Chapter 8 Branching

"Slytherin!"

The Sorting Hat shouted before it even touched the light blonde hair that was meticulously combed back. Professor McGonagall also lifted the Sorting Hat again, and Draco showed a proud and satisfied smile, jumped off the stool and walked towards the long table that was also cheering.

"The wizards who turned bad were all from Slytherin house."

Ron whispered to Harry again, causing many people to look at them, but Ron himself was completely unaware of this.

"Della Doreen Riddle!"

Professor McGonagall's voice interrupted Della's inner complaints. She pursed her lips and walked forward nervously, with Quasi's previous description constantly echoing in her mind.

The brave and reckless Gryffindor, the shrewd and cunning Slytherin, the smart and rigid Ravenclaw, and the sincere and kind Hufflepuff.

Slytherin seemed to be always associated with evil as Ron said, and Della also developed a little resistance.

The feeling of wearing the Sorting Hat on the head seemed to be no different from that of an ordinary hat. The brim of the hat within her sight began to move. Della could even imagine the changing folds of the hat. The whisper of the Sorting Hat also reached her ears at this time.

"Well, it's a bit difficult. You're smart and talented, but you don't seem very enthusiastic and a little stubborn. Ravenclaw? Oh! I get it!"

"Slytherin!"

The Sorting Hat shouted out an answer that Della had not expected. She blinked in surprise, not understanding how Ravenclaw became Slytherin. The Sorting Hat on her head was lifted up by Professor McGonagall, and cheers and applause came from the long table on the far right. Although it felt strange, Della still ran towards that table with a smile.

At this moment, Dumbledore clenched the cup and looked at Della with complicated eyes as she ran towards the Slytherin table. She seemed to be exactly the same as the figure in his memory many years ago in her black robe.

As she approached the table, Della saw a brown-haired Hispanic senior with dark skin smiling and waving at her next to an empty seat. She guessed that it might be the class monitor, so she followed her gesture and sat next to her.

"Della Riddle, Headmaster Dumbledore told us about you. You must be the child with the snake. I knew you would come to Slytherin!"

The senior student spoke enthusiastically, and Della didn't know what to say for a moment, so she could only smile shyly at the senior student.

"Ellian Lind, sixth grade, you can call me Senior Ellian. Gino and I will be your class leaders," Ellian pointed to Gino Reinte, a man with short black hair sitting opposite her. Then she turned around and said to Della expectantly, "Can I see your snake?"

Della, who had just followed Arrian's gesture and nodded and smiled at the male class leader, looked at her in a daze, her gaze was even eager. Della blinked and slowly reacted.

"Of course, Senior Ariane." Della said as she put her hand on her neck. Maggie also tacitly came out from between her collars and elegantly followed Della's fingers around her forearm.

After Maggie's fifteen-inch blue-gray snake was completely wrapped around her right arm, Della smiled and stretched it out to senior Alian who was already expressing admiration in front of her.

"Oh, oh! He is so beautiful!"

Aryan almost subconsciously wanted to reach out and touch Maggie, but she regained her senses halfway and stopped, looking at Della hesitantly.

"It's okay, Senior Alian, Maggie is very docile."

Della's words gave Aryan courage. She continued to reach out to Maggie with trembling hands. Maggie obediently rubbed the girl's slightly calloused palm with the head of the snake, and then swam up her arm under the girl's expectant gaze.

Aryan watched with fear and joy as the beautiful little snake moved up along her left arm and finally stopped on her shoulder. The snake's head, which had never opened its mouth, rubbed her cheek. The cold and smooth touch was not disgusting at all. Aryan felt that she was about to fall in love with this beautiful little snake.

Maggie didn't stay there for long before she slid over Ellian's back and moved along her other hand which was still on the table to the table. Della also cooperated by placing her arm on the table, and Maggie climbed onto her shoulders again.

Aryan looked at Maggie who had returned to Della reluctantly, "Della, please let Maggie and I spend more time together when we have the chance in the future." She said rather pitifully.

