Chapter 957: Go Out and Have Fun

Chapter 957: Go Out and Have Fun
"What do you mean? What do you mean? Ah Shui, what is coming to fulfill a wish and what is coming due to karma?"

Xu Zishuai poked Liang Qu's back with his index finger again.

He doesn't understand, but he's not stupid.

Anyone with a discerning eye could see the expressions of the people around them; even the monk who was in charge of the Buddhist records became much more serious.

This question is definitely not simple.

Long Eying and Long Binglin approached, and all the disciples gathered around them.

Liang Qu scratched his temples, he whispered, he never thought that a half-baked person like him would be able to help people understand Buddhism one day.

"Coming here to fulfill a wish means that the old monk was a master in his previous life, a bodhisattva, and an arhat. He reincarnated to fulfill the wishes of all living beings, and re-cultivated in this life. Therefore, he returned to his original position step by step, just like Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, who made a wish.

Coming due to karma means that the old monk was originally an ordinary person, who appeared in the world due to various karmas. Because of various karmas, he finally became enlightened and became an Arhat.

Simply put, Taoist Ge is asking whether the master's cultivation in this life is destined or the result of various coincidences. "

Everyone's eyes lit up.

"Master Ge is really amazing. He asked the questions that really hit the nail on the head." Xu Zishuai exclaimed.

The reason you come to listen to the sutras is to learn how to be as awesome as the old monk.

One day in the future, will there still be tens of thousands of people sitting down and listening to me brag?

Taoist Ge kept talking.

"If they came here to fulfill their wishes, why don't they keep their bodies and minds together? Wouldn't it be a waste if they need to reincarnate and cultivate again? If they came here because of karma, do Buddhist arhats still have karma entangled in their golden bodies?"

The monks all stretched their necks.

The old monk turned the Buddhist beads: "Donor Ge asked a wonderful question."

"King Hou Ming has a wonderful solution."

All the monks straightened their backs.

"I don't know if it's because of my wish or because of my karma." The old monk got straight to the point, not waiting for the audience to be surprised, "According to the Buddhists, I came because of my wish. I don't think so. Just as what donor Ge said, if I came because of my wish, why should I start all over again? In fact, only by starting all over again can people accept me."

"Why?"

"Just like the Buddha, who needs a father and a mother to be close to the people around him and to convert them, if the Buddha wants to convert a pig, he will not transform into a dog and talk to the pig. Therefore, in order to convert people, he transforms into a human, from a child to a young man, and then to a husband. So, if I can do it, you can do it too..."

Liang Qu felt his back being poked again.

The people around him looked at him again.

I can’t understand it again.

Liang Qu thought for a moment and said: "It means 'all phenomena are like dreams, illusions, bubbles, and shadows; like dew and lightning, they should be viewed in this way'. This is from the Diamond Sutra, which means that everything is an illusion, an appearance.

The Buddha became a human in order to save people, and he experienced the cycle of life and death like a human. If he became a pig and a pig talked to you about enlightenment, you would find it absurd and be alert.

Taoist Master Ge asked an irrelevant question, and the old monk answered it using the content of the Diamond Sutra he had just talked about.

Very clever.

"It feels great..." Cao Rang rubbed his chin.

"Of course it's amazing."

Liang Qu saw with his own eyes that all the monks in the Hanging Temple relaxed, and it was obvious that this answer was in line with the "correctness of Buddhism."

But the old monk is definitely not a person who is always right.

After citing several examples to prove the correctness and rationality of wish-fulfilling wishes, the old monk changed the subject.

"The Avatamsaka Sutra says: 'Forgetting the Bodhicitta and practicing good deeds is called the work of the devil.'

Zen Buddhism also says: "Carrying water and chopping wood are nothing but wonderful ways."

I personally think that I came here first because of karma, and then I developed bodhicitta and came here to transform my vows. "

"What does this mean?"

"Everything in this world is a matter of chance and coincidence. Once your heart is firm, everything is destined."

Inside Bodhi Island.

Everyone pondered.

The monks did not seem too nervous, as long as the legitimacy of their coming here to fulfill their wishes was proven by the Ming Wang.

Listen to the lecture and digest it silently.

The old monk pointed at Liang Qu and said, "Do you know the Great Shunxing Yibo?"

Why is it involving me again?

Liang Qu was puzzled.

“No one doesn’t know.”

Someone in the crowd was bold enough to reply.

The old monk smiled and said, "Seven years ago, I traveled to Pingyang County, which had not yet been renamed, and saw dragon tendons and tiger bones. I got a bowl of vegetarian food and wanted to pass on the "Dragon Subduing Tiger Diamond Sutra". Is this a wish or karma? Is it destiny? Is it fate?"

Everyone looked at each other.

"It's fate? Lord Xingyi got lucky and met a noble person?"

"No." Someone retorted, "How many eminent monks are there in Buddhism? How many people practice this method? Pingyang County is a small place. It's just a coincidence. It's destined! There is a big hand!"

There was a lot of noise.

Liang Qu's master was not shy and asked the person involved directly.

"Ashui, what do you think?"

"I don't know."

Liang Qu scratched his head.

"Master." Taoist Ge sought for an answer.

The old monk still did not give a direct answer: "I am a fisherman in the countryside of Huainan, earning ten coins a day, and working hard to make ends meet. How difficult is it for this man to see the Holy Emperor?"

"That's impossible." Taoist Ge laughed.

"Is it difficult to see the local county magistrate?"

"It's possible." Taoist Priest Ge thought for a moment, "Even if he is a corrupt official or a bad official, he will be fired one day."

"Is it difficult for a county magistrate to have a direct voice to the emperor?"

"It's not difficult..."

