those rocks was larger than a person, giving people an extremely shocking feeling.
Moreover, the stone piles are not all tightly matched, but are staggered with many holes. The holes are invisible from a distance, but appear to be several feet high when viewed up close.
“It’s all hollow in here.”
Wu Mei said,
"Yunlai can think of these stones as walls. Each mountain is a house, and those holes are windows and doors. There is a whole new world inside."
Cheng Xinzhan praised,
“It’s a miracle!”
"Yes."
Wu Mei responded,
"These monks don't have great magical powers, but few can match their hard work. So we hold back when we fight. Besides worrying about affecting the Jinsha River, we don't want to destroy this piece of stone mountain. After we recover this place, we can live here directly and establish a sect. It will be a great wonder of Xikang in the future."
Cheng Xinzhan nodded.
Now the periphery of this Shilei Mountain has been cleared, and it is quiet, without a single person. Moreover, these mountains are all covered with huge talismans, which are interwoven into arrays, emitting shimmering waves that cover the mountains.
"What is this doing?"
Cheng Xinzhan pointed at the talisman arrays and asked.
Wu Mei explained,
"As I said just now, this place will definitely not be idle in the future. However, if we from the Xuanmen sect want to move in, then the Buddhist scriptures all over the mountain will be an eyesore. This is specially used to polish the Buddhist scriptures on the stone. At the same time, we are also using the Xuanmen magic to reinforce these stone mountains. In addition, it is also a reminder and a mark. Such mountains have been searched clean."
"How many stone mountains are there here?"
Cheng Xinzhan asked.
"Ninety-one, but over the past period of time, we have cleared out the seventy-two outer ones, and the nineteen inner ones are still under investigation.
"The ability of these ant monks to build mountains is constantly improving. The further out they go, the higher the rocks are. So we are searching from the outside in, faster and faster."
The two continued to move in, like two mosquitoes flying in the most magnificent Buddhist temple. Soon, Cheng Xinzhan heard the sound of fighting and the light of Dharma.
He saw the remaining 19 stone mountains that Wu Mei had mentioned. There were no markings or water light formations on them. Instead, the Buddhist scriptures engraved on the stones were very dazzling.
Now, sounds of fighting were heard from two of the stone mountains, and colorful Dharma lights shone out from the caves.
"Now that there are fewer people, they should be divided into two teams. One team will explore one mountain, and the other team will still be led by Uncle Li Bai."
Wu Mei explained,
"I just don't know which one your two boys are in."
Cheng Xinzhan looked at it, then pointed to the one on the left and said,
"here."
"Oh, why?"
He smiled and said,
“You’ll know it just by looking at it.”
So the two of them flew towards the mountain and landed in a cave.
Cheng Xinzhan looked inside and discovered that there were many scriptures engraved inside these stone mountains. These scriptures emitted a soft white light, illuminating the interior of the stone mountains.
The stone mountain was hollow inside and had many stone pillars, as if there was a bamboo forest growing inside the mountain. Between the stone pillars, he saw a group of Taoists chasing and beating a group of monks.
Among them, he saw that the one chasing the most fiercely was the third sister. She was flying in the front riding a smoke dragon made of red fire and golden stars, holding a palm-leaf fan in her hand, and every fan of her fan produced a puff of golden smoke.
Just now he saw the smoke outside and was sure that the two boys were here. The fireworks ability of Suanni is rare.
Bai Long was much more steady. He held an iron rod in his hand and stood guard beside the third sister, looking around vigilantly to prevent someone from suddenly appearing from behind a stone pillar to attack.
He took another look at the demon monks who were being chased and fled in all directions. They were all below the second realm, and only one had formed a pill, but he had not yet smelled of thunder tribulation, had not washed his pill, and was not a threat. He also saw Hu Qing, who did not participate in the pursuit and encirclement, but stood on the top of a stone pillar, watching over the younger ones, and Hu Qing also noticed him.
The two looked at each other and smiled.
Cheng Xinzhan watched quietly for a while, seeing Zhaoli and Bailong working together to surround and kill the Jindan, fighting in a very methodical manner, and thought that it was time to keep an eye out for the two children against Gangsha.
"Let's go, leave this to them."
Cheng Xinzhan said to Wu Mei.
So the two of them flew away from here.
"Yunlai, then let's split up and explore those stone mountains that haven't been searched yet, to blaze a trail for the younger generations?"
Wu Mei said that this was also the purpose of Jiange sending her here this time.
Cheng Xinzhan naturally agreed.
So the two men went their separate ways, and each of them picked a stone mountain and went in.
After Cheng Xinzhan entered the stone mountain, he first flew to the highest point, then slowly descended, while practicing pupil techniques. With his bright blue eyes, he was able to see people through the stones, and the devil had nowhere to hide.
Then he went all the way to the bottom of the mountain and saw dozens of demons hiding in the cracks of the rocks, all of them were in the first or second realm. He didn't care about them and just walked away after looking at them.
