Chapter 8 Hearing the Dharma

Chapter 8 Hearing the Dharma
The clouds have been in the mountains for more than twenty days.

During these twenty days, reading still occupied the majority of the boy's time. During this period, he also attended the lectures given by the Biefeng Master, attended several Daoist conferences on the Dongtian Dao, and paid close attention to the class schedule. However, to the boy's disappointment, there was no discussion on the introductory breathing method.

In this regard, He Bingkun explained that in the past, if there were large-scale recruitment of disciples, there might be teachers who specifically instruct the newcomers. However, this time, the timing of the Meiji Mountain recruitment was neither too early nor too late, and there was only one person joining, so the sect certainly would not offer relevant courses. It was presumed that Master Su Kongyu gave the instruction himself.

Fortunately, Yunqi had an excellent understanding since childhood. He read books on his own and occasionally asked He Bingkun for advice in the evening. He learned a lot, which surprised He Bingkun.

Today is the ninth day of April, the day to report for duty at Meiji Mountain.

At two quarters past the morning, Cheng Yunqi was waiting in the yard. Having been together for some time, he already knew He Bingkun's daily habits.

Sure enough, not long after, He Bingkun also came out of the house. He patted Yunqi on the shoulder and said, "Today is your big day. Perform well in front of Master Yu."

Yunqi smiled and nodded.

He Bingkun whistled, grabbed Yunqi's arm and jumped up. The latter felt dizzy and then sat on the back of Leique.

The back of the Thunderbird is soft, but its feathers are very slippery, and I always feel like I'm going to fall off it. There is also a tingling sensation where my body touches the Thunderbird.

The Thunderbird flapped its wings and flew high. The cloud was about to slide down, but He Bingkun grabbed it and said, "Sit cross-legged and face the sky. If you can enter a state of meditation on the Thunderbird, then you have mastered the art of meditation."

Of course Yunqi hadn't entered yet, so he held He Bingkun tightly.

The Thunderbird was indeed extremely fast. It flew straight up into the clouds, passing through the neon lights of the Rainbow Bridge. It soon reached the end of Dongping Mountain and then flew down through the clouds.

But what surprised Yunqi was that the last time he was brought here by Feng Jihu, he felt that the clouds were extremely thick when they were descending. He and the people who came for the assessment landed on Meiji Mountain in the vast white clouds. But at this moment, the clouds just flashed by, and a completely different scenery appeared before his eyes.

From a bird's eye view, Sanqing Mountain is full of mountains, but none of them is as spiritual as the one in front of us:
Eight high mountains rise from the ground, with their bases clustered together and their tips leaning outwards towards eight directions: east, northeast, north, northwest, west, southwest, south and southeast. However, these eight peaks are absolutely different. The one in the southwest is as graceful as a snail, shrouded in clouds and mist; the mountain in the north is as red as iron, with fireworks rising; the mountain in the northwest is covered with thunderclouds and shining purple lightning; the mountain in the southeast is planted with green bamboos, with surging bamboo waves.

The eight mountains are of different shapes, just like colorful glazed lotus pedestals that were accidentally made by immortal craftsmen in heaven.

There is another mountain between the eight mountains, which looks like a lotus platform, but the details of this mountain are not clear in the glow of the eight peaks. The only thing you can see is that there are countless waterfalls hanging on the mountain wall, rushing down like thousands of white silk ribbons.

"This is……"

"This is the blessed land of lotus," said He Bingkun.

He Bingkun pointed to the mountain covered with green bamboo and said, "This is Meiji Mountain. Because the mountain is covered with green bamboo, bamboo is elegantly called Qingshen, so it is also called Qingshen Mountain. It is located in the Xun position of the Lotus Blessed Land."

The Thunderbird carried the two people to Meiji Mountain. Yunqi looked around carefully, but did not find any other figures on Meiji Mountain, and there were not even one or two in the palaces or pavilions.

He Bingkun piloted the Thunderbird and placed the cloud on a raised stone platform on the south side of the hillside of Mt. Meiji. He said that he would pick up the cloud here at night, and then rode the bird to the northwest peak covered with thunderclouds.

Yunqi stood on the stone platform and looked around. He found a stone standing next to him with the words "Liangjundu" written on it.

He searched around and easily found the path he had taken in the previous assessment. He followed the path into the depths of the bamboo forest and sure enough, next to the pavilion behind the monument where Zhan Biyun hid the bamboo, Yunqi saw Master Su Kongyu again.

"Come and sit down."

Master Su Kongyu said.

Yunqi walked into the pavilion and sat down on the cushion opposite Master Yu.

"Are you used to life in the mountains?" "Yes, life here is good."

"That's good. When you have eaten the air and regained your strength, you can go back to town. It's not far. In addition, the population of Meiji Mountain is not large, so there are no special holidays. If you miss home, just ask for leave. You must not stop offering incense to your parents during the four seasons and eight festivals. When you go back to your hometown to visit their graves, you can follow the secular customs."

Yunqi felt a little relieved. It seemed that the rules on the mountain were not as strict as he had thought. As for the fact that Master Yu knew about his family affairs, Yunqi was not surprised. He thought that the Yulin Temple in the mortal world had already investigated him from childhood to adulthood. He bowed deeply and said:
"Thank you, Master."