After three questions in a row, Taoist Ge frowned.

The old monk continued, "One year, the world was at peace, and the Holy Emperor went south of the Yangtze River. On the way, he passed by Lanzhou and saw a fisherman fishing. He had an idea and summoned him to see him. This was fate. The fisherman was determined to see the Holy Emperor, so he killed the county magistrate, skinned him and stuffed him with straw, which shocked the world. He was guilty of a heinous crime and was taken to the imperial capital. He was judged by the Holy Emperor, and this was the awakening of the Bodhi mind. What was a coincidence turned into destiny."

"..."

This example.

It can be said that he is worthy of being called the King of Wisdom.

Everyone's eyes twitched.

"I met Xing Yi Bo at that time because of a coincidence of cause and condition. If I had not met him at that time, I would have gone to see him and taught him the Dharma in the future. This is the awakening of the Bodhicitta, the wish to transform karma into cause.

I have heard people say that meeting a noble person by chance is actually like gold falling on the road. The noble person who picks up the gold will eventually appear. The noble person will change, and the gold will also change from a bracelet to a bracelet, but the essence of it will not change.

Those who are willing.

We didn't see each other then, but we will see each other later.

The unintentional one.

If you didn’t see me then, you won’t see me again later.”

Subjective initiative.

Liang Qu pondered.

As long as you have a firm idea, you can reach the "other shore".

"People are really like six degrees of separation. If you want to see someone, you can always see them..."

"What is six degrees of separation?" asked Xu Zishuai.

"Even if it's you, my brother, there are no more than six people between you and any stranger."

"Six people, how could this happen?" Hu Qi thought it was ridiculous.

"Not necessarily." Yang Xu touched his chin, "Just like what the master said about the fisherman and the emperor, the difference in status is so great, but in fact they are not completely unrelated."

"If you commit a major crime, that's a special case, right?"

"No need for special cases." Yang Xu replied, "The county magistrate is selected through the imperial examination, at least he is a Juren. There must be high-ranking officials in the same batch of candidates, who can directly reach the emperor. There are still several positions between the fisherman and the county magistrate. In fact, a local elder can be put there. It's just that there is no incident to connect them, and people's face is limited."

“Where there is a will, there is a way!” Xiang Changsong slammed his fist into his palm.

Ask a question to clear up your doubts.

Endless aftertaste.

The old monk motioned for Master Ge to continue.

Taoist Master Ge pondered and said, "Can one become a Buddha by keeping the precepts?"

"No, I have heard of the Arhat precepts, the layman precepts, the bhikkhu precepts, and the bodhisattva precepts, but I don't know that the Buddha has precepts. Without the Buddha's precepts, how can one become a Buddha by observing the precepts?"

"When I came to Datong Prefecture, my ship passed through Lizhou. I heard that there were monks in the temple who raped other people's wives and daughters, and had revelry every night. They called it the Buddha of Childbirth. Is this the Buddha?"

The old monk laughed: "Master Ge, are you asking me or yourself?"

Taoist Priest Ge also smiled: "All of them."

"In today's world, those who have become Buddhas and immortals have all ascended to heaven, leaving those who cannot become Buddhas and immortals in the secular world, fighting endlessly in temples... Greed, anger, ignorance, arrogance, and doubt, all five poisons..."

The monks and Taoists looked at each other.

How does it feel...

Scolded by your own master?

The old monk restrained his expression and said, "The Buddha said: In the Sutra of the Extinction of Dharma, the sons and grandsons of demons will enter the temple to avoid the county magistrate, to be lazy, or to bully others... All of them are demons in monk's skin. If you see them again, Master Ge, you should kill them."

“If you see anyone who has seen the Way in this way, you will also thank the Master.”

"Amitabha."

"Buddha of Infinite Life."

Monks and Taoists: "..."

noon.

The Dharma Assembly is temporarily suspended.

Everyone dispersed to eat vegetarian food.

I didn't understand much during the lecture, but I benefited a lot from the questions and answers that followed. They were inspiring and we had great exchanges.

In the cafeteria.

Noisy and bustling.

"I feel that the Qi sea in my body is three points more active." Long Eying was delighted.

Liang Qu was not happy but worried after hearing this.

"Bad thing! Don't become a nun. This will not have any good results."

Long Eying rolled her eyes: "Even if I go, how do you know there won't be a good result?"

"A woman who becomes a nun must practice for five hundred years before she can be reborn as a monk. Only a monk can become an arhat. Although dragons have a long lifespan, if you don't become a dragon, it may not be enough for you to practice in this life."

"Five hundred years?" Long Eying was surprised.

"Is there such a thing?" This was the first time Xu Zishuai and others heard of it.

It takes five hundred years to become a monk. For an ordinary person, it would take more than one lifetime to practice. It would take at least seven or eight lifetimes. If you are unlucky, it would take ten lifetimes!
"Why would I lie to you? The old monk is the one who makes sense. Just learn his way of thinking. The Buddhist martial arts and skills are not bad either. There are definitely a lot of dross in them. Don't learn all of them..."

"Uncle Liang..."

Huaikong stood behind without knowing when.

"Hey! Huaikong!" Liang Qu, who had said "bad things" about Buddhism behind its back, did not feel embarrassed and gave up the seat beside him. "Sit down! I still feel a little short of breath today. I'll ask Medicine Buddha to heal me later."

"Amitabha, it should be so." Huaikong was not a petty person and sat down to eat with everyone.

During this time, Liang Qu chewed the sour radish and glanced over from time to time.

Click.

Put the wooden chopsticks together.

Huaikong bowed.

"Mr. Liang, just speak frankly if you have anything to say."

"Hey, nephew, do you want to go out and try your luck?"
