Chapter 286: The Book of Dharma Represents the Earth, and the Umbrella of Dharma Represents the Sky

Chapter 286: The Book of Dharma Represents the Earth, and the Umbrella of Dharma Represents the Sky

The following autumn.

It's rainy again, and the mountains and sea are invisible.

He is making an umbrella.

Refining the book was a coincidence, a blessing that came to him by chance, and an accidental discovery. However, refining the umbrella was something he had planned in advance. After he hastily survived the tribulation for the first time and returned to the mountain, he was thinking about what his own treasure for surviving the tribulation and protecting himself should look like.

Thunder is the spiritual hub of heaven and earth. It has both the supreme good fortune of promoting vitality and the killing intention of annihilation. This is especially true for the thunder of cleansing elixir. The thunder of thunder has a strong vitality and a particularly deep killing intention.

The word "calamity" comes first. After it comes to the world, it is going to split the golden elixir. This is a part of the cycle of spiritual energy in heaven and earth, and it is the same as birth, aging, illness and death. If a cultivator wants to change his fate and prolong his life, it is like sailing against the current and stealing fortune, so he must go through the test of heaven and earth.

Therefore, the golden elixir must first withstand the annihilation and killing intent in the thunder, and then it can be said to enjoy the supreme fortune in the thunder, making the golden elixir further perfect and flawless.

People have always been smart. The golden elixir is the foundation of the great way and is so precious that it must be carefully protected and preserved in every possible way. If it is possible not to take risks, then don't take them. So they came up with an idea - to refine a special treasure for overcoming tribulations.

When the thunderbolt falls, let the treasure that can overcome the tribulation bear the terrifying might first, the killing intent that wants to annihilate everything. There is no need to intercept it completely, or to separate it, so that the golden elixir and the treasure that can overcome the tribulation bathe in the thunder together; or to divide it in order, with the treasure that can overcome the tribulation bearing the front and the golden elixir carrying the back.

As for how much of the treasure for overcoming the tribulation should be diverted, or how long it should be held out, that naturally depends on the quality of the golden elixir. As long as the golden elixir can hold out, then the more lightning it receives, the better, provided it does not break apart.

A good sword is the result of repeated grinding, and the same goes for golden elixir.

The golden elixir is the foundation of the great way, the source of magical power, and also a treasure that can be used to fight the enemy, either by throwing it or transforming it into a Dharma image. If it itself is not solid enough, how can it fight the enemy?
Cleansing the elixir with thunder is like forging a weapon with a hammer. It is a way to remove weeds and strengthen the body, but too much is as bad as too little. The person who is going through the tribulation needs to grasp the balance.

When Cheng Xinzhan endured the thunder tribulation for the first time, it came suddenly and his golden elixir had just been formed. So after he was hit by two thunder tribulations, he realized that something was wrong. To be on the safe side, he did not see how much thunder his golden elixir could withstand, but instead used all the magic weapons on his body to divert the thunder. When the magic weapons could no longer withstand it, the remaining thunder would be poured onto the golden elixir.

In the end, he used all his means, including flying swords, magic swords, talismans, incarnations, and even his physical body, to split the thunder, and only then did he barely survive. And drinking the thunder made his magic incarnations unable to move for several years.

Cheng Xinzhan naturally had to learn from this experience and lesson and refine a special treasure to overcome tribulations.

In addition, the treasures for overcoming tribulations do not only refer to magic weapons, but also spiritual objects and formations. However, the heaven and earth cannot be deceived, and the treasures for overcoming tribulations used to divide the thunder for the golden elixir must have the same origin as the golden elixir's own aura.

This means that the treasure for surviving the tribulation must only have the aura of the person who is surviving the tribulation. It is definitely not possible to directly borrow someone else's treasure for surviving the tribulation. Even if it is not made by oneself, it must be nurtured in the body for a long enough time to dissipate the aura of the old owner and infect one's own aura.

Looking at the magic weapons that Cheng Xinzhan currently has, there are only a few types.

Weapons: Yin-Yang Flying Sword, Five Elements Magic Sword, Thunder Magic Sword, Gold and Water Sword.

Ritual objects: robes, ruyi, tablet, wake-up bell, and mirror.

