Chapter 300: A tower rises from a high platform, and the tower reaches the blue sky
Chapter 300: A tower rises from a high platform, and the tower reaches the blue sky (The earthly immortals wish the college entrance examination students to win the prize and rise to the top)
In late spring of the 465th year of the Ming Dynasty, on February 29th, it was Qingming Festival.
The weather is clear and clear.
At the hour of Mao, the sky was still slightly bright and a little cool.
Cheng Xinzhan was ready to escape thousands of miles away, and the two boys had already returned to the mountain. However, he did not say that he would completely abandon Kanli Mountain. He had practiced in Kanli Mountain for eight or nine years. With his attainments in the five elements, earth veins, and formations, he was able to build a great formation.
In fact, he had already considered this when he came to Kanli Mountain to build the temple. Now, the five poisonous clouds and smoke miasma that guarded Kanli Mountain had indeed reached the realm of the five elements rotating and yin and yang coexisting. If you want to break it by force, you have to overturn the entire Kanli Mountain. However, Kanli Mountain is next to the Dadu River. If you want to overturn Kanli Mountain without affecting the Dadu River, you have to be careful when doing it.
This is the advantage of the formation. As long as it is adapted to local conditions and the means are sophisticated enough, time can be exchanged for power. Tianjiao Mountain is a good example. Of course, the formation of Tianjiao Mountain has connected mountains and rivers for thousands of years, so it is naturally more amazing than his.
Before leaving, he changed several restrictions, so that all the pass tokens previously issued to Kang Shu's friends were unusable.
After sealing off the temple and closing the mountain, Cheng Xinzhan arrived at the top of the snow. The lion was already ready. It had slept for many years and now finally stood up.
Feng Jihu stretched out two fingers, holding a round leaf the size of a copper coin. He twisted his fingers and the round leaf flew out, growing in the wind until it became as big as a bathtub. The pattern of the leaf looked like a lotus leaf, but it didn't have a lotus leaf stem, and its color was white like a cloud.
"what is this?"
Cheng Xinzhan asked, he had never seen it before.
"Tian Furong."
Cheng Xinzhan blinked. He had heard of water hibiscus and wood hibiscus, but had never heard of heavenly hibiscus.
"It is a rare spiritual plant that grows in the sea of clouds and snow. I also saw it in an ancient medicine book, but I never found a living plant. I found it in Xikang a few years ago."
Feng Jihu explained with a smile.
Cheng Xinzhan also smiled when he heard this.
"I was right to ask you to come to Xikang to have a look."
"That's right, you are never wrong. Okay, let's go now."
----
Western Shu is a vast land between the Minjiang River and the Dadu River. It is the transition zone between the Duguan Wilderness and the Xikang Plateau. It has a huge altitude difference, with thousands of peaks competing for splendor and countless valleys hiding beautiful scenery.
There is a saying that goes, Half of the Lingshan Mountains in Western Shu are located in western Shu.
On the west side of the Min River, from north to south, Qingcheng Mountain, Heming Mountain and Emei Mountain are connected in a line, which is needless to say. Further west, there are Erlang Mountain, Siguniang Mountain, Xiling Snow Mountain, Wawu Mountain, Niubei Mountain, Longcang Mountain and other famous mountains, including Tiantai Mountain.
In the east of Kuaiji, there is also a Tiantai Mountain with the same name, which is also named after the mountain's topography. But there are some differences between the two.
Cheng Xinzhan had traveled to Kuaiji. He had seen Mount Tiantai there and had a deep impression of it. On the day Gu Chen was born, Mount Tiantai tried to stop him, although it was just a show.
He remembered that it was a beautiful group of mountains, not very high, but with rolling hills and green trees like waves. The name Tiantai came from the fact that the highest peak was a flat-topped mountain, which was also the location of the Tiantai Mountain School's ancestral hall.
At this time, he and Feng Jihu had traveled more than 600 miles from Kanli Mountain to the southeast. They could see Tiantai Mountain in western Shu from afar.
