Chapter 807 Threats and Intimidation
Luke pulled Lena out of the bar and the two of them strolled through the quiet streets of the small town.
Luke didn't ask Lena anything.
Lena calmed down and started talking to Luke.
"I thought it was some kind of special emotion at first, and I tried to have a relationship."
"But I can never forget your presence in my heart."
"I can't forget the tall figure who, in the jungle, reduced the enemy to ashes while chatting and laughing."
Luke grinned.
"Do you think too highly of me? I didn't know I was so handsome."
Lena looked at Luke and gave him a mysterious smile.
"Don't act in front of me, Luke. I'm the president's daughter. I've seen those classified documents."
"I am no longer the naive person I used to be."
"Every day and night I think of you, I frantically search for your traces, including your past..."
Luke put away his smile and his expression remained calm, but he looked up at the sky.
Seeing Luke remained silent, Lena said more confidently:
"I know, Luke, I know you're not human..."
Luke: Why am I not a human being...
Lena: "Well, I mean, you're not a normal person."
Lena looked at Luke with admiration.
"You are mysterious, powerful, and handsome. I can't forget you no matter how hard I try..."
Luke smiled bitterly and shook his head. Just as he was about to speak, his expression suddenly froze.
But it returned to normal soon.
Lena didn't notice this fleeting change.
Before she could finish her sentence, she fell into Luke's arms again.
Luke quietly took out his cell phone, sent a message, and patted Lena on the back.
"Now that you know my identity and my job, you should know that I cannot stand under the spotlight."
Lena was in Luke's arms, greedy for his scent and unwilling to let go.
"It doesn't matter. My father doesn't plan to run for re-election. There's still more than a year left, and no one will pay attention to me anymore."
Luke shook his head.
"No, you don't understand those media. They won't let you go if you are beautiful, kind and have status."
Lena looked up at Luke.
"Then we can go abroad on a date, or even live together."
Luke still shook his head.
"Since you have investigated me, you should know that I have many ex-girlfriends."
Lena looked at Luke and said gently:
"No, I don't care. I just want to spend the best time of my life with you."
Luke shook his head and separated the two.
"Come on, I'll take you back."
Lena knew when to quit.
Luke didn't agree, but he didn't refuse either.
Now that she has caught Luke's tail, Lena naturally wants to have more contact with Luke and change his impression of her.
I've waited for so many years, it's not about this moment.
All the way back, Lena kept talking about some interesting things about the White House and the most interesting philanthropic stories in recent years.
Not far from the hotel, Luke stopped.
The two of them were like a couple on their first date, still keeping a little distance from each other.
Lena didn't push her further and said goodbye to Luke with a smile.
He also wrote his phone number on the back of Luke's hand.
"This is a private call, and few people know about it."
Luke sighed, but nodded slightly, and watched Lena walk into the hotel.
When the two of them arrived near the hotel, Luke noticed the presence of Secret Service agents.
The two of them didn't do anything excessive. After waving goodbye, Luke turned and went to the town police station.
Jonathan and Bourne greeted Luke.
"This guy is a journalist. All the photos are on this memory card. There is no network equipment."
Luke took the camera memory card that Jonathan handed over and put it in his pocket.
Bourne also said:
"We briefly interrogated him. It wasn't someone who instructed him to do so. He just wanted to make a big news."
Luke took the certificate handed to him by Bourne.
"Eddie Brock? The San Francisco Chronicle?"
Jonathan nodded and said:
"Yes, we checked with the newspaper and there is indeed a reporter for Eddie Brock."
"The data center has verified that he is Eddie Brock, and the photo matches the one in the San Francisco Chronicle database."
Luke nodded.
Just now, when he and Lena were on their way to the hotel, he felt someone approaching them and taking pictures of him and Lena.
He didn't say it at the time, but texted it to Jonathan.
This place is not far from the bar, and Jonathan is a small town policeman, so he has reason to detain the person who took the voyeuristic photos.
After receiving the news, Jonathan and Bourne arrested the man.
It wasn't until Luke sent Lena back that he rushed to the town police station.
Since he was just a reporter, Luke didn't want to get involved.
To Jonathan:
"Since it was an accident, just warn him and let him go."
Bourne smiled and continued:
"Let me do it. I'm good at this."
Luke patted Jonathan and said:
"Thanks, guys. I'll buy you a drink later."
Jonathan and Bourne looked at each other and smiled a smile that all men understand.
Jonathan even went out of his way to shake Luke's hand.
Then the two went to the interrogation room.
He was left holding a square plastic-wrapped rubber product with a confused look on his face.
When did I ever use this?
Luke had no choice but to leave the town police station.
Jonathan and Bourne returned to the interrogation room with serious faces.
Eddie Brock, who was sitting in the interrogation chair, yelled when he saw Jonathan.
"Hey, I'm a legitimate journalist, and if you do this to me, I need a lawyer."
Jonathan didn't say anything. He was still wearing his small town police uniform.
However, Bourne, who was in casual clothes, smiled and nodded to Jonathan.
Jonathan responded to Bourne and nodded, then looked at Eddie with sympathy and left the interrogation room.
As a reporter, Eddie is not stupid.
A plain-clothed man in the interrogation room nodded to the police and let them go.
Generally, this is against the rules.
Obviously, Bourne's identity is of great importance.
Sure enough, Bourne sat opposite Eddie and said to him with a smile:
"You don't need to care who I am. This is a state secret."
"We can pretend that nothing happened tonight and let you go. But..."
“You can photograph the president, even the president’s daughter, the president’s wife, but you can’t photograph the man.”
Eddie was indeed shocked by Bourne's seemingly mysterious operation.
For a moment, Eddie had nothing to say.
He wanted to ask, but the other party obviously wouldn't tell him.
It’s okay to take pictures of the president, but not that man.
Who is this man? What is his relationship with the president's daughter?
Eddie's CPU is running at high speed.
Bourne was not in a hurry and just watched Eddie imagine things crazily.
The more you talk, the easier it is to make mistakes.
The fewer words, the more information you can convey.
After a long time, Eddie Brock nodded in agreement.
Bourne knew that these people were stubborn and always wanted to make big news.
So, in the end, I warned Eddie.
"Here's a piece of advice for you. Find other news. Otherwise, think about your family and friends."
This naked threat really shook Eddie.
