Chapter 266 Maggie's Actions

Della, stimulated by Cynthia White's presence, fell ill, just as she had been at Hogwarts, and the energy she had exploited physically during the year took its toll on her.

After being cursed by Xavier, she only rested in the hospital for a few days, and then came out to devote herself to intensive language learning. The scientific research pressure in Beauxbatons was also not small. It was because there were people around her watching her daily routine at that time that she did not show any discomfort.

But when she arrived at Durmstrang, it was a disaster. Not only did Della have to prepare for 12 difficult exams, but she also had to study black magic and conduct experiments on Sadolin. Her mind was always busy.

Especially during the one and a half months of manifestation and helping Maggie become an adult, Della had to stare at a lot of changes every day. She only slept for a while when she was extremely sleepy. Her life and schedule were completely turned upside down.

Even when she went to Leah's place for vacation, she didn't get much sleep. She had to practice shooting, study, and later she opened a small alchemy room in Leah's basement. What Della did in one year might take others three years to finish.

Her accomplishments and growth over the year are undoubtedly admirable, but her body will not be too lenient with her because of her achievements.

Della's illness was very serious this time. She was dizzy for a long time. Her rare clear mind would be driven away after reading the newspaper for a while. She could only rely on Maggie, who worked by her bed, to read the newspaper and books to her.

What about Draco, you ask?

Will Maggie give him the chance to visit her and enjoy Della's tenderness?

It took all of Maggie's patience to get that childish boy home safe and sound.

The Hogwarts school opening notice was delivered to the Rochelle estate early in the morning. When the owl fluttered its wet wings on the windowsill, Maggie had just cleaned the vase on Della's bedside and was about to replace it with a bunch of fresh dewy daffodils.

Maggie waved her hand and mercilessly drove away the dusty owl, and the unwelcome Hogwarts letter fell into his hands. Maggie glanced at Della who was sleeping soundly, and opened the letter as a guardian.

The admission notice and preparation list have remained unchanged for thousands of years. Maggie picked up the list and glanced at it, accurately catching sight of "a dress" on the list.

Probably the Christmas ball.

Maggie was well-informed, but she had always been short on information related to Dumbledore, and the old man never played by the rules, so he could only guess.

Then, Maggie started to get angry again. Dresses and balls naturally reminded her of dance partners. Who would Della's dance partner be?

Draco.

Humph, what a disgusting answer with no suspense.

Maggie has been unusually jealous lately because Della's attitude towards him has fallen into a long period of frost, colder than ever before.

There was still trust between them that far exceeded that of others, but the girl he had raised began to become noticeably distant from him, and they were no longer as close as before.

And when he could count on one hand the number of times Della smiled at him in a year, how could Maggie not be jealous when a certain blond annoying guy whom he despised could easily win the girl's affection.

Even from Della's perspective on love, Draco is not something that needs special attention...

Maggie remembered the look Della had given Belinda on Christmas Eve, the same look she had given Draco, the same look she had given him when she first received the pearl hairpin, and even the same look she had given him when she was first invited to her home by Mrs. Mason.

Maggie realized from then on that Draco was not special, but Della had an emotional need. The emotional need that only considered itself was actually selfish, but love, an emotional form that implied a long-term responsible relationship, made Della particularly addicted.

Because that's the right thing to do.

Della can legitimately demand affection, and even giving may be just to satisfy her own wishes.

After realizing this, thinking about the ignorant Draco, I even felt pity for him, because his affection was genuine, but what he received was false affection that he would never see through.

But Draco was lucky enough to receive Della's false affection, and he should feel honored.

After her thoughts turned back to this point, Maggie wanted to cast a killing curse on the boy again.

"Did you get a letter?" Della woke up when Maggie was staring at the letter and imagining how Draco died. She looked at the unique envelope belonging to Hogwarts and slowly sat up. "Hogwarts' start of school notice?"

When Della said this, she remembered Remus Lupin's words "school is about to start" in Zhou Yushi's memory. Her already pale face became even worse. Cynthia White's appearance had become a nightmare that tormented her.

"Don't even think about it. You can't go," Maggie said as she lifted the quilt for Della. "I'll write back to Dumbledore to explain your condition."

"No, I have to go check on Cynthia White," Della said, coughing violently, her face finally flushed a little, but it made her look worse, "and there is also Madam Pomfrey in the school--"

"A doctor can't change your situation of being alone in Hogwarts," Maggie interrupted Della and patted her on the back. "Do you think I can let you be surrounded by radical and flattering fools in this physical condition?"

"But, cough--cough--" Della took a breath with difficulty, "I'm not at ease."

"I'll go check for you. You won't get any good news this way," Maggie handed Della some water. "I'll find out what's going on with Cynthia White."

Della's head started to hurt again. She knew Maggie was right. She would not be able to make it to school in her current physical condition. But if she asked Maggie to go see the doll...

"Don't kill her," Della finally held Maggie's arm tightly, "That's my work, leave her to me."

"Don't worry, I won't," Maggie shook Della's cold hand and replied gently, "When did I become so bloodthirsty?"

He said this, but in his mind he was already thinking of various less surprising murders.

As usual, after reading the newspaper to Della and reading a book for a while, Maggie took the letter back to the study. After sitting down, he put the letter aside, unfolded another piece of letter paper, and picked up the quill.

'Dear Professor Dumbledore, I am very glad that you can send my sister the admission notice, but unfortunately my sister is not well now...'

His language on paper was always polite, but he deliberately used Tom Riddle's handwriting, believing that this would increase the chances of Dumbledore allowing him to enter Hogwarts.

"I heard that your school is going to hold an important event this year. My sister is very sorry that she can't attend the event at the moment. If possible, I wonder if you can make it convenient for me to visit the school on the night of enrollment so that I can explain the situation in detail to Della, reduce her regret, and also facilitate her recovery."

'In addition, I wonder if the vacancy for the professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts in your school has been filled? I am a member of the International Society of Dark Arts, and have made some achievements in dark magic. I am currently actively looking for a related job and I very much hope to get an interview opportunity for this position.'

When signing, the feather pen in Maggie's hand paused. He thought for a while, and finally wrote "Mr. Riddle".