Talismans: Taishang Tiandu Lu, Xuanji Wuluo Talisman.

Lingzhu: Xuanpinzhu.

Treasure mirror: crimson purple life-saving mirror.

Shelter: red gall gourd, cave stone.

Dharma book: Comprehensive record of the whole world.

Incarnation: seven-section bamboo body, karma fire lotus body, and dust-free lotus body.

There is no need to mention the other personal accessories, talismans, and some small magical instruments that are only used when setting up formations and setting up altars.

Among them, only the Thunder Sword, the Dharma Robe, the Gourd, and the Earth Book can be used as treasures for overcoming tribulations. The rest, due to their materials, attributes, refining methods, functions, etc., can be used to increase spirituality after passing through the tribulation, but they are not suitable for attracting lightning.

Cheng Xinzhan’s first pill tribulation was the Thirty-Nine Thunder Tribulation, and this time there might be more, and even more in the future, so he specially refined another magic weapon for overcoming the tribulation.

An umbrella.

In Taoism, there are two kinds of magic umbrellas, one is Huagai and the other is Hunyuan umbrella.

The Lingbao Ritual Instruments says: "The Huagai, with pearls and tassels hanging down, supports the image of the sky and protects all the true beings. Its shape is round to imitate the sky, and its color is dark yellow to correspond to the balance. The sky is always there, so the Huagai is not closed, to show that the Dharma Realm is always bright and the divine power is forever."

Huagai is a special kind of Dharma umbrella, itself a ritual vessel. It is a magic tool needed when statues of saints and ancestors travel, or when great meritorious people hold fasts and sacrifices, or perform rituals on the altar. It is mainly used to protect the Dharma, ward off evil, and scare away demons.

Because it is a ritual vessel, the Huagai looks very gorgeous, and the refining process is very complicated and sophisticated. Every detail must follow the rules, otherwise it cannot be called a Huagai. Moreover, the Huagai symbolizes heaven and law, and is always displayed. Once it is used for sacrifice, it is very eye-catching.

At the beginning, when Cheng Xinzhan and Jiang Weishan discussed refining the magic umbrella, Jiang Weishan strongly recommended Cheng Xinzhan to refine the Huagai, which was in line with his identity as a master of all dharma scriptures!

Cheng Xinzhan was tempted at first, but after thinking about it, he gave up. The eye-catching nature of the Huagai was one thing, but the main reason was that the Huagai was too particular and had too many rules and regulations. This in turn restricted Cheng Xinzhan's ideas when refining the weapon. If he refined the Huagai completely according to his own wishes, he would be laughed at when he took it out.

Moreover, the fact that the Huagai is always open does not suit Cheng Xinzhan's wishes. He prefers to keep the sword in the sheath until it is drawn, and then the sky will collapse and the earth will crack, just like keeping the sword in the sheath, and everything will be settled when it is unsheathed.

So in the end he chose the Hunyuan Umbrella.

The Hunyuan Umbrella has a variety of shapes and is not restricted. It can be said that all umbrellas except the Huagai can be called Hunyuan Umbrella. Of course, the word Hunyuan is just a Taoist term, which first came from a passage in "The Customization of Taoist Instruments", which is:
"When the Dharma Umbrella is opened, it is as vast as the sky, encompassing everything; when it is closed, it gathers energy and returns to its origin, hiding its edge and keeping its simplicity. Taoists hold it to ward off all external filth and nourish their true spirits. It is a tool that combines movement and stillness, and can enter and exit the abyss."

In fact, the most common Hunyuan umbrella looks like rain gear in the secular world, and is divided into four parts: umbrella cover, umbrella ribs, umbrella handle, and umbrella top.

The Hunyuan Umbrella refined by Cheng Xinzhan, whose full name is "Luotian Hunyuan Umbrella", is a type of Hunyuan Umbrella. It is similar in shape to an umbrella, but much larger. Even without using the art of transformation, the handle of the umbrella is taller than a human head. Some people, when the magic umbrella is folded, will use it as a gun or stick.

Cheng Xinzhan has refined two swords of the same model. He started to conceive of both when he slew the demons at Tianshao Mountain. He has been refining them intermittently over the years, and only accelerated the progress this year, and is about to succeed.

