Chapter 1066: The Tragedy Under the Underground Palace

"Oh no, how did this pirate know that?"

"What are we going to do to explain to Zoro that he entered the underground palace? Run!"

The kingdom guards who were knocked down by a sword energy knew what existed under the underground palace. In order to survive temporarily, they were willing to risk their lives for King Sezi's family.

The lightly wounded soldiers carried the seriously wounded soldiers, supported each other, pushed open the palace gate, and voluntarily left their posts, choosing to run away because they were too frightened.

These guards who have survived to this day more or less know what is under the palace, but they usually just pretend they can't hear or see it and just deceive themselves to get by.

Once the truth is revealed, the Kingdom of Lulucia will be turned upside down, and the revenge of King Sezi's family is something that ordinary citizens cannot afford.

Zoro's body kept sinking uncontrollably. The depth of the royal capital underground was beyond imagination, and the surrounding soil was falling down.

After maintaining the posture of the bottom lane for nearly several minutes, Zoro's feet finally touched the ground successfully. After stabilizing his body, he found himself in a strange place.

This is obviously a place that has been artificially excavated, and can barely be called an underground palace. On the walls of the underground palace, traces of axes and chisels are clearly visible, and the potholes and uneven places seem to tell the hardships during its construction.

The dim lights in the corridor are always on all year round, and the air is filled with a strong smell of blood. The smell is pungent and heavy, as if countless wronged souls are struggling in it.

Zoro cautiously followed the light into the depths of the underground palace, looking around sharply. The ground under his feet was not flat.

There were still dark red bloodstains in some places, which looked particularly scary under the light.

"It seems that there are many secrets hidden here," Zoro muttered to himself, his voice echoing in the empty underground palace with a hint of loneliness.

Soon a strong stench of foul smell came to his face, almost nauseating, and Zoro couldn't help but pinch his nose. He had never smelled so much dead body odor at once.

Ghost lights appeared frequently in the dim light, and the scene before him looked like a creepy execution ground.

A corpse pit lay before our eyes, with corpses of living beings dumped there at random. Without exception, they all looked like skin and bones, as if all life had been drained away by some means.

The hair was sparse and messy and stuck to the skinny body, and the limbs were twisted and curled up together, as if he had suffered endless pain in his life.

Looking closely, there was an opening at the neck of each corpse, and the blood had been drained out, leaving only this horrible body.

"So the slaves of the Kingdom of Lulucia are used in this kind of place."

The corpses that entered Sauron's sight had some eyes wide open, and the empty eyes seemed to still contain the fear and despair before death; some had their mouths wide open, as if they were making their last wail, but no one heard them. Each one of them had experienced great pain before death.

On the surrounding walls, some black marks can be vaguely seen. It is not known whether they are blood splatters or excrement. The bodies of the slaves were thrown here like garbage.

An eerie atmosphere permeated this enclosed space. Occasionally, a cool breeze blew by, bringing with it an eerie whimpering sound, as if the wronged souls of these innocent creatures were crying out.

Ordinary people standing here seem to see those cruel scenes reappearing before their eyes, which makes people shudder and want to escape from this terrible place as soon as possible.

Zoro knew that he couldn't wait any longer. He had to rescue these innocent people as soon as possible. Miranda still had great use in Kuina's eyes.

We cannot let Ms. Dark Circles die here for no reason. That will only make Zoro feel guilty and negative emotions will start to accumulate in his heart.

Following the guidance of the lights in the corridor, Zoro began to run quickly, using his Observation Haki to follow the direction of air circulation to search for Miranda again.

Along the way, Zoro encountered many corpse pits, with at least hundreds of corpses in each pit. Even if the green algae head was not good at math.

It can be roughly estimated that at least tens of thousands of slaves were buried in the underground palace. There were only a few citizens in the Kingdom of Lulucia, and so many innocent people lost their lives.

The view ahead gradually widened, and the lights revealed were brighter than the corridor. It was obviously an important place.

Zoro didn't care about the danger at all and stepped in with absolute confidence. The underground hall in front of him once again brought him a visual impact.

White crosses were neatly arranged in the center, and the bodies on them were mostly naked, with their palms nailed to the crosses with iron nails, and the religious torture ritual was in full swing.

The creature on the cross had tubes of varying thickness inserted into its body, and blood was flowing out of the tubes and into the pond below.

The blood surged in the pond, creating chilling ripples and dyeing the entire pond a shocking red.

Even if Zoro didn't go forward, he could feel the intermittent breathing of these people. These slaves who were nailed to the cross and continuously supplied with blood were not dead yet.

He finally understood where the blood in those corpses he had seen before had gone, and the blood of the slaves appeared in front of Sauron.

An extremely huge pool of blood lay in the center. The thick blood was a disgusting dark red color, and strange bubbles appeared on the surface from time to time.

Around the blood pool, there was a group of emaciated blood slaves, their eyes were empty and lifeless, they mechanically cut their wrists,

The blood was allowed to flow out along the special ditches into the huge blood pool. The wounds of these blood slaves seemed to never heal. They could only continue to provide blood and be brainwashed by some evil force.

According to the normal thinking process of the powerful, they usually have discrimination based on bloodline, believing that the blood of nobles and royal families is more noble, and marrying a commoner is a defilement of bloodline.

Unless necessary, the blood of civilians is looked down upon. Under normal circumstances, this is a form of discrimination, but in the current situation it is a form of protection. It is really ironic.

Zoro turned his attention away from the blood pool, looked at the densely packed group of crosses surrounding the blood pool, and strolled into them.

Some of the slaves who were nailed there to supply blood had lost their eyes and some had their mouths sewn shut. Sauron needed a victim who could speak fully so that he could understand the situation here.

The blood slaves all looked numb. Even though they could see Sauron, an outsider, they had no instinct to call for help. They were nailed to the cross and waited to die.

The slaves' spirits were broken, and they probably couldn't even speak complete sentences. Some of them even smiled at Zoro.

Zoro felt like his feet were filled with lead and every step he took was extremely heavy. Even though he was a swordsman, he couldn't be hard-hearted.

As expected, he still underestimated the moral limits of some people. He once thought that the nobles played with women, exploited the common people, and occasionally killed two slaves, which was the limit.

With so many lives suffering in front of him, he would be affected to some extent. Zoro now had only one thought in his mind, to find out who was behind this.

Zoro is still too young. He thinks too well of everyone and regards some humanoid creatures as human beings.

"Is that Mr. Zoro?"

A faint female voice not far away successfully attracted Zoro's attention. Could there be any acquaintances from the Straw Hat Pirates among these victims on the cross?
