Chapter 20: Learning the Moon Step
While Vic was thinking, Koshiro had returned to the quiet room and handed him a permanent pointer.
"Vic, when are you planning to leave?" Koshiro asked curiously.
"Teacher, I just thought about it and plan to go out after a while. Let me finish the preparations first." Vic replied.
"It's good that you know what's going on. Go ahead." After saying this, Koshiro sat down again and stopped talking.
Vic stood up, bowed slightly to Koshiro, turned around and walked out of the quiet room.
He decided to put everything else aside from today and focus on practicing his speed and learning the Moon Step.
From that day on, there was a man running with a huge rock on his back in Shimotsuki Village. The apprentices in the gym were all amazed, and the people in the village were a little shocked. This was a human-shaped beast.
When Vic was tired of running, he would rest, and then run again. When he was thirsty, he would drink water, and when he was hungry, he would hunt and barbecue. He had a skilled body, and his speed was getting faster and faster, and the stones he carried on his back were getting bigger and bigger.
Guina admires Vic very much. She watches him when he runs, and comes over to him when he grills, listening to him tell stories. Vic tells her to eat more meat and exercise in the future.
Just like that, after three days his speed reached the elementary conditions for shaving, and now his shaving can be used stably.
......
A month later, Vic finally learned the Moon Step. When the gym students saw Vic stepping in the sky, their jaws dropped. Kuina was excited, her face flushed, and her eyes were full of admiration.
Koshiro just looked at it for a while without any change in expression. It was obvious that he knew what it was. He did not ask how Vic knew the Moon Walk.
Guina clamored to learn, as human beings' yearning for the sky is universal. Vic told her, "You are too young now, and your body is not strong enough to learn. You must exercise well and eat more meat in the future. I will teach you when you grow up." Only then did he calm her down.
The day after he learned how to moonwalk, Vic went out to sea with a backpack, a snow walker, a permanent pointer and a small boat. He also prepared two days of food and water for himself.
Vic had nothing to do at sea, so he focused on exercising.
The Moon Step is practiced every day. He wants to make his Moon Step faster, higher, and more durable. No one can predict what will happen in the future. If you practice the Moon Step well, you can save lives, escape, or chase at critical moments. It is a relatively versatile skill, especially on the sea.
Yuebu made progress every day. When he got tired, he would go into the sea, tie a rope around his waist, swim with only his hands, and pull the boat towards the target direction. If he saw sea beasts or big fish under the sea, he would catch them as food.
This is his daily life at sea. Zoro would cry when he saw it. "I call myself a training madman, but I have to put away my barbell in front of Vic!!!"
He didn't meet any blind people along the way, but it was also because he swam too fast, like a speedboat, and others could not catch up with him. In order to avoid wasting time, he did not shout or kill. When he met a pirate ship nearby, he would Moon Step forward and ask the pirates on the ship if they had heard of devil fruits. If they had not heard of it, he would cut the pirate ship in half with one knife and let them fend for themselves.
Having heard of the devil fruit, he asked if there was one on the ship and where he heard about it. In the end, he gave them a knife as a farewell. Vic never found the devil fruit.
After sailing for more than ten days, they finally arrived at the edge of the doldrums. His Moon Steps were enough to allow him to fly in the sky for half a day.
We found an uninhabited island near the doldrums, towed the boat to the shore, found a big tree on the shore, and used the snow to split a one-meter-long wooden board that was 50 cm wide and 10 cm thick.
He caught another bigeye sheep, came to the beach, made a bonfire, and grilled the processed sheep. He mostly ate fish or sea animals during this period, and occasionally he could go to the island and eat in a restaurant. He missed the taste of barbecue a little.
After eating the mutton, they put the chopped wood boards next to the fire to roast, and then went to the cabin of the boat to sleep.
Vic didn't know how far the island was, so just in case he prepared a piece of wood. If things really went wrong, he could use the wood to float on the sea. The purpose of drying the moisture in the wood was to make it carry more weight.
Nothing happened at night, so I took a night's rest to refresh myself. In the morning, Vic caught another bigmouth lamb and grilled it. The lamb was delicious.
After eating and drinking, I packed up all my things. The moisture on the wooden board was almost dry, so I tied it to my back, took out the permanent pointer, and used the Moon Step to fly towards the island.
Vic spent half a day on the Moon Walk, and was almost at his limit, but still could not see the shadow of the island. He was afraid of an accident and did not dare to use up all his strength. He gently placed the wooden board on the sea, fearing that the board falling into the water would make too much noise and attract the sea kings. He stepped lightly on the board with one foot, and the board swayed on both sides as if it was going to flip over. Vic quickly put the other foot on it, then immediately sat down and lowered his center of gravity. The board was finally stable. Fortunately, the board was thick enough and had no water, so it was still half a centimeter above the water.
This is a calm zone and there are no waves. The wooden board is floating there, very steadily. Vic is also always paying attention to the situation under the sea.
He was almost done resting and no sea kings came to play games with him, so he felt relieved and guessed that there might be no sea kings in this sea area today.
After a good rest and no sea kings came out, Vic sighed that his luck was really good. In a good mood, he took out the lamb leg that he had saved in the morning from his backpack, uncovered the several layers of large leaves wrapped around it, grabbed the bones and started to gnaw on the meat. The meat was cold and not so delicious, so he tore off two bites and started chewing.
Sitting on the sea, looking at the endless sea, eating mutton, Vic had a smile on his face. This life was pretty good. Maybe God couldn't stand it anymore. The sea suddenly shook, and Vic said to himself, "It's bad."
He quickly stood up and prepared to collect the board, but he saw a huge head underwater approaching him quickly. He was so scared that he didn't dare to take the board and immediately used the Moon Step to fly into the sky.
The moment he left the board, two rows of serrated teeth emerged from the water. Each of the teeth was bigger than a house and white. They closed together in an instant. The board had disappeared, and a big head appeared on the sea surface, which looked like the head of a mullet. The fish head was probably as big as a small island reef.
Vic continued to rise on the Moon Step, looking at the big fish below. Suddenly, another fish head came out of the sea and headed towards Vic. This sea king had a very long neck and had come close to Vic. Vic knew that he could not avoid the huge mouth if he continued to rise, so he quickly moved to the side. He finally avoided the long neck of the sea king, but two more long necks came to compete for Vic. Vic rushed left and right, dodging with difficulty and narrowly escaped death. As a result, there were more and more sea kings on the sea.
Vic finally realized that it was all because of the piece of meat in his hand. Everything was fine when he didn't take it out, but as soon as he took it out, all the sea kings came. Vic quickly threw away the leg of lamb in his hand, cursing.
Vic used the Moon Walk and lay down on top of a motionless sea king, ready to rest for a while before going to find the island. Whether he could get there within half a day really depended on luck.
The other sea kings were all fighting for the mutton. Now no fish paid attention to Vic, so he took the time to rest. It was so thrilling that he broke out in a cold sweat.
The baby under him was quite cooperative and didn't cut off the source of the trouble. Vic paused for a moment, took out the permanent pointer, and flew away into the sky, no longer paying attention to the fight in the sea.
