Chapter 9 Slytherin
Della looked at senior Gino with her beautiful black eyes, who had a gentle smile on his face. She smiled shyly and reached out to take the plate from his hand. Inside was a steak that had been cut into small pieces. The steak cut along the grain looked very tender and soft, with a lot of blood on it. Della thought it was probably a medium-rare steak.
After the plate of cut steak was placed on the table, Maggie was not in a hurry to eat it. He first slid his body around the plate, then slid smoothly through the gaps between the plates on the table, and finally came in front of Gino Lanet. He raised his body and seemed to nod to Gino.
Gino's eyes never left the slender and well-proportioned little snake. He was flattered as he looked at Maggie, who seemed to be bewitched inexplicably, and subconsciously raised his right hand to approach the seemingly friendly snake head. As soon as they made contact, Maggie swam up smoothly, climbed onto his shoulders, and raised its head to rub his cheek softly.
"Maggie is thanking Senior Gino," Della added at the right time.
Soon, Maggie got off Gino, crossed the gap again, and began to enjoy the cut steak elegantly. Della felt that Maggie seemed very satisfied with such food, and she made a silent note of it.
Ellian on the side was immediately filled with envy and jealousy. She silently glared at Gino who was favored by Maggie, but got only his usual gentle smile. However, his red ears completely exposed his excitement. She didn't expect that the medium-rare steak that he usually pretended to cook could have this use.
At this moment, Aryan couldn't see any food that looked like it could be fed to Maggie, and could only watch Maggie eating with a rather resentful look.
Even when it opened its mouth, it didn't look ferocious, and it didn't have the greedy look that I had read about before, swallowing a lot. Wow! It even wiped its mouth with the edge of Della's napkin after eating! What a wonderful snake.
At the Slytherin table, there were many people who had no appetite like Aryan. Maggie was really smart and docile, which made Della suffer a little. She really used all her strength to make herself appear gentle and polite under such gazes. Even when a strange ghost suddenly jumped out from the dining table, she couldn't show any surprise because the fake expression on her face was too exaggerated, although she was not calm in her heart.
During the meal, Della felt her face stiffen. However, she thought this was a sweet trouble. Although she could not stand it, she did not hate the harmless gazes with emotions. Even if most of it was because of Maggie, she did not feel jealous. Maggie was the one closest to her, which only made her feel more proud.
After the banquet, all the first-year students gathered together under the command of their respective class leaders and finally dispersed at a staircase fork. The other three colleges continued to walk upwards under the warm ginger-colored lights. Della looked up and could see the changing stairs and walls covered with oil paintings.
The Slytherin students had to go down to the basement. Della could only see some dim oil lamps hanging on the dark stone walls on both sides. This road must be very damp because Della saw the light of water reflected on the wall.
For snakes, the environment is surprisingly suitable.
Before parting, Harry gently pulled her and whispered, "I really want to meet your snake, Della."
When she looked up, she saw the boy's shy and friendly smile. Even Ron beside her smiled at her shyly, probably because he didn't know how to face what he said. Hermione waved at her in a friendly manner.
After waving goodbye, Della turned around and jogged to catch up with the team. When she turned around, she found that the annoying guy with light blond hair had been staring at her. His eyebrows were raised and his pupils were pointed downwards. Although they were about the same height, he gave Della a feeling of being condescending.
"Don't think you'll be fine just by hooking up with that savior Potter!" He lowered his voice and spoke harshly to her while surrounded by several people.
Della glanced at him and patted his shoulder, and Maggie slid out obediently. Although she was just quietly coiled around Della's shoulders and didn't seem to be attacking, Draco's face changed. He took a few quick steps to the front before turning back to look at Della and Maggie with a complicated look.
As soon as Draco moved forward, he was surrounded by all the first-year students in front of him. It was the first time that Della carefully observed these classmates from the same college. Della hadn't noticed that the freshmen from four colleges were together just now, but now there were less than ten freshmen in one college.
There were only nine Slytherins this year, including myself, five boys and four girls. In addition to the annoying guy and his two fat brothers, there was a dark-skinned boy with brown eyes named Blaise Zabini, who seemed to be more inclined towards the annoying guy.
The girls left themselves aside and all gathered around the annoying guy, not too close or too far away. The one with short black hair who looked like a poodle was Pansy Parkinson, the one with long black hair who looked a bit sturdy was Millicent Bulstrode, and the one with long curly brown hair and fair skin was Daphne Greengrass. These three people ignored Della's friendly smile and surrounded Draco tacitly.
However, there was another person who was walking quietly behind like Della. He was a pale and sickly-looking boy. Della remembered that his name was Theodore Nott. He just looked at her coldly, as if he didn't want to be with Draco because he was a loner, but he also disdained Della.
This was very different from most of the eager gazes Della felt at the table. Combined with Draco calling her a mudblood and expressing his disgust towards her, Della vaguely guessed that these people were purebloods, and purebloods with a sense of bloodline.
Sighing silently in her heart, she no longer worried about making friends and just quietly followed seniors Alian and Gino in front of her. However, Maggie on her shoulder was very satisfied with the new environment. He kept turning his slender snake head and spitting out red tongue from time to time.
Not long after, everyone was led to a wet stone wall. Della noticed that the wall had some eroded patterns, and it was roughly recognizable as a snake.
"glory."
Senior Ailian in front of them was talking to the stone wall, and the stone wall slowly moved away, revealing a pointed entrance. Everyone went in one by one at her wave. Della was tactful and stood at the end of the line. Before going in, senior Ailian patted her on the shoulder in a friendly manner, and Della smiled back.
After everyone came in and stood in place, Senior Gino put his hands behind his back and began to speak.
"Welcome to Slytherin. I am your prefect, Gino Ryant, and the one next to me is Ellian Lind. We will now give you some guidance on the life of the academy."
"As you can see, the stone slab just now is the entrance to our common room, and 'Glory' is our password for the next two weeks. The password of the common room will be changed every two weeks, so please check the notice board. You are not allowed to bring students from other colleges to our common room and tell them our password. We haven't allowed outsiders to enter our common room for seven hundred years."
"I don't deny that there have been some dark magicians in our house, but there are also dark magicians in the other three houses - they just don't want to admit it. Yes, we tend to recruit descendants of famous wizard families, but you can also find that many Slytherins are not opposed to half-bloods."
Gino paused here and looked at the freshmen in front of him, almost all of whom were pure-bloods. It was obvious that these words were not meant for most of them.
"I've clarified some rumors about us. It's time to tell you a little bit about us. We are the coolest and sharpest house in this school. Our goal is to win because we care about the tradition of Slytherin's reputation. Our classmates also respect us very much. Yes, some of the respect is mixed with a little fear because of our reputation in the dark magic world, but you know what? Sometimes it's also fun to have a great reputation in a field that no one dares to touch."
"Well, look around you in the common room at these people, if you think they are nothing special or amazing, I advise you not to say it. Because if the Sorting Hat put them in this house, they must be great, don't forget that."
In this slightly dim lounge, Senior Gino said a lot, and many of his words touched Della deeply. Although the colors in front of her were not as warm as the turmeric, the green and silver gave Della a different sense of honor. Only now did Della truly realize that she had entered Slytherin. It was not as simple as entering a college, but she was chosen by Slytherin, where victory is paramount.