If there were someone who was a few levels higher than him, such as the Sixth Cleansing level or above, he might be able to escape his eyes if he held his breath and hid himself. However, the news from Emei said that there were no demons of high levels here, so there was no need to be extra careful.
Afterwards, he looked at three stone mountains in a row, and only one of them had a wash inside. Cheng Xinzhan just left it alone. The magic cultivators had a shallow foundation and their golden elixirs were mixed. A Xuanmen golden elixir leader to guard the team, plus a group of second-level cultivators, was enough to deal with it.
It was not until he entered the fifth mountain that Ziqueli Fushi suddenly called out. But it was just a call, and there was no further response.
Could it be that the Fourth Wash is here?
Cheng Xinzhan became alert.
As soon as he thought about it, "Youdu" flew out from his right eye, which was glowing with green light, and turned into sword light that circled around him.
He continued searching from the top of the mountain all the way down, but what surprised him was that, let alone the aura of the golden elixir, he didn't even see the figure of a person in the first or second realm.
It seems to be an empty mountain.
But a hidden arrow would not give a warning for no reason.
He landed at the bottom of the mountain, where the floor was also paved with huge stones. However, he discovered something special. Although the bottom of other stone mountains were also paved with bricks and stones, there were no scriptures on the bricks and stones at the bottom. There were only scriptures on the inner and outer walls and stone pillars of the mountain. But in this mountain, the bottom was also engraved with scriptures.
He felt a little strange. He saw that the scriptures here were also written in rattan script, so he wanted to make a closer look. However, the characters were too large. He stood on the bricks and stones and found that he could lie down in the grooves of the characters. He could not see the whole picture, so he had to fly again.
It was only after it was about thirty or forty feet above the ground that it could be seen clearly.
As he read, his face changed.
This is not a scripture, but a record that describes why Baiyu Jungle was located here!
The monks who practice "Carrying Stones" believe that carving scriptures on stones is the best way to preserve the scriptures for a long time. If they pile up these stones with scriptures engraved on them and make the pile high enough, they will reach the Buddha's kingdom.
However, in order to reach the Buddha's kingdom, one more thing is needed.
A messenger of God.
In ancient Western Buddhism, it was believed that there were three divine messengers who could guide monks to the Buddha's kingdom: a green-maned snow lion, a six-tusked white elephant, and a five-colored peacock.
Only by piling stones at the places where these three gods are willing to stop can we reach the Buddha's kingdom.
So thousands of years ago, these monks were digging mountains and carving stones while preparing, and at the same time looking for messengers of God everywhere.
Among these three kinds of gods' messengers, the five-colored peacock is the least likely to appear. There are blue peacocks and white peacocks in the world, but no one has ever seen a five-colored peacock. It is an ancient god. It is said that it appeared during the first killing calamity of gods, and no one has seen it since then.
As for the green-maned snow lion and the six-tusked white elephant, although they are also legendary spiritual beasts, the practice of using the unreal to seek the true is not only practiced by Taoism, but also by ancient Western Buddhism.
The white elephant with many tusks in its mouth and the white lion with mixed green hair should not be as difficult to find as the five-colored peacock.
The monks thought so at first, but all kinds of gods and forms in the world have their own laws of existence. They found white elephants with four tusks, white elephants with eight tusks, and green elephants with six tusks, but they did not find white elephants with six tusks. The same was true for lions. They found white lions with golden manes, white lions with black manes, and pure green lions, but they did not find snow lions with green manes.
Finally, they could not wait any longer and had prepared many scripture stones, so they thought of using a lion-like elephant-like creature as a substitute. For example, they could knock out two teeth of an eight-tusked white elephant and then drive it away to see where it would like to rest.
We were ready to do that at the time.
However, at this time, another group of people who were digging rocks were excavating a snow mountain by the Jinsha River and discovered that a mountain monster had been born on the mountain.
The so-called mountain lord is a monster that has attained enlightenment from mountains and rocks.
Fairies, goblins, ghosts and monsters, people clearly distinguish these four kinds of monsters.
[Demon] refers to all birds and beasts with locusts, scales, fur, feathers, and insects that have attained the Tao. The calico cat Cheng Zhaoli is a demon.
[Essence] refers to the attainment of the Tao of grass, trees, flowers, vines and other wood elements. White ginseng is the essence.
[Ghost] refers to dead things such as souls, bones, and corpses that have attained enlightenment. The walking corpse Long Boyan is a ghost.
[Strange] It is the inanimate objects such as gold, stone, fire, and water that have attained the Tao.
Among the four categories of demons, spirits, ghosts and monsters, the most difficult to understand is the monster. The most common monster is the metal and stone artifacts that have been refined by humans, adjusting the yin and yang, and giving birth to the artifact spirit, which can also be called a monster.
However, it is difficult for monsters to have sound intelligence. For example, "Taodu" is only one step away from becoming an immortal weapon, but the spirituality of its weapon spirit is only at the level of a child, which is very rare.
