Chapter 391 The Underworld

Chapter 391 The Underworld
"Eradicate all evil." Xu Qing quickly pulled himself out of his thoughts about the Green Emperor.

The Jade Buddha is not really dead.

on!

Xu Qingxiantian pointed out a wisp of purple air, tracking the Jade Buddha's escaped footprints. Soon, he chased to a deep valley with many stone peaks.

"This should be the lair of Stone Guanyin." Xu Qing thought to himself, and quickly got rid of these stone peaks and entered the valley. He finally came to a stone wall.

There was no road in front of the stone wall.

The aura of the Jade Buddha disappeared completely here.

Xu Qing pondered for a moment, and the innate Taiyi Dao seed in his soul began to move.

Soon, enlightenment flashed through his mind.

Xu Qing pointed his finger at the stone wall and actually drew a door frame with his finger.

He slapped the stone wall lightly with his palm.

The door frame of the stone wall moved accordingly.

Three Flowers Gathering at the Top of the Head!
This unique skill of the ancient master Chongyang was used to perfection by Xu Qing.

The stone door opened, and a hazy world appeared behind the door.

Then a chilling breath hit him, like thousands of cold hands caressing his skin at the same time. Xu Qing stepped into the stone gate without hesitation, and the ground under his feet suddenly became soft, as if he was stepping on a ball of ethereal cotton.

The scene in front of him gradually became clear. A long blood-yellow river stretched in front of him. The river water was surging, making a creepy whimpering sound. Countless pale faces were floating in the river. Their empty eyes stared at Xu Qing, their mouths opened and closed silently, as if telling of endless grievances and pain.

There are many stone bridges on the river, and each stone bridge exudes an ancient and gloomy atmosphere.

The bridge was covered with cracks, as if it had gone through countless years of vicissitudes. On the stone bridge, ghosts with erratic figures were moving slowly, their bodies were translucent, looming in the dim light.

Some ghosts have distorted faces, full of resentment and unwillingness; others have dull expressions, mechanically repeating their actions in life.

On both sides of the river, strange flowers swayed in the wind, and the petals emitted a faint light, like an illusory dream. The light seemed to contain a power that could make people forget their troubles, but Xu Qing keenly realized that behind this seemingly beautiful light, there were deep confusions and traps.

The fragrance of the flowers wafted in the wind, with a hint of sweetness, yet also a faint smell of decay, as if it was watered with the blood and tears of countless souls.

"Naihe Bridge, Wangchuan River, and Bianhua? This is the underworld!"

Xu Qing thought to himself that it was true.

This jade Buddha actually escaped into the underworld.

Thinking about the incident when he was assassinated by two ghost messengers in Shaoshi Mountain, it seems that this jade Buddha is indeed closely related to the underworld.

If the human world is the foundation of the six realms of reincarnation, then the underworld is the hub of the six realms of reincarnation and the important core for maintaining the operation of the six realms of reincarnation.

Of course, just like the imperial court in the human world.

Maybe it doesn’t matter whether there is one or not.

At least the guys in charge wouldn't be any worse off without them.

Especially the underworld, because it has existed for too long, there are bound to be many problems, and it is difficult to reverse the situation.

As he stepped into the underworld, Xu Qing's body quickly became thin and shriveled, replaced by a sense of relief in his heart. It was as if his soul was freed from the shackles and was able to truly display its magical powers.

It's an indescribable feeling of relief.

No matter how powerful the physical body is, it is just a physical body. Once it leaves the physical body, the soul will be closer to the Tao. Of course, this is not entirely a good thing.

Xu Qing clearly felt that the speed at which the Dao was assimilating him had suddenly increased dramatically.

This is also called "harmony with the Tao".

The higher the level of cultivation, the closer to the Tao, and the easier it is to lose human nature.

This is a necessity.

Practitioners who are in harmony with the Tao and have mastered the great Dao will inevitably possess extremely terrifying power, which will have a great impact on the world. If human nature is not eliminated, many problems will arise in the world.

Just like an emperor in the human world, the more powerful he is, the more lonely he is.

But as a human being, how can we give up the seven emotions?

The highest state of forgetting emotions means not being burdened by emotions, not completely cutting off emotions and being sexual.

To be in harmony with the Tao does not necessarily mean to cut off all emotions and nature in order to succeed.

Given Xu Qing’s current state of mind, his thoughts on “harmony with the Dao” are naturally not so extreme.

He even felt that benevolence and compassion were also manifestations of Tao.

Heaven and earth regard unkindness as the greatest benevolence.

The birth of life is the greatest gift of Tao to the universe.