This first umbrella is the one Cheng Xinzhan will use to overcome the tribulation. He named it "Taiyi Qinghua Umbrella". Speaking of Taiyi, he has many secret techniques named after Taiyi, but no magic weapon named after Taiyi. He also gave the Taiyi Divine Thunder and Taiyi Qingling Arrow obtained from Xuanmen to his apprentice. So this is his first magic weapon named after Taiyi.

Of course, he named it Taiyi not because he thought the grade of this magic weapon was high enough to be named Taiyi, but because he used many spells and rituals of the Taiyi Jiuku Taoist tradition during the initial refining process.

Taiyi saves the suffering and protects the body, and its magic is very suitable for refining into a treasure to protect oneself from disasters.

The umbrella was now hanging in the cave, with its surface spread out and emitting a bright light. Cheng Xinzhan was sitting cross-legged in the air, above the umbrella, leaning forward and writing runes for the treasure umbrella.

This umbrella is six feet and nine inches high, nine feet and two inches long in diameter, and it glows green all over.

At the beginning, the umbrella handles and ribs were all made of bamboo - bamboo is the spiritual root that is most in abundance in Meiji Mountain.

The umbrella handle is also called the Dharma pillar. Cheng Xinzhan used Langxu bamboo, which is as thick as a child's arm and has twenty-four sections. A top-grade turquoise stone from Xikang is embedded under the umbrella handle.

The ribs of the umbrella are also called "fa ji". There are thirty-six of them. He used purple bamboo, which has a golden and stone luster. They are neatly arranged together, and they look like exploding lightning.

The umbrella is also called a Dharma veil. The cloth used was obtained from Shouyin Mountain. Cheng Xinzhan traveled around the world and would collect some of the rare and beautiful clouds when he encountered them. A little bit of accumulation added up to a certain amount. This time, in order to refine two magic umbrellas, he took all of them to Shouyin Mountain to exchange, and exchanged the clouds for two rolls of woven cloud cloth.

The quality of the cloud cloth of Shou Yinshan is of course excellent, it is a top-grade spiritual object, and the cloth used to make the Taiyi Qinghua Umbrella is of course Qingyun. According to Shou Yinshan's disciples, the cloth given to the master was made from the thin layer of cloud edge with a green glow on the top of the thunderstorm cloud during the Jingzhe period, and it takes many years to weave such a piece of cloth.

Cheng Xinzhan was also very satisfied.

The shapes of umbrella tops are varied, including horn-shaped, sword-shaped, bead-shaped, gourd-shaped, flower-shaped, mountain-shaped, mirror-shaped, animal-shaped, bird-shaped, etc. For this umbrella, Cheng Xinzhan used bronze to smelt a small nine-story pagoda as the umbrella top.

It is not easy to refine these things into an umbrella. It is not like making an umbrella by simply assembling these things together according to the process. The difficulty lies in the coordination of the elements and the connection of spiritual energy.

The water-related Langxu bamboo and the thunder-related purple-muscle bamboo cannot fight, and the cloud cloth that cannot lift anything can hold up the bronze tower. When the thunder strikes, the top of the umbrella will be collected first, and then dispersed to the umbrella surface when it cannot be collected. Some thunder will be dispersed, and some will go along the umbrella ribs into the umbrella handle and then pass to the golden elixir.

This is only used for overcoming tribulations. This umbrella certainly cannot be used only for overcoming tribulations. If it is used as a self-defense treasure, how can the umbrella surface receive spells and magic weapons from the enemy, whether it absorbs them in or bounces them back, and how can the force be unloaded through the umbrella ribs.

There are many details involved in this, and precisely because it is so troublesome to refine, the magic umbrella is rarely seen in use. It is far less common than shields, silk handkerchiefs, and gauze tents.

However, Cheng Xinzhan needs to consider more if he wants to refine a magic weapon.

Can the Dharma Umbrella only face the enemy with the outer umbrella? If it is raised high in the air with the inner umbrella facing downward, can the umbrella surface become a cloud to bring down thunder, lightning, rain and fog?

If we regard the world under the umbrella as another world, can we take people in after opening it, and then close the umbrella to make a prison for detention and suppression?