Monsters in nature are even rarer. Because such monsters are too difficult to be born and are scarce creatures in the world, in ancient times, monsters born naturally would be directly deified.
Monsters associated with metal and stone were named mountain gods, monsters associated with water were named water gods, and monsters associated with fire were named fire gods.
Later on, people no longer deified gods, so these monsters had other names, such as the Mountain Lord, the Water Lord, and the Fire Lord.
Moreover, after the world no longer enshrined gods, the appearance of such monsters became even rarer. If people discovered one, they would definitely offer it good worship.
Because the lifespan of monsters is extremely long, especially mountain kings, which have the nature of gold and stone. Even if they have not practiced cultivation, they still have the lifespan of immortals. Therefore, as long as you guide them to do good and educate them, they will be like a stabilizing force even in the big sects of the world.
Cheng Xinzhan knew that there was a mountain king in his family - Kuishanjun.
I don't know whether he is in seclusion or taking a nap. Anyway, a decade has passed and he hasn't moved at all. All the people in the sect are his juniors.
Compared with such a longevity, even dragons are inferior.
Thousands of years ago, a group of monks discovered a mountain monster while digging rocks.
Perhaps all tigers like to take naps, and this tiger was also taking a nap at the time. Suddenly, the ground veins were cut off, and it woke up. Naturally, it was furious and flew out of the mountain.
A green-maned snow lion.
Yes, the Lord of Kuishan is the divine form of a single-clawed, single-horned, purple-scaled Kuimang, and the Lord of Xikang Snow Mountain happens to be the divine form of a green-maned, white-haired, golden-eyed snow lion that the demon monks have been seeking for a long time!
However, this Lion King does not have the same luck as Kui King.
Kuishan Jun was born in Mount Sanqing, where he was nourished by spiritual energy. He attained enlightenment on a solitary peak shaped like a giant python. As soon as he was awakened, he was carefully taught and cultivated by the great Taoists of Mount Sanqing. His realm improved rapidly. He also served as the master of Mount Shuji and the deputy leader for a period of time. He had a high realm and was very powerful.
This Lion Mountain Lord was a solitary snow mountain on a spiritual eye of the earth vein on the Xikang Plateau. After awakening his spirit, he practiced in ignorance all the way. It was unknown how many years it took him to cultivate a golden elixir. He was also visited by a group of evil monks, and the earth veins were dug up unexpectedly, which damaged the mountain.
The Lion Mountain King had bad luck, but the evil monks believed they had been blessed by heaven. When they suddenly saw the Snow Lion, they were overjoyed and thought it was the Buddha who had shown mercy and guidance and had sent a messenger.
However, the demon monks wanted to pay homage to him, but they actually cut off his foundation and hurt his vitality. Shishan Jun was furious, and he didn't care whether you were paying homage to him or not, he just killed them all.
And these evil monks who had practiced "Carrying Stones" and turned their heads into stones were obviously not good men and women. Seeing that the snow lion refused to give up, they became stubborn and thought that they had found a holy place suitable for piling stones, and they decided to go all out and flatten the entire snow mountain!
Although the Snow Lion was a mountain king that had attained enlightenment and had thick skin and flesh, it was ultimately only at the level of a Golden Core cultivator and was unable to inherit the entire inheritance. It was only capable of brute force, and even the place where it was born had its meridians severed and the mountain flattened. With its vitality severely damaged, it was naturally suppressed by the group of evil monks in the end.
So at this moment, the place where Cheng Xinzhan is located is the place where the snow mountain where the Lion Mountain King was born was flattened, and under this stone mountain, the Lion Mountain King is suppressed!
This stone mountain is called "Lion-carrying Temple" by the demon monks, which means that the mountain will be carried by a snow lion to the Buddhist kingdom. It is the core of the entire White Jade Jungle and is also a forbidden area that is strictly prohibited from being visited. For thousands of years, only the abbots of the White Jade Jungle have practiced here and guarded the snow lions.
The abbot of the White Jade Jungle of this generation was called Master Hanshan. As soon as he appeared, he was killed by Yan Renying, who was holding a magic weapon.
What really made Cheng Xinzhan change color was that this record also said that in order to suppress the snow lion, thousands of years ago the evil monks specially created a confinement spell, and taught it to their disciples in the form of scriptures, asking them to carve it on the stone wall of Shilei Mountain, so as to suppress the mountain king snow lion with the stone temples in the mountains.
Over the course of thousands of years, stone mountains were piled up one after another, getting higher and higher, and more and more confinement spells were engraved on them. Therefore, over the years, the suppressed Lion Mountain King has never made any noise.
But Cheng Xinzhan remembered that when he approached the White Jade Forest just now, he saw Xichuan Jiange posting talismans to erase the scriptures on the mountain! Moreover, there are more than ninety mountains in total, and Xichuan Jiange has already melted more than seventy of them!
At this time, he finally understood why the Fu Shi was making a sound.
"Roar--"
Just when he realized it, a roar came from the ground, and the earth shook suddenly.
