Chapter 289: Python Harming People

Some tiny wood chips fell like snowflakes, sprinkling at the feet of Qi Tongwei and the captain.

Qi Tongwei looked at the falling debris, and the despair in his heart grew stronger.

He knew that the debris was not just a symbol of the damage to the wooden box, but also a sign of the countdown of their lives.

Every piece of debris that fell meant they were one step closer to death.

The captain's eyes were filled with fear and his body was shaking uncontrollably.

He had never felt so helpless and scared, as if he had been abandoned by fate in this terrible place.

He looked at Qi Tongwei and said in a trembling voice: "What should we do? These wooden boxes won't last much longer."

Qi Tongwei took a deep breath and tried to calm himself down.

He knew that at this moment, panicking would only lead them to death faster.

He forced himself to think, looking for any possible way to escape.

"We can't just sit there and wait for death. We must find a way to strengthen this barrier," said Qi Tongwei.

The captain nodded, but there was a helpless expression on his face.

"But what can we use to reinforce it? There is nothing here."

Qi Tongwei looked around and suddenly found some iron bars in the corner of the room.

His eyes lit up and an idea came to his mind.

"We can use these iron bars to support the wooden boxes, maybe make the barrier last longer."

They acted immediately and quickly ran to the corner and picked up iron bars.

However, when they returned to the box, they found that the crocodile's attack was even more fierce.

Several crocodiles had already climbed onto the wooden box and were scratching the boards with their sharp claws, trying to break through the barrier.

Qi Tongwei and the captain were worried again.

They quickly used iron bars to prop up the wooden box, trying to stop the crocodile's attack.

However, the crocodile was so powerful that their efforts seemed insignificant.

"This is not a solution. We must think of a better way." The captain said anxiously.

Qi Tongwei's brain was working rapidly, and he suddenly came up with a risky plan.

"We can use the flames to scare the crocodiles, maybe they will be afraid of the fire and won't come near."

The captain hesitated, then nodded. "Well, this is our only option right now."

They quickly searched the room for something to burn.

Luckily, they found some old newspapers and wood in a corner.

They piled these things together and then set them on fire with lighters.

The flames burned fiercely, emitting bright light and a pungent smell.

Qi Tongwei and the captain held burning torches and approached the wooden box carefully.

When the crocodiles saw the flames, they showed expressions of fear.

They retreated one after another, not daring to approach.

However, the flames could not last long.

As time went on, the newspaper and wood gradually burned out and the flames became smaller and smaller.

The crocodiles seemed to notice this and they began to approach the wooden box again.

Qi Tongwei and the captain's hearts were in their throats again.

They knew that once the flames died down, the alligators would attack again.

They had to find another solution quickly.

At this moment, Qi Tongwei suddenly discovered a pipe above the pool.

His eyes lit up and a new plan came to his mind.

"We can climb up that pipe and maybe find a way to escape."

The captain looked at the pipe and shook his head. "That pipe is too high. How can we climb up?"

Qi Tongwei thought for a moment, then said: "We can build a ladder with wooden boxes and iron bars, and then climb up."

They acted quickly, moving the boxes underneath the pipes and then fastening them together with iron rods to form a crude ladder.

However, just as they were about to climb the ladder, the crocodiles attacked again.

A huge crocodile broke through the wooden box barrier and pounced towards them.

Qi Tongwei and the captain quickly picked up torches and tried to scare the crocodile.

However, the crocodile did not seem to be afraid of the flames and continued to rush towards them.

Qi Tongwei and the captain quickly dodged sideways, and the crocodile hit the wall heavily.

It roared angrily and pounced on them again.

Qi Tongwei and the captain picked up iron rods and prepared to fight.

The crocodile opened its bloody mouth and bit towards them.

Qi Tongwei and the captain quickly used iron bars to block the crocodile's mouth, but the crocodile was so powerful that they could hardly resist.

Just when they were in despair, the captain suddenly found a fire extinguisher nearby.

He quickly picked up the fire extinguisher and sprayed it into the crocodile's eyes.

The crocodile roared in pain as the powder from the fire extinguisher irritated its eyes.

It quickly retreated, not daring to get any closer.

Qi Tongwei and the captain took the opportunity to climb up the ladder and crawl towards the pipe.

There was a pungent smell in the pipe, making it difficult to breathe.

However, they had no time to complain and could only crawl forward desperately.

After climbing for an unknown amount of time, they finally saw a ray of light.

They quickened their pace and crawled towards the light.

Qi Tongwei and the captain crawled hard in the narrow and pungent pipe, the only hope in their hearts was that ray of light.

When they finally approached the light, they thought they had found a chance to survive, but they never expected that an even more terrifying and desperate situation was waiting for them.

They climbed out of the pipe, and before they could even gain their footing, they were stunned by the scene before them.

This place is just as dark and damp, but it is filled with a stronger smell of danger.

In front of them, several huge pythons were swimming around. Their sturdy bodies and scales that were shining with cold light made people shudder.

Just as they were terrified, a python suddenly attacked and entangled the captain in lightning speed.

The captain struggled in fear, but the python was so powerful that it bound him tightly, making him almost unable to move.

The python opened its bloody mouth, revealing its sharp fangs, and bit the captain's shoulder fiercely.

The captain screamed in pain, and the sound echoed in this gloomy space.

Qi Tongwei was so frightened by this sudden scene that he stepped back repeatedly. His face was pale and his eyes were full of fear.

His mind went blank and his body trembled uncontrollably.

At this moment, he forgot his duties and the friendship between him and the captain. He had only one thought in his mind - to survive.

The captain saw Qi Tongwei retreating in pain, and a strong resentment surged in his heart.

"Qi Tongwei, you watched him die without helping!" the captain shouted angrily, his voice full of despair and unwillingness.

When Qi Tongwei heard the captain's accusation, he felt a pang of pain in his heart.

He wanted to rush forward to save the captain, but his legs felt as heavy as if they were filled with lead and he couldn't take a step.
