Chapter 687: Heart Sutra, Shaking the Soul

The voice of Guanyin Bodhisattva is soft and pleasant, and every word she utters is like a wake-up call, containing the way to liberation that cleanses the soul.

When it comes to the ability to use words to persuade people and convert evil spirits, Guanyin Bodhisattva is the best among the Bodhisattvas. Even a few ordinary words uttered by her sound extremely credible.

It was as if these unfortunate fairies who had fallen into the devil's trap could, if they just turned back, immediately escape from the sea of suffering and return to the carefree and perfect life of their past lives as celestial beings.

Generally speaking, there are two ways to redeem demons in Western religions. One is physical salvation, and the other is spiritual influence.

In people's stereotype, Western religions prefer to use spiritual persuasion to convert demons. For example, there is a famous legend about the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara. In order to convert a bloodthirsty king, she transformed herself into a goddess of good fortune and served the demon, and finally converted the demon king.

But in fact, what is counterintuitive is that in the ancient world, Western religions have always used force before ritual. If physical salvation is effective, there is no such thing as spiritual influence.

During the Conferred Gods War, among the disciples of the Jiejiao who converted to the Western religion, except for the traitor Chang'er Dingguangxian, none of them were persuaded to convert. They were all beaten up without a second thought, beaten half to death, dragged back and locked up, and tortured until their edges were smoothed out, and then forced to surrender.

The same thing happened later when the monkey was subdued and converted. The tight hoop was said to be a spell to temper one's mind, but in fact it was just a torture device, similar to the head-crushing machine used in ancient Europe to deal with pagans.

The golden hoop is just a beautification. If you replace it with a flowering pear stuffed into the monkey's butt, it will bloom when you recite the flowering spell, and the monkey will surrender just the same, or maybe even faster.

Therefore, physical salvation is the normal way to achieve salvation. Once the method of spiritual salvation and influence is used, it is inevitable that the opponent cannot be defeated or killed, and the only option is to settle for the next best thing.

This is the current situation. Guanyin Bodhisattva wants to eliminate several witches physically, but has no suitable means for the time being. Therefore, she uses her spiritual cultivation and the Heart Sutra as a guide to shake the souls and try to awaken the true hearts of several fairies.

"When Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva was practicing the profound Prajnaparamita, he saw that the five aggregates were empty and was able to overcome all suffering. Shariputra."

The mantra was chanted, and the clear Buddhist sound swept past, spreading continuously with Guanyin Bodhisattva as the center, causing ripples on the surface of the sea of blood below it.

The Buddhist sound swept across all the soldiers of the coalition forces. No matter whether they were the Buddhist monks, disciples of the Western religion, or the heavenly soldiers and generals, they all felt a sense of peace in their hearts. The dejected looks on the faces of the several generals who had just been defeated were much less.

After hearing the mantra, the five witches all reacted. Their eyes gradually became blurred and confused, as if the self-consciousness trapped in the demonized skin, through thousands of obstacles, at the bottom of the abyss, they glimpsed a ray of sunlight shining in from the outside world.

"…The mind is free from obstructions. Because it is free from obstructions, it is free from fear. It is far away from upside-down dreams and finally attains Nirvana."

Seeing that the method of attacking the mind was effective, Guanyin Bodhisattva put her hands together, and a circle of Buddha light like a bright moon appeared above her head. She lowered her eyes and chanted a mantra in a low voice. Her mental power was dispersed to the extreme, and the lotus platform under her feet extended infinitely, spreading out a mandala formation pattern that covered the sea of blood.

Wen Rui, who was watching the scene from afar at the information center, saw this scene through the camera captured by a drone and was amazed at the powerful spiritual power displayed by the Bodhisattva.

Wen Rui still remembers that in the mandala of consciousness of Dingguang Huanxi Bodhisattva, he also experienced the power of the Bodhisattva's spiritual enlightenment. If he had not gone through countless hell experiences and his soul had been tempered and hardened, he would have repented in the face of such a powerful mental illusion.

Guanyin Bodhisattva's response was just right, fully demonstrating that this Bodhisattva is indeed wise.

Several witches were once fairies, but they were bewitched by the devil, tortured and trained, and then they became demons. Since they were forced, their greatest wish in their hearts must be to be redeemed and to escape from the endless sea of suffering as soon as possible.

The Heart Sutra awakens their inner selves, strengthens their faith in resistance and struggle, and perhaps it can even turn them over in the face of battle.

In many scenes where good people are controlled by the devil and become his minions, don’t the protagonists finally rely on talking to awaken their former loved ones and friends, and ultimately destroy the devil with the help of their awakened relatives and friends?

The Heart Sutra is not long. Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva quickly recited to the most critical part, and his mental strength was raised to the extreme. He recited the mantra: "Gate gate, paragate, parasamgate, bodhi svaha."

This Sanskrit phrase means: Go! Go! Go to the other side of life and death! Go to the other side of life and death with all sentient beings! May we all quickly attain enlightenment and great accomplishment!
This mantra has the extraordinary power to awaken sinful souls. When it was uttered, a dazzling golden light bloomed from the Buddha's Light Wheel of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva and illuminated the ugly and twisted demonic bodies of the five witches.

The Moth Witch, Centipede Witch, Mantis Witch and Jellyfish Witch all had looks of pain on their faces, covering their heads and shaking. A translucent white soul afterimage was shaken away from the body by the truth.

The scene was as if every witch was hit by Master Ancient One's Soul-Pushing Palm.

Although the appearance of the soul's residual image was blurry, it could be roughly seen that it was the four sisters among the seven fairies who had disappeared.

Several residual images of souls seemed to have just woken up from a dream, looking around with horror and disbelief, and for a moment they seemed to have no idea why they appeared in the sea of blood where blood was raining profusely.

The witch's body, whose soul had been shaken out of its body, was like a puppet whose strings had been cut, or a robot whose batteries had run out. Her head drooped, her limbs drooped naturally, the light in her eyes dimmed, and there was no life left.

"As expected of you, Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, you have unparalleled wisdom and insight! It turns out that those demons cannot be killed by ordinary methods. It's not that we are incompetent, but we used the wrong method to subdue the demons."

Jin Zha was filled with praise and bowed with his hands clasped together. Mu Zha also chanted "Amitabha" and expressed his great admiration for his master's methods of subduing demons.

Only Yang Jian was still unhappy. Yang Jian practiced the Eight-Nine Mysterious Arts, taking the path of proving the truth with force. This practice method emphasizes defeating everything with fists, and if one punch can't solve the problem, then use two punches.

In the past, he was so strong that bricks could fly, and the Eight-Nine Mysterious Skills could defeat everything.

It was not until today that Yang Jian realized that there are opponents in this world that cannot be defeated by sheer force. His unstable heart of Taoism became increasingly shaken, and his sense of frustration was even greater than when he was scared away by Kong Xuan's five-colored divine light.

Yang Jian still had an excuse for being defeated by Kong Xuan, because at that time, the Eight-Nine Profound Art had not yet been perfected. If it had been perfected, even if he was hit by the divine light, he would have been able to break free from the restraints and capture Kong Xuan like the Taoist Zhunti.

Today, however, I have been deeply educated and realized that physical sanctification is only a minor aspect, and that the state of mind and spiritual cultivation are equally important. My confidence in proving the truth through physical force has inevitably been hit hard.

The soldiers of the Allied Forces were also delighted, and cheers broke out among the troops on the shore.

But the Bodhisattva Guanyin had a gloomy expression and was feeling awe in her heart. Four of the five witches were so shocked by the mantra that they were about to be successfully liberated. However, the purple butterfly witch was not affected at all. This was not a good sign.