Without all living things, what is the meaning of Tao?
Xu Qing's soul quickly went from being careless to being solid.

In the human world, his soul is wrapped in the flesh, while in the underworld, it is the opposite, with the soul wrapping the body.

It's a completely different experience.

Soon, Xu Qing came to a stone bridge. He knew very well that only by stepping onto the stone bridge and entering either side of the bridge could he truly enter the underworld, otherwise he could only wander around in the underworld.

As soon as he stepped onto the stone bridge, an invisible force came from under his feet, trying to drag him into the river.

He activated his spiritual power, and a faint halo appeared around him to resist this force. With every step he took, the stone bridge under his feet made a "creaking" sound, as if it would collapse at any time.

Seeing this, the ghosts in the river rushed towards him, stretching out their skinny arms, trying to pull him into the bloody abyss.

Xu Qing looked calm. He made a gesture with his hands and a golden light shot out from his fingertips, dispelling the approaching ghosts.

Afterwards, the power of the soul surged out like a raging tide, and all kinds of magical powers were displayed more vividly.

Maybe it's a moment, maybe it's five hundred years.

...

...

After crossing the Naihe Bridge, the scene in Xu Qing's eyes changed.

In front of us is a city named "Impermanence".

Shouldn’t the city in the underworld be called “The City of the Dead”?

But impermanence is actually more appropriate than unjust death.

Fate is unpredictable, which is a closer description of death.

Even if one achieves immortality, death can happen in a moment.

Death often comes unexpectedly, leaving the living with a long, damp life for the rest of their lives.

Xu Qing stepped into Wuchang City.

Because his soul wrapped around his body, he was more like a ghost, to be more precise, and appeared to be very advanced.

This city is not as prosperous as most cities in the world of the living, but it is exceptionally orderly.

Maybe it’s because there are ghosts living there, it’s surprisingly “clean”.

Cleanliness is from the perspective of a “living person”.

Because there isn't so much filth.

To be honest, if big cities in the world do not have strong administrative bodies, they are bound to be dirty and messy.

In modern times, when Xu Qing was alive, the environment in some cities in some countries was even worse than the hell in the novels.

Human beings live worse than ghosts.

Bad times are always like this, forcing people to become devils.

On the other hand, in the Wuchang City in front of Xu Qing, there are also entertainment venues in the Yang world, with everything from eating, drinking and having fun. They are even free.

This is not a ghost town at all, it's clearly paradise.

Wuchang City has almost everything that one would expect from the human world, except for one thing: oppression.

At least not on the surface.

If a similar phenomenon occurs in this city, a magic sword called "Impermanence" by ghosts will appear and destroy the oppressors.

This is called there is a god above your head.

As for how to determine what constitutes "oppression".

It turns out that they are not simply acting in accordance with the law, but are acting with a "ghostly mind".

To be precise, it is actually a consensus.

If most people feel that there is an unfair phenomenon, this phenomenon will be eliminated by "impermanence". The problem is that the way of heaven does not judge the few by the many, nor does it judge the many by the few.

People often have pure goodness or pure evil.

The same is true in this ghost town.

So gradually, a "consensus" was formed in Wuchang City, that is, there must be no different opinions.

Therefore, it is clearly an impermanent city similar to the cities in the world of the living. It has nothing in it, but it exudes a sense of death.

Even though Xu Qing's spiritual aura was very different from that of other ghosts, it was particularly conspicuous.

When the ghosts saw this, they weren't surprised or shocked at all, they just minded their own business.

Because when interacting with other ghosts, friction is always inevitable.

Just as there are rivers and lakes wherever there are people, the same is true wherever there are ghosts.

Wherever there is a world, there will be fighting.

Where there is conflict, there is injustice.

If you win, you may be eliminated; if you lose, you may be killed.

ghost……

He will also die.

In the ghost's perception, this kind of death is complete death, without even the chance of an afterlife.

In fact, all ghosts are grateful for the existence of the underworld. Without the underworld, ghosts will quickly dissipate and have no consciousness.

Xu Qing wandered around Wuchang City.

This place is indeed good, but Xu Qing just feels uncomfortable.

It is even a real dead city.

Because all ghosts live like puppets.

They dare not make mistakes, dare not do anything out of line, and even refuse to interact with other ghosts. They are just like zombies.

Of course, it’s not that bad.

At least they still have other ways to entertain themselves, as long as they don't come into contact with other ghosts.

So whenever Xu Qing wanted to contact a ghost, he would be rejected by the ghost and even show instinctive fear.

Xu Qing's knowledge of Wuchang City mostly comes from various books.

