Chapter 595: Getting Praise
As the family atmosphere gradually warmed up, the relationship between Liang Lu and Qi Tongwei also entered a new stage. One night, when the children had fallen asleep, Liang Lu and Qi Tongwei sat on the sofa in the living room, with the light shining softly on them.
Liang Lu sighed softly and broke the silence first: "Tongwei, I have seen the changes in you during this period, but there are some things I still want to talk to you about. You know, I am a teacher in school, and I face the education problems of a group of children every day. I know that education is not a simple matter."
Qi Tongwei nodded slightly and looked at Liang Lu intently: "I know I was wrong before, and now I am trying to learn how to be a good father. You can tell me what you think."
Liang Lu sat up straight, her eyes becoming serious. "Take the children's studies for example. Xiaowei is a little behind in math. The teacher even told me today to ask parents to pay more attention to him. What do you think we should do?"
Qi Tongwei frowned: "Can I find time to tutor him, or hire a tutor?"
Liang Lu shook her head and said, "Hiring a tutor is not a long-term solution. We need to understand the child's problem first. I think his learning method is wrong, but you always used those tough methods before. I'm afraid it will make him more resistant to learning."
Qi Tongwei was a little unconvinced: "I did that just to make him understand some principles earlier. I don't want him to suffer in the future. What's wrong with strict requirements for learning?"
Liang Lu raised her voice: "Do you mean beating and scolding when you are strict? You don't understand the psychology of children at all. In education, you have to proceed step by step and guide them according to their characteristics. You can't do whatever you want."
Qi Tongwei was silent for a while, then slowly said: "I admit that my previous approach was wrong, but you can't just blame me. I work hard outside for this family, and I also hope that my children can have a good future."
Liang Lu looked at him with a hint of understanding in her eyes, but her tone was still firm: "I know you work hard, but family and children's education are equally important. Just like Xiaowei's math, I think we can help him develop a study plan together and encourage him more instead of just looking at his grades."
Qi Tongwei thought for a moment and nodded: "Okay, you have a point. Then let's take a look at Xiaowei's textbooks and find out where he is weak."
So, the two began to look through Xiaowei's math textbooks and homework. Liang Lu pointed out Xiaowei's misunderstandings of some concepts while Qi Tongwei listened carefully and raised his own questions from time to time.
"You see, Xiaowei always makes mistakes when doing calculations on fractions. It may be that he doesn't have a clear enough concept of denominator and numerator." Liang Lu said.
Qi Tongwei leaned over to take a look and said, "Then we can find some real objects to demonstrate to him, such as dividing an apple into several pieces, so that he can understand it more intuitively."
Liang Lu's eyes flashed with approval: "This is a good idea. Also, my eldest son needs to improve his writing skills. His expressions are always not vivid enough."
Qi Tongwei smiled and said, "You are a teacher in this area, so you must have more experience. I can take him out more often so that he can have more material to write about."
Liang Lu also smiled: "That's good, but I still need to teach him writing skills. We need to cooperate well and not stick to our own opinions like before."
In the days that followed, Qi Tongwei and Liang Lu continued to communicate and work together on the issue of their children's education. They would argue because of disagreements, but they would also understand and compromise with each other after calming down.
Once, the school organized a parent-child activity, requiring parents and children to complete a small scientific experiment together and write a report. Qi Tongwei and Xiaowei were responsible for the experiment, while Liang Lu guided them on how to record and write reports. During the experiment, Xiaowei accidentally knocked over the reagent. Qi Tongwei was about to blame him, but after seeing Liang Lu's eyes, he immediately changed his tone: "Xiaowei, it's okay, we can do it again, be careful next time." Xiaowei looked at his father gratefully and nodded.
When writing the report, Qi Tongwei put forward some of his own ideas, and Liang Lu also carefully considered and adopted the reasonable parts. In the end, their work was well received in the parent-child activity.
As the children grew up, new problems emerged. The eldest son began to have his own ideas about his future career plan. He wanted to be a painter, but Qi Tongwei was worried that this career was unstable and hoped that he would choose a more traditional industry. As a result, a new debate broke out in the family.
"What future does painting have? How can I support myself in the future?" Qi Tongwei said with a frown.
The eldest son said unconvincedly: "I like painting, and I will work hard to become an excellent painter."
Liang Lu said, "Tongwei, it's a good thing for a child to have his own dream. We should support him. Of course, we can also give him some advice so that he can understand this profession more comprehensively."
Qi Tongwei thought for a moment and said, "Well, we can help you find some professional painting teachers so that you can learn systematically, but you have to promise us that you won't delay the study of other subjects."
The eldest son jumped up happily: "Thank you, Mom and Dad!"
In such bumps and bruises, Qi Tongwei and Liang Lu continued to grow. They learned to respect each other's opinions in the family, understand each other's difficulties, and know how to love and educate their children.
I thought life would flow slowly in this interweaving of stumbling and reconciliation, but I didn't expect that the waves of fate would suddenly rise and drag the family into a deeper vortex.
It was a rainy night, with heavy raindrops hitting the windows, as if they were going to break through the glass and rush into the house. Qi Tongwei and Liang Lu rushed to the hospital with their sick eldest son in their arms. In a panic, they left their youngest son at home, thinking that they would only be away for a short time, but they did not expect that this decision would push them into a more difficult situation.
In the hospital, the pungent smell of disinfectant filled the air. The eldest son was lying on the bed, his face flushed with fever and his breath weak. Qi Tongwei was guarding the bedside, his brows furrowed, his eyes full of worry and fatigue. Liang Lu paced back and forth, looking at her son on the bed from time to time, anxious.
"It's all your fault. You had to argue with your son about career planning at this time and made him sick!" Liang Lu couldn't help but complain, her voice trembling slightly.
Qi Tongwei was already upset, and when he heard Liang Lu's accusation, his anger suddenly rose up: "How can you put all the blame on me? I am doing this for his own good. I want him to have a stable future!"