Among the mountains, Mount Tiantai is easy to spot, and Cheng Xinzhan knows why it is called Mount Tiantai. The mountain is divided into three distinct terraces from northeast to southwest, one higher than the other, and the highest one is already above the clouds.
After being accustomed to seeing dangerous peaks, beautiful mountains and stone forests, I have seen the unique Nine-Peak Iron Raft in eastern Shandong, and now I see the three-step terraces that rise layer by layer in western Sichuan. This is the so-called wonders of nature.
However, what really makes Mount Tiantai in western Sichuan famous is not just the steep scenery of the mountain, but the Demon-Locking Tower located on the highest terrace.
According to legend, five thousand years ago, during the Southern Dynasties, there was no Xuanmen in Shu. Buddhism and Taoism coexisted, and Buddhism in Shu was more prosperous than Taoism. At that time, Emperor Wu of Liang believed in Buddhism and ordered the construction of pagodas in various places. At that time, Buddhism in Shu also followed the trend of Buddhism and found Tiantai Mountain. They collected diamond white jade from all over the world and built an extremely magnificent pagoda on the top of the highest point, Tiantai, to store the relics of eminent monks and scriptures. At that time, it was known as the "No. 1 Relic Pagoda in Shu".
This pagoda stood until the beginning of the Tang Dynasty, when eminent monks traveled west and Buddhism flourished again. The pagoda was rebuilt and renovated again, and numerous restrictions were set up to prevent the relics and scriptures from being covered in dust. By that time, it was already a famous pagoda in the southwest, known as the "No. 1 Meritorious Pagoda in the Southwest."
However, at that time, the dispute over the orthodoxy of Eastern and Western Buddhism was becoming increasingly fierce, and Buddhism was already in a state of turmoil. In the second killing of immortals, although ancient Western Buddhism was expelled from China, Buddhism in China was also severely damaged. After the second wave of immortals' seclusion ended, there were no eminent monks left in Shu.
Next, Emperor Wu of the Tang Dynasty raised his army in Shu, revived the Tang Dynasty, worshipped Taoism and denounced Buddhism. At that time, the two Taoist traditions of Emei and Qingcheng passed down by Zhao Zhenjun emerged, and the four great sword immortals Guangting, Gongyuan, Tiandu and Minghe appeared. The momentum below the mountain and the momentum above the mountain merged into a torrent, and Shu suddenly changed and became a place of Xuanmen.
With the change of owner in Shu, this "First Merit Tower in Southwest" has become eye-catching, especially when Buddhism was flourishing, it suppressed Taoism. Shu was a world of its own with limited believers and limited land. The two sects had debated with each other and had done a lot of things, including cutting down mountains and destroying temples. Now the world changed overnight. Under the advice and leadership of Guangting Zhenren, the sword fairy of Emei, all the high-ranking Taoists went to Mount Tiantai, dug up the Buddhist pagoda and rebuilt a Taoist pagoda.
Moreover, at that time, the Taoist sect in Shu had just started shouting the slogan of Xuanmen, and naturally they wanted to establish their prestige and credibility. They searched the mountains and rivers on a large scale, and captured water monsters, evil spirits, wild ghosts, and mountain monsters, and lined them up to be sent to this newly built tower for suppression, which established the great reputation of Xuanmen and also established the great reputation of this Taoist tower on Mount Tiantai.
This is the origin of the Demon Locking Tower.
The closer we got, the clearer the tower became.
The tower is located on the highest peak of Tiantai Mountain. The mountain is foggy below the tower, and the top of the tower is directly in the blue sky. The tower has eight sides, an octagonal hanging bell, a total of eleven floors, and is three hundred feet high. It is dark blue in color and emits a hazy precious light. It looks like a huge bronze mace inserted upside down on the top of the mountain, majestic and imposing.
