Chapter 21 Landing on the Island

Two hours later, Vic finally saw the island. It was very big, with a big lake in the middle and tall trees all around.

Vic felt it when he looked at it from a distance. The ancient and desolate atmosphere emanating from the island was so shocking that he could not help but surrender.

Vic landed on the ground of the island using the Moon Step. The aura was even stronger. Perhaps it was this aura that attracted the sea kings. This primitive vastness was the favorite of those ferocious beasts.

Vic didn't know how long he would stay here, so he planned to build a shelter first. The animals on the island were too strong, and without protection, he would be doomed if they were taken away at night.

Vic explored along the edge of the island and found large dragging marks in many places on the beach. Vic heard from Koshiro that there were sea kings on the island, and he guessed that the marks were left by the sea kings. "It's not safe to build a shelter on the seaside," Vic muttered.

After searching for a long time, Vic finally found a cliff by the sea. He planned to build a shelter on the edge of the cliff. The cliff was very high and there were no signs of sea kings coming ashore. He estimated that this was a safer place.

He did what he said. For a swordsman, there were plenty of materials for building a house. Vic chopped some long stones and wooden boards and spent half a day to finally build a wooden house with an elegant appearance. The house had a back door near the cliff, and then he set up an alarm device in a semicircle 20 meters outside the wooden house to prevent sneak attacks after falling asleep at night.

After the house was built, an earthen stove was built with stone slabs, and stone pots, stone bowls, stone spatulas and other cooking utensils were made with stones.

I was tired after a day of work. I had mutton in the morning, but it’s all gone now. I’m starving.

"Let's take a break. We're about to go hunting. It's getting dark soon. We don't know what the forest will be like at night. We'll explore it later." Vic muttered to himself.

After a good rest, Vic left his backpack in the cabin, and headed into the forest with a snowmobile on his waist.

The forest was mostly filled with trees and flowers that Vic didn't recognize, as well as insects and small animals.

Vic looked at the animals and plants along the way and said, "This island has developed in a different direction from many other islands. The creatures here are very strange. I have never seen them outside." Vic said secretly.

Not far away, Vic saw a creature eating grass, and Vic touched his chin.

"This looks like some kind of dinosaur. The big head looks a bit like a Triceratops, but it doesn't have horns. Its legs are longer and thinner than those of a Triceratops. It looks silly. I wonder if its meat is delicious."

Hearing the sound, the dinosaur turned around and looked at Vic, but ignored him and went back to eating grass, swinging its short, thick tail back and forth, not paying any attention to Vic at all.

After all, this dinosaur was nearly five meters tall, and about ten meters long from head to tail, just like a double-decker bus. In its eyes, Vic was just a tiny thing and did not arouse its vigilance at all.

Vic was so angry that he laughed, "Look down on me? It's decided, you are tonight's dinner, haha."

After saying that, Vic drew out his sword and jumped to the dinosaur's neck, ready to chop off its head with one knife.

With a clang, Vic felt like he had hit a mountain. His arm went numb from the shock. There was only a white mark on the dinosaur's neck, without any damage. Vic rubbed his teeth. What kind of defense is this? It's a bit outrageous.

The Vic was still in the air, thinking about where to attack next, when he saw a dark shadow coming at him. He suddenly flew out and did not stop until he crashed into two large trees.

When Vic hit the dinosaur, the dinosaur was not idle either. It swung its tail and knocked Vic away. The speed was so fast that Vic could not react at all.

After the dinosaur hit Vic and sent him flying, it looked back at him, then ran away with a "whoosh" sound. Its speed was almost as fast as that of a razor, and only an afterimage was seen.

Vic thought about it and understood that it would be difficult for animals that were not strong and not fast to survive on this island. "You are lucky. I am just hungry today and have no strength. We will see what happens."

Vic lay on the ground, cursing as he looked in the direction where the dinosaur disappeared.

Vic wasn't seriously injured, just a little out of breath. His body had become quite strong after years of training, and he could easily smash rocks. This time he was just a little careless. Who would have thought that a herbivore had such strong defense? He thought he could cut the enemy in half with one sword, but the sword almost broke.

After lying on the ground for a while to calm down, Vic stood up and went in another direction. There was no need to go in the direction where the dinosaurs escaped, as all the animals along the way were probably scared away.

Because he was unfamiliar with this place, Vic didn't dare to move forward fast. After walking for half an hour, he finally saw the shadows of animals. The sound of the battle just now also spread over a long distance, and animals only began to appear here.

Vic continued to walk forward and soon found the target. It was not that big, only about one meter tall, but very slender, and looked a bit like a horse, with some spotted patterns on its body. The horse was very alert and ran away immediately when it sensed danger. Its speed was faster than the dinosaur just now, but how could Vic let it go?

Vic's speed exceeded the speed of sound, and he immediately caught up with the wild horse. He slashed it diagonally with his sword, leaving a big cut on the wild horse's neck. Blood gushed out freely. Despite such a big and fatal wound, the wild horse did not stop and continued to run forward, but its speed became slower and slower, and finally it fell down unwillingly.

"This wild horse is faster than the dinosaur, but its defense is not so good. However, its vitality is really strong. It can run so far after losing so much blood. The animals on this island are not simple." Vic said in his heart.

Vic quickly picked up the wild horse and ran at full speed. Although the wild horse was not tall, it had a long body and very firm flesh.

This wild horse weighed nearly one ton, but Vic carried it as if it was effortless and galloped back in the direction he came from. He was afraid that if he carried it for too long, the smell of blood would attract stronger carnivores.

Vic was very fast. He reached the outside of the cabin in less than ten minutes at full speed. Then Vic carried the wild horse and used the Moon Step to get down to the rocks below the cliff. There he put the wild horse in order and flew back up the cliff using the Moon Step.

Vic plans to braise part of it today, grill the rest, and make some broth.

He built a bonfire outside the cabin, placed the remaining horse meat next to the bonfire, and went back into the house to stew the horse meat.

After the moon came out, Vic prepared all the food. The braised pork was served on a large wooden plate, and the broth was brought out together with the pot. It looked very rich. Vic took a sip of the soup, which was delicious, and then he started eating.

After eating, Vic felt that his physical strength recovered quickly and became much stronger. He guessed that the animals on this island had a high content of "elemental spirits" in their bodies. "This is a treasure trove. I can come here to hunt more often in the future. When I leave, I can bring some dried meat back for Rebecca and Kuina to eat."

Vic ate his fill and saved some for the next morning, but he finished the rest.

After eating the horse meat, Vic felt his body warm and full of strength.

"If only I could stay here a few more days, my body would become stronger. It's a pity that I can't fall behind in my kendo practice. I'll come back when I have the chance." Vic finished eating and lay on the ground to rest.

Looking at the moon in the sky, Vic's thoughts drifted away, "I wonder if Rebecca's kendo has improved, and if Grandma Maria is feeling better. I want to learn the things behind kendo as soon as possible, and then go back to see her." Vic missed his family a little.