"No need to thank me. My Meiji Mountain has very few rules. You will know them in the future."

The clouds said yes.

"Gather your mind and now let's talk about cultivation.

"Meiji Mountain takes the inner alchemy as its foundation. The inner alchemy is the source of all things and the root of longevity. Before becoming an immortal, there are five major realms: refining qi, life storage, golden elixir, primordial infant, and unity of the way. Refining qi begins with eating qi, so today we will talk about eating qi first.

“The spiritual energy of heaven and earth is the essence of the world and the ladder to becoming an immortal. Especially for my Taoist sect, spiritual energy is the only way to open up the treasure of the flesh and the only basis for performing all kinds of magic.

"The flow of spiritual energy in the world is unpredictable, but there are always rules to follow. The spiritual energy in the deep mountains and swamps is always richer than that in the mortal world. At noon, the sun star stimulates the lower yang spiritual energy to be more active. At midnight, the moon star shines on the lower yin spiritual energy, and the lower yin spiritual energy is abundant. In the forest, the wood spiritual energy is the most, and on the rivers, the water spiritual energy is strong. Although there are exceptions, this is the general trend.

“The spiritual energy of heaven and earth is diverse and numerous, and cultivators like us naturally cannot consume all of it, not to mention the miasma of wood, the marsh gas of earth, and the sulfur gas of fire, which are even more poisonous. Therefore, if we want to consume air, we must first know what kind of air we are consuming.

"What kind of Qi you eat is determined by the innate properties of your physical body and the methods of cultivation. For most people, there is no need to delve into the former. People with pure Yang bodies or Yuan Yin bodies are very rare. As for you, Yunqi, I have checked you and you also have an ordinary body, but your meridians are thicker and tougher than those of people of the same age. I guess it is the effect of refining your body with pure spiritual energy.

"I know what you want to ask. Pure spiritual energy is also spiritual energy of heaven and earth. It is essentially a kind of Yang energy. According to the sect, pure spiritual energy is a kind of pure energy when heaven and earth were first separated into pure and turbid. It has the effect of clearing the mind and stabilizing the primordial spirit. The Tongmai Stretching Meridian Gong you are practicing now is only the most basic way to consume pure spiritual energy. There will naturally be other wonderful methods in the future.

“As for the cultivation of the Dharma, the roots of my Meiji Mountain Dharma are in the great way of yin and yang, and are based on the way of resurrecting the dead. From this, it extends to the Pure Yang, corpse transformation, resurrection, ghost control, and corpse raising methods.

"In addition, my Meiji Mountain sect can practice all five elements, especially the fire method, wood method, and earth method. Based on the above three methods, we have developed the methods of heart fire, withering and flourishing, and raising corpses. Both wind and thunder can be practiced, but we pay more attention to wind methods, and have developed methods such as wind escape, faith collection, heavenly listening, exorcism, and spiritual travel. Thunder methods also have methods such as divine shouting, refining the spirit, and tempering the body.

"In a nutshell, when you enter our Meiji Mountain, you can eat the five elements, the branches of yin and yang, the wind and thunder, and there are no taboos on eating qi."

Su Kong spoke very quickly, but fortunately Yun Qi had an excellent memory, so he wrote it all down without trying to understand it in detail, and then went back to slowly chew on it and think about it.

"There are several methods of eating qi, including breathing, sitting and forgetting, stepping, hand gestures, praying, external alchemy, and visualization. The first five are ultimately body formations. The human body forms a body formation through breathing, sitting in meditation, walking, hand seals, chanting mantras, etc. Once the body formation is formed, spiritual energy will naturally be attracted.

"Your Tongmai Stretch Meridian Exercise is actually the Bugang Method.

“External alchemy is to rely on external forces, including taking pills, eating, taking medicinal baths, etc., needless to say.

"The visualization method is more mysterious. You should know that there is such a kind of air in the world that can only be ingested by special spirits of a certain species. For example, the true fire of the sun has always been exclusive to the Golden Crow clan, but it has long been extinct. For example, the miasma in the mountains and forests is a very poisonous thing. It is extremely difficult for cultivators like us to refine it into a magic weapon, but the goblins and pythons in the mountains can ingest it as usual. The green lichen is a kind of air that blends the earth and wood. It is very useful for alchemy. Only the green sheep, green cattle, and green deer can eat it.

"With such spiritual energy, the physical formation is useless, so the ancients created the visualization method. This visualization method is ultimately about seeking the truth through the false, observing the essence, energy, and spirit of other spiritual beings, among which the spirit is the most important. In the dark, an illusory spiritual being is sketched out and placed in the acupoints of the physical body. Our Taoist sect calls it the Inner Scenery Spirit, because this method was first derived from the Huangting Inner Scenery Sutra during the Wei and Jin Dynasties. Once the Inner Scenery Spirit appears, there is no need to be deliberate, and you can naturally consume energy with just a few movements."

Yunqi listened quietly for a long time, and when he saw that Sukong seemed to have finished speaking, he asked, "Master, what method of eating air is suitable for me?"

This was the first time Yunqi saw Master Su Kongyu smile, and she only heard her say, "You have to learn everything."

Here is a new book for you. Please leave more messages and comments.
