Chapter 66 Lockhart's First Lesson
The sky over Hogwarts was as clear as the sky over the small area of Spinner's End. Della, lying on the ground, squinted her eyes, looking through the azure sky that appeared between the branches overhead. She stretched her hand upwards, tracing the shape of the clouds.
"It seems that our Miss Riddle is very pleased with herself," a low, gloomy voice came. Seeing Della sit up, Snape continued, "She is not at all ashamed of deducting points from Slytherin this morning."
"Professor, I added the points back afterwards," Della stood up, patted her robe, and smiled as usual, "Of course, I felt very ashamed."
"I can't see it at all." Snape looked around and then frowned tightly, as if it brought back some bad memories, which made his face even uglier and his voice even lower.
"After breaking up with her Muggle boyfriend, Miss Riddle also broke up with her magical boyfriend."
Before Della could say anything, countless colors immediately rolled up on the green grass. Della touched a red snake that had already stood up next to her hand soothingly and said softly, "Ha-s-s-s (Go away)."
The colors on the grass quickly faded away, disappearing completely in the blink of an eye, as if they had never existed. Della looked at Snape's increasingly gloomy expression and said softly, "I'm sorry, Professor, I sometimes like this."
"..." Snape snorted coldly, his half-long black hair swung, and he threw an apple to Della, "Don't skip the hall casually. Also, you should go to the Defense Against the Dark Arts class this afternoon."
"Thank you, Professor." Della was silent for a moment, a helpless and strange smile appeared on her face, and following Snape's shaking black robe, she and her legal father walked towards Hogwarts Castle together.
"Personally, I think that Muggle is much better than Malfoy." Snape said this in a low voice as they approached the castle.
"A professor really wants to talk to a second-year student about relationship issues?"
Della couldn't help but complain. After receiving a murderous look from Snape, she smiled and said, "The professor is right. Leah's personality is more suitable than Draco's. But can't we only judge a relationship by suitability?"
"Of course, you shouldn't force a relationship that isn't suitable," Della added, the smile on her face fading.
"..." Snape glanced at her and said nothing more. The two of them walked towards the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom in silence. When the students along the way saw the big black bat, they all fell silent and even moved cautiously, except for Ron and Harry who were running.
Snape obviously saw them. He immediately stood at the door of the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, quietly watching their faces turning paler as they came closer.
Della opened her mouth, touched the apple in her robe pocket, and finally closed her mouth and stood with Snape.
"S, Professor Snape." Harry and Ron greeted breathlessly.
"Look at our two persons under observation," Snape looked down at them, his face looking colder than a snake, "running in the corridor and not paying attention to class time, five points will be deducted from each of them!"
After saying that, Snape turned around and pushed open the classroom door in a very cool manner. He gestured to Della to follow him and walked into the classroom aggressively, which made his robe swell even more.
Della and Harry didn't react very quickly. They just exchanged a quick glance and followed Snape into the classroom.
As soon as I entered the classroom, I was the center of attention.
"Oh, Professor Snape, why are you here?" Lockhart shook his curly golden hair, looking very surprised.
"My new daughter spent too much time processing materials for me at noon. I think I should send her over." Snape turned his head and glanced at Della.
"Oh, that's no problem—" Lockhart responded subconsciously, but as soon as he finished speaking, Snape's low voice sounded again.
"Also," Snape raised his voice, "Regarding the method of making the simplified version of Felix Felicis that Professor Lockhart mentioned yesterday, we have prepared the materials at noon. Please come and demonstrate it to me in the evening."
"Since you know so much and have so many people who admire you, you should not be stingy in showing off." Without waiting for Lockhart to reply, Snape said with his head raised.
"Of course."
Lockhart responded somewhat unnaturally, and put on his signature smile. Looking at the astonished faces of the students below the podium, he added, "Ah, don't think that I'm better than your Potions professor. I just delved into other areas."
"Very good," Snape snorted, his expression became even more sour. He looked down at Della, reached out and gently pushed her shoulder, "Study hard... Della."
Perhaps it would be inappropriate to call her Miss Riddle at this time, so Snape called her Della for the first time.
Della blinked, nodded, and sat down at an empty table. Harry followed and sat next to her. This was very unusual. Seeing that Snape had gone out, Della moved closer to Harry and asked in a low voice, "Why aren't you sitting with Ron?"
"I want to give this to you," Harry also whispered. He looked at the frivolous professor who was boasting at the podium, and carefully handed an apple to Della under the table, "You didn't have lunch."
"Thank you so much, Harry." Della rubbed the apple in her hand twice, her eyes narrowed slightly, and the corners of her mouth raised slightly.
The rhetoric on the podium finally came to an end. The handsome Lockhart picked up a stack of papers and waved them in front of all the second-year students. "Let's start today's class with a small test."
Hearing him say this, Harry's little face immediately wrinkled, and it wrinkled even more after he got the test paper.
"What is Gilderoy Lockhart's favorite color?"
"What is Gilderoy Lockhart's ambition?"
......
Della and Harry looked at each other, and after seeing each other's slightly open mouths, they both smiled helplessly, then picked up the quills, and after Lockhart said "start", they began to answer these new professor's common sense questions.
And the subtle thing is that Della knew all of them, because she actually read those textbooks as popular reading materials, and because of the constant emphasis on certain personal characteristics of the author in the book, she really remembered them.
Suddenly I felt depressed that I had wasted my brain.
This shriveling feeling reached its peak when Lockhart praised her for getting all the correct answers on the test. Della smiled stiffly, comforting herself that at least she had gotten extra points for the academy.
Della really couldn't laugh at all when Lockhart showed what he called the most evil creatures in the wizarding world - the Cornish pixies. Moreover, the professor was so careless in releasing these naughty ghosts that even his wand was stolen.
"Pause everything! Retrace your position!"
Amid the chaos and screams, Della raised her wand and chanted a spell loudly, and all the rebellious elves in the classroom seemed to be pulled back into their cages.
After a 'click' sound, the iron cage automatically locked. Lockhart, who was halfway up the stairs, stared blankly at the suddenly quiet classroom. At this moment, his reaction was very fast. He came back to his senses faster than anyone else on the scene and showed his signature smile again.
"Very good. You are worthy of being Professor Snape's daughter. This is what I want to teach you. 10 points for Slytherin!"
Lockhart seemed to be speaking calmly, and if his hands on the railing had not been shaking slightly, perhaps Della would have really looked up to him.
Anyway, the first day of school was really weird, and I really didn’t know what would happen in the next half day.