If holding an umbrella can create a world of its own, can it be used to perform magic tricks and create illusions?
Can you hold up an umbrella to shield us from the secrets of heaven and from the detection of higher realms?

Can we use the umbrella handle as a pole and the umbrella cover as a flag to serve as the centerpiece of a command flag formation?

With the umbrella folded up, can it be used as a stick, gun or spear?
As Cheng Xinzhan continued to refine the umbrella, he had more and more ideas. He added more and more gold of the Five Elements and rare treasures from heaven and earth. The runes and prohibitions drawn on the umbrella became denser and denser, and he laid out layer upon layer of cloud cloth. He originally thought that he had replaced too much cloud cloth, but later found that it was almost not enough.

This magic weapon has also changed from a Taiyi savior and body-protecting treasure to a treasure that integrates all methods. The Taiyi body-protecting talisman painted on the umbrella surface at the beginning has been covered layer by layer.

However, he was too lazy to change the name of "Taiyi Qinghua Umbrella". But at this time, "Taiyi" no longer only refers to "Taiyi Jiuku Tianzun", but also refers to "Tao". The word "Qinghua" now only refers to the external appearance of Qinghua Dharma Light.

With his final stroke, there was no more room for ink on the nine-layered umbrella surface, which was filled with dense patterns and talismans.

After Cheng Xinzhan put down his pen, he took a special look outside the cave. There was wind, clouds, rain and thunder, but there was no sign of a disaster. Cheng Xinzhan couldn't figure out whether it was a coincidence or a strange phenomenon.

He laughed at himself, could it be that he still expected that every magic weapon he used could reach the same level as the Earth Book?

Looking at the umbrella again at this time, although the umbrella surface is covered with patterns, Cheng Xinzhan's strokes are well-arranged, with a certain depth and thickness, so it does not look messy, but has a different kind of beauty.

The magic umbrella still looks green all over.

The umbrella surface is like the dome of the sky, with the stars in the sky painted on the outside and wind, rain, clouds and thunder painted on the inside. But if you look closely, you can find that every star outside the umbrella and every cloud pattern inside the umbrella are made up of countless tiny talismans.

These talismans are linked together, layered upon layer, giving rise to countless changes. If you look at them for a long time, you will find that these talismans are moving. Then, the stars in the sky, wind, rain, clouds and thunder are also moving, as if they want to suck in people's gaze and souls.

The talisman is connected from the umbrella surface to the handle and ribs of the umbrella, and the Dharma light flows on it like water. The handle and ribs of the umbrella still look like bamboo, but they make golden and jade sounds when knocked, indicating that this is no longer the original material.

As for the top of the umbrella, it is more like a fairy tower in the Qingming Galaxy, standing still and peacefully, with all the stars in the sky surrounding it, and wind, rain, clouds and thunder all beneath it. It is unknown what kind of fortune it contains.

Cheng Xinzhan looked at the treasure umbrella and nodded with satisfaction. He produced two treasures in succession. The magic book represented the earth, and the magic umbrella represented the sky. Although this umbrella did not summon thunder like the book of earth, Cheng Xinzhan also thought that it was the pinnacle of his current magic refining. He folded the umbrella with satisfaction and put it into the purple mansion.

Then, he took out another umbrella, which was exactly the same size and model as the "Taiyi Qinghua Umbrella", but the whole umbrella was a dark black-red color, making the entire cave warm.

Although the umbrella handle and ribs are also made of bamboo, they are dry bamboo with a red background and black spots. This kind of bamboo only has a stem and no branches or leaves. It grows in dry land and is full of fire. When it grows up, it will burn itself to death. It is a very strange bamboo.

The umbrella cover is also made of cloud cloth from Yinshan Mountain, but it is made of fiery clouds after a summer rain and at sunset, and at the same time, it has a bit of dark twilight.

Cheng Xinzhan, the umbrella top, used a cone-like fire dragon horn, which he got when he killed a dragon in Yuyang.

On the outside of the umbrella, tiny moving runes interweave to form a black, raging sea of fire, while the pattern on the inside is falling stars like flaming rain in the pitch-black night.

This umbrella was refined earlier than the "Taiyi Qinghua Umbrella". He made it while he was refining an umbrella for himself. It was a gift.

"Qing Bo, come here for a moment."