We had agreed to enter the tower at the hour of Chen, but it was still the beginning of the morning at this time, and the sky had just brightened. However, at the highest peak of Mount Tiantai, around the Demon Locking Tower, there were already crowds of people and a lot of noise, and there were still many streams of light coming from all directions.
But what surprised them was that not only were people coming in an endless stream, but a few were also leaving.
The two looked at each other, unable to guess the reason, so they put their doubts aside and went down the hill.
The mounts of the two men were also very famous in Xikang. When they landed on Mount Tiantai, someone shouted that people from Guanxuan Temple had arrived, attracting many people's attention.
Yu Nanlin had been waiting for a long time and immediately came forward.
When everyone saw this, they immediately started discussing:
"Hey! Why did Miss Yu invite these two here?"
"It can't be that Abbot Yun and Master Huai Pu are both foreign guests invited by Miss Yu!"
"That's really bad! These are at least two masters who have reached the third level of calamity." "..."
Generally speaking, if people don't know the number of times a person has gone through tribulations, or have witnessed the grade of tribulation clouds and the number of thunders during the pill washing, or if a person has offered a golden elixir and a Dharma image during a fight, then unless one's realm is much higher than the other person's or one has opened a very high-grade Dharma eye, it is impossible to guess how many times this person has washed the pill.
On the Xuanmen side, the importance of the soul is even greater than the golden elixir, so the focus of cleansing the elixir tribulation is instead on cleansing the soul. In this way, unless one uses the Zique magical power or the soul leaves the body, it will be even more difficult to see the specific three realms.
Of course, this method doesn't work on acquaintances, because the difference between the second realm and the third realm is very obvious and can be seen at a glance. After advancing to the third realm, the rule of Jiazi Xidan is still applicable to most people, so as long as you know a person's age, you can make a rough guess.
As for someone you have just met, you can only guess based on his fighting ability.
These people speculated that Cheng Xinzhan was in the third calamity. The reason was very simple. He had killed too many demons in Xikang, and there were also several who were in the third calamity. So the people in Xuanmen naturally speculated that he was in the third calamity. As for this Master Huai Pu, since he was always in the company of Guanxuan Temple Master and his medical skills were so high, his realm must not be low.
The two of them landed on the ground, and the hibiscus leaf under Feng Jihu's seat turned into a copper coin-sized thing, which he held between his fingertips and then turned over, and it disappeared. After Cheng Xinzhan jumped off the lion, the white elephant-sized lion turned into a human waist-sized thing and followed behind Cheng Xinzhan.
Hearing the discussions of the people around him, the smile on Yu Nanlin's face became even brighter. This time he was going to be in the spotlight.
"Master Yun, Master Huaipu."
She smiled and saluted.
"Friend Yu."
"Friend Yu."
The two returned the gift.
After Cheng Xinzhan landed, he looked around and listened carefully. After all, this was Xuanmen's territory, and there were so many golden elixirs gathered here. He could only be cautious and try to grasp as much information as possible.
He heard the people around him talking noisily, and there seemed to be some quarrels. It didn't seem like they were quietly waiting for the pagoda to open, but it seemed like something unexpected had happened. Many Xuanmen disciples had guilty expressions on their faces, while those outsiders like him were very surprised, and some were so angry that they left directly.
He frowned slightly and asked Yu Nanlin,
"Fellow Taoist, what's going on?"
Yu Nanlin understood his incoherent words, and a trace of guilt soon appeared on her face.
"Something unexpected happened. Including outsiders, more than 500 people signed up for this spring collection. If we divide it up, each person can get less than two demons. So if we want to achieve good results, we have to compete."
"Rob?"
Cheng Xinzhan repeated.
Yu Nanlin nodded and handed a jade key to Cheng Xinzhan and Feng Jihu respectively.
"Because there are so many people who signed up, this is the jade key specially made by the alliance for this spring tower sweep. It can freely enter any virtual prison in the tower."
"anyone?"
Cheng Xinzhan was a little surprised when he heard this. He reached out to take the jade key and said in a loud voice. This sounded like great news.
