Chapter 613 Wang Jianguo Pleads for Mercy

When I opened the door, I saw the vice president sitting in front of a spacious desk piled with thick medical records.

He was wearing a pair of black-framed glasses and was marking on a medical record with focused eyes. The pen in his hand made a rustling sound from time to time.

Hearing the noise, the vice president looked up and saw Wang Jianguo and Grandma Dong. A trace of surprise flashed in his eyes, and then he quickly stood up and greeted them with a smile on his face:

"Auntie Dong, please take a seat. What's going on? Is there something wrong with Secretary Dong?"

Wang Jianguo helped Grandma Dong sit carefully on the chair beside her, and stood aside, bowed slightly, and said with an attitude so sincere that it was almost pious:

"Vice President, I'm sorry to bother you with your busy work. Secretary Dong can't stay in the ward any longer."

"He kept telling us that he felt he was almost well, but there was a lot of stuff at home waiting for him to take care of, and he was anxious to go home."

"We also know that the hospital has kept him for observation for his own good, but you also know his stubborn temper. Once he makes up his mind, no one can change his mind."

As he spoke, Wang Jianguo gave a helpless smile, and the expression on his face seemed to say, "This is really a headache."

The vice president frowned slightly, took off his glasses, rubbed his temples gently with his hands, and sighed softly:

"I know Secretary Dong's physical condition very well. Although his condition has been temporarily stabilized, his foundation is still not solid."

"It does require a period of continuous observation and careful nursing. If you leave the hospital rashly and the disease recurs, it will be a big problem."

Wang Jianguo quickly took over the conversation and took a small step forward, his eyes full of urgency and pleading:

"Deputy Dean, we all understand your painstaking efforts, so we came here today to ask you if you could make some concessions."

Grandma Dong also nodded and agreed eagerly:

"Yes, Vice President, don't worry. I know my old man's temper best. I will definitely supervise him strictly."

"I watch him take his medicine and rest every day. If he doesn't obey, I'll get angry with him. Please, for our sincerity, help him this time."

As Grandma Dong spoke, she gestured with her hands, her eyes full of worry for her husband and expectations for the vice president, as if she wanted to convey all her thoughts to the vice president.

The vice president put on his glasses again and looked carefully at Wang Jianguo and Grandma Dong's faces.

Seeing their sincerity and determination in their eyes, he hesitated for a moment and finally nodded slowly:

"Okay, since you all said so, I have a few requests. If you follow them strictly, I will agree to discharge Uncle Dong from the hospital."

"No matter if it's windy or rainy, he will wait for me to come to his home on time to personally measure Secretary Dong's blood pressure."

"If you find anything wrong with his body, follow my instructions immediately and send him back to the hospital without delay."

"Also, Auntie, you should urge Uncle Dong to rest well at home. Don't let him do any work. Make sure he doesn't get tired and works hard to take care of his health."

"This is a matter of great importance to your uncle's health. You must not be careless. If something happens to your daughter, I will be hard-pressed to explain."

The vice president spoke with great conviction, and every word he said seemed to carry a tremendous amount of weight, leaving no room for doubt about his determination.

Upon hearing this, Wang Jianguo and Grandma Dong's faces suddenly broke into ecstatic smiles, and that smile seemed to be able to dispel all the haze in the ward corridor.

Wang Jianguo quickly bowed and thanked him:

"Thank you so much, Vice President. Don't worry, we will do what we say and will never let you down."

Grandma Dong was so excited that her eyes were red. She wiped the tears from her eyes with her hands and said with a sob:

"Thank you, Vice President. Now I can finally go home. Thank you so much."

After Wang Jianguo accompanied Grandma Dong out of the vice president's office, he finally felt relieved.

While supporting Grandma Dong, he secretly thought that he had to quickly tell Secretary Huang the news that Secretary Dong would be discharged from the hospital soon so that he could send a car to pick him up.

After thinking about it, he saw that the door of the vice president's office was half-open, so he discussed with Grandma Dong:

"Grandma Dong, I'm going to use the vice president's office phone to call Secretary Huang and tell him that Secretary Dong has been discharged. Please go back to the ward and I'll be there soon."

Grandma Dong's wrinkled face was filled with smiles, and she nodded repeatedly in response:

"Okay, Jianguo, hurry up. I'll go back to the ward and tell the old man the good news."

Wang Jianguo gently pushed open the door of the vice president's office. Seeing that the vice president was busy writing something on the medical record, he spoke apologetically:

"Vice President, I'm so sorry to bother you again. I would like to use your office phone to call Secretary Huang and tell him that Secretary Dong is going to be discharged from the hospital."

The vice president raised his head, smiled gently, and raised his hand to signal him to do as he pleased. Wang Jianguo walked quickly to the desk and dialed Secretary Huang's number skillfully. The moment the call was connected, he hurriedly said:

"Secretary Huang, I'm Wang Jianguo. I have good news for you. Secretary Dong will be discharged from the hospital soon! The vice president just agreed. Please make arrangements and send a car to pick him up."

Secretary Huang on the other end of the phone was obviously delighted, and his voice became several pitches higher:

"That's great, Comrade Jianguo! I'll start preparing right away and rush to the hospital to help."

At the same time, Grandma Dong, with a heart full of joy, walked towards the ward step by step with her steps much lighter than usual.

When she opened the door, she saw Secretary Dong half leaning against the bed, his eyes showing some anxiety and expectation. Grandma Dong deliberately kept it a secret, walked slowly to the bedside and sat down, then spoke happily:

"Old man, I have good news for you. You can be discharged from the hospital!"

Secretary Dong was stunned at first, then his eyes widened and a long-lost smile bloomed on his face:

"Really? Old woman, don't tease me."

Grandma Dong pretended to be angry and said:

"When have I ever lied to you? Jianguo just successfully pleaded with the vice president, and the vice president agreed."

Secretary Dong nodded excitedly:

"Okay, okay, that's great."

Not long after, Secretary Huang rushed to the hospital.

He was wearing a neat Zhongshan suit and had his hair combed meticulously. He went straight to Secretary Dong's bedside when he entered the ward and said with a smile on his face:

"Secretary Dong, we've finally seen you discharged from the hospital. We've all been missing you!"

Secretary Dong smiled and waved his hand:

"Thank you for the trip, Secretary Huang."

Wang Jianguo and Grandma Dong had already started packing up, and Secretary Huang quickly joined in.