Yes, there are many books here, and they record many things about Wuchang City.

So Xu Qing also knew that Wuchang City was not like this at the beginning, but gradually became what it is now.

From the excitement in the beginning, to the ghosts harming each other in the middle period, to the current situation where the sounds of chickens and dogs can be heard from each other, they have never interacted with each other until they die.

This is simply the ideal world of the Tao Te Ching.

But, it’s so uncomfortable!

It would be good if there was internet, at least I could have passionate conversations with people.

Well, the Internet is not a lawless place!

Controlling the sky, the earth, and the air, that is an old tradition of Hinduism!

Xu Qing also got a piece of information from the books of Wuchang City that many ghosts had left Wuchang City, some did not come back, and some came back.

Without exception, none of the ghosts that came back wanted to leave again.

In addition, there is a reincarnation pond in Wuchang City.

This is a fast track into samsara.

But after entering the reincarnation pool, one will lose the memory of this life, which is equivalent to a complete rebirth.

Whether this is considered a kind of death is hard to say.

And after we get out, will the world of the living be better than the current Wuchang City?
That depends on luck and hoping you don't reincarnate as an ox or a horse.

Everyone knows that in this world there are more cattle and horses than masters.

Who has a better life, the ghosts in the underworld city of Wuchang or the cows and horses in the world of the living?
Anyway, anyone who has worked as a slave knows that as long as you are willing to endure hardship, there will be endless hardship to endure.

I can’t say how happy I am in Wuchang City, but at least I don’t have to suffer under someone’s thumb!

So even though Wuchang City is dead and lifeless, many ghosts are still reluctant to leave.

Of course, it is not so easy to enter Wuchang City.

If a ghost who was extremely evil in his lifetime wants to come in, he must first walk a distance. This distance is a concentrated embodiment of the sufferings of the three paths. If he can walk through it, and if he is lucky enough, he can worship an immortal and become an immortal.

With this kind of willpower, you can accomplish anything. There is no need to come to Wuchang City.

However, Xu Qing felt that even extremely evil people could survive in the normal City of the Dead in the underworld.

There is no difference between the world in the underworld and the world in the world of the living.

It is indeed easier for evil people to get along better.

Of course, bad guys also like good guys.

This does not prevent the fact that in the eyes of evil people, everyone is a bad person.

While Xu Qing was strolling in Wuchang City, he thought of a question.

Even if he established a heaven where good and evil were rewarded and justice was served and the universe was selfless, would it definitely be able to do better than Wuchang City?
Is there any essential difference between heaven and the imperial court?
As long as those who exercise public power have selfish motives, no matter how perfect the system is, it cannot be fair.

For a moment, Xu Qing even felt a little discouraged.

So is it necessary to establish this heaven?

There is no doubt that Wuchang City is a living example.

At best, that's all.

Moreover, the resources of Wuchang City are limited, which is why there are restrictions on entry.

Even so, the ghosts here are not truly happy.

Because they have their own desires, but are restricted by the form of the Impermanence City and cannot be truly satisfied.

Facts have proved that material happiness has its limits. As all living creatures, even ghosts, never tire of oppressing others.

They just don't want to be the oppressed themselves.

Even an ordinary family in the human world is like a miniature version of real society, full of obedience tests.

The ruler is the ruler, the minister is the minister, the father is the father, the son is the son. This is not something that came about after Confucianism proposed it. In essence, it is still a true summary of the order of the world.

Isn’t this kind of thinking also a consensus?

It’s just that after the order collapses, another kind of thinking is needed to replace it.

After all, the original road is no longer accessible.

People don't like to repeat the same mistakes.

But human history always repeats itself.

So what's wrong?
The mistake is that there shouldn’t be heaven and earth, and there shouldn’t be any living things?
Xu Qing suddenly realized that he was trapped in Wuchang City.

This place seems to be the world closest to the ideal world, but it is still not good enough and not satisfactory enough.

Xu Qing even forgot his original intention of coming to the underworld.

He didn't even plan to leave the City of Impermanence.

Because you can walk out of the city of impermanence, you cannot walk out of the human world, you cannot walk out of this real and painful world.

When he was in Mount Shaoshi, he thought he had attained enlightenment.

As for now, he deeply understood that he was far from enlightenment.

Xu Qing fell into deep thought.

But he didn't notice.

In the tallest restaurant in Wuchang City, there was a pair of eyes watching him.

The owner of the sight turned out to be a thin black magical dog.

It quickly turned its gaze away from Xu Qing and looked up at the sky, where a red moon was slowly rising. The thin black divine dog's eyes became manic and restless.