But Yu Nanlin's voice became smaller.
"Master Yun, this is a jade key for free entry, not a jade key for free exit."
Cheng Xinzhan raised his eyebrows.
"What do you mean?"
Yu Nanlin explained in a low voice,
"Because there were too many people who signed up, this was the plan that was finalized this morning, and the jade key was also just distributed by the alliance."
The two looked at each other and understood why they were arguing. It turned out that Xuanmen had sent a sudden notice.
Yu Nanlin continued,
"In the past, when we Xuanmen disciples entered the Demon Locking Tower for trials, we were given a jade key that allowed us to enter and exit freely. If there was any danger, we could escape at any time. But the only disadvantage of this is that the restrictions in the tower only recognize the jade key and not the person. If we encounter a powerful demon, and the demon takes away the jade key before the Xuanmen disciple escapes, or follows him out, there will be chaos.
“However, we Xuanmen disciples must register and make an appointment in advance to enter the Demon Locking Tower. There won’t be too many people going in every day, so the chance of this happening is very small.
“Even if they do appear, there is no need to be afraid. There is a magic mirror in the tower. I remember telling Master Huai Pu before that the golden elixirs and souls of the demons in the tower are all under a spell. As long as these demons walk out of the prison in the virtual world, the magic mirror will be able to reveal them immediately, and the prison will also know it at the first time. There is no need to worry about the demons who are good at changing their appearance and escaping by disguising themselves as disciples of Xuanmen.
"So as long as a demon escapes from the prison, the prison guard in charge of the restrictions in the tower will find and stop him, and the gatekeeper at the tower gate will close and lock it until the prison guard or the reinforcements entering the tower lock the escaped demon back in. In this way, there won't be any major chaos."
Hearing this, Cheng Xinzhan and Feng Jihu looked at each other again, their faces becoming serious. They had heard about the golden elixir being sealed before, but they hadn't heard that there was a magic mirror in the tower! In this way, many of the methods they had planned would be useless!
And Yu Nanlin continued to speak,
"It was the same in the previous spring search. Groups and teams took turns to go in, and when they had reached their limit of demons, they would withdraw on their own. This was not a problem. But there are too many people this time. If they still go in in small groups, the delay can be barely acceptable. The biggest problem is that the people behind may have no demons to kill, or only the most difficult demons may be left. No one will be willing to do that.
“But if we let them in, if multiple people are robbed of their keys at the same time and a group of demons escape, the prison won’t be able to stop them. If these demons use the jade key to release other demons, I’m afraid there will be a big chaos. There are still many people in the tower at this time…
"So the alliance came up with this idea temporarily. Everyone rushed in and found a virtual prison to kill the demon. In addition to the jade key, the alliance also gave everyone a bell. If you kill the demon, you can ring the bell. If the prisoner sees that there is no problem, they will let you out and then find the next virtual prison.
“If you can’t defeat the demon, you can ring the bell for help, and the prisoner will go in to help you escape. But it’s not easy to ensure that it happens in time, and the prisoner may get hurt, or even... Moreover, even if the person who rings the bell for help is rescued, he can no longer sweep the tower and must leave the tower.
"So, Master Yun, and Master Huai Pu, you see..."
Yu Nanlin finished her explanation and took out two bells, carefully watching the expressions of Cheng Xinzhan and Feng Jihu. She herself understood that in this way, the risk for Xuanmen would be much smaller, but the risk for the tower sweepers would be much greater, especially for those outsiders who had never entered the Demon Locking Tower.
Therefore, some people are not satisfied with this temporary arrangement and have already left.
However, Yu Nanlin's worry was obviously unnecessary. Although Cheng Xinzhan and Feng Jihu looked unhappy, they were not worried about the demon, but how to get Gu Yi out without seeing the magic mirror and the prison. Even if it was the current plan, they could not refuse it. It was impossible for them to give up before entering the tower.
So the two looked at each other, nodded, took the bell, and said,
"It's out of the way."