Della was surprised that the senior called her name so quickly. She responded to Aryan's words, and the tension in her heart dissipated a lot. Slytherin seemed to be much better than she had imagined.

Their interaction with the snake attracted the attention of many interested people from the very beginning. Not only the Slytherins, but even people at the Ravenclaw table farthest from them stood up and looked at them.

They first looked at the girl who Dumbledore made an exception to allow with a snake with curiosity. As Maggie poked her head out from her collar, some of their looks turned into fear. Aryan had volunteered to go and see the snake after discussion. The prefects of each college had made such arrangements to a greater or lesser extent. After all, they had to ensure the safety of the students.

However, Maggie's beauty and docility obviously exceeded their imagination. From the time she appeared to the end, she never opened her snake mouth to show her fangs. She could accept strangers and even spit out her bright red tongue only when she was on Della.

Now, even though Della and Aryan didn't make much noise, she was still in the spotlight of people who paid attention to her. All kinds of eyes were on her. Of course, many were on Maggie. It was estimated that quite a few people wanted to touch Maggie. Well, maybe they also wanted to make friends with Della. The eyes at the Slytherin table were particularly eager.

Gryffindor has no lions, Hufflepuff has no badgers, Ravenclaw may have an eagle, but Slytherin does have a snake, a beautiful and clever snake!

It was the first time that Della was stared at by so many pairs of eyes. She embarrassedly lowered her head and fiddled with the cutlery in front of her, trying hard to ignore all the glances. As a result, she missed the complex gazes from Dumbledore and Quirrell that were different from those of others.

By the way, when Della sat down, she noticed the annoying light golden-haired guy sitting opposite her. He seemed unable to believe that he would be sorted into Slytherin. He kept staring at her with his grey pupils and mumbling something that Della couldn't hear. However, Della didn't want to pay any attention to him, not even a glance back, and completely ignored the look that was filled with hatred and a little envy.

Instead, Maggie looked indifferently at the boy whose face was distorted by emotions with her dark yellow eyes. It was not until Malfoy lowered his head with some trembling in her sight that she turned around, with her delicate snake head twirling as if examining him.

The sorting ceremony was still going on. The reckless Ron and the savior Harry were both sorted into Gryffindor. "We have Potter!" Such an excited voice reached Della's ears. She couldn't help but look back at Harry who was dealing with the enthusiastic handshakes of the seniors. She still couldn't understand why such a little boy was called a savior.

This cannot be blamed on Della. At this time, Della knew nothing about the darkness brought by the Dark Lord Voldemort, who was once Riddle.

People sat down in the empty seats next to her one after another. Sitting next to her was a girl with short black hair that reached her ears. It could be seen that her hair was very smoothly groomed, but she had the same arrogant expression on the face of the golden annoying guy. The girl named Pansy Parkinson ignored Della's friendly greeting, snorted coldly, and sat down.

Della shrugged slightly and didn't make any more conversational moves. After the Sorting Hat shouted a few more times, all the freshmen sat at their corresponding long tables, and Professor McGonagall turned and walked towards her seat.

"Please pay attention."

Professor McGonagall took her seat and tapped the tall glass in front of her with a golden spoon, making a crisp but very contagious sound. The students in the hall, who were originally a little noisy, immediately quieted down.

"The party begins now."

At this time Dumbledore stood up, raised the golden wine glass and spoke to everyone. As soon as he finished speaking, a sumptuous banquet appeared on the long table of the four colleges. There were well-matched foods on the plates in front of everyone, and there were slightly larger plates in the middle of the long table with food for taking. The freshmen who had just sat down all exclaimed in surprise.

Della was also surprised by the sudden appearance of these delicacies in front of her, but soon she picked up the cutlery at hand and started enjoying the food like everyone else.

Just as she put a small piece of broccoli into her mouth, a small shadow was cast in front of her. Della looked up in a daze at Senior Gino who handed her a plate of food.

"This is for Maggie."

She heard the high-nosed senior in front of her speak gently.
