Chapter 116: Chaotic Potions Class
Della thought of herself as a very patient person, but this time both the heir behind the scenes and Dumbledore in secret were quieter than she expected.
More than half a month had passed since Creevey was attacked, but the heir had not made any move. Della couldn't tell whether he was being more cautious or enjoying the fear on campus, but the fewer incidents there were to investigate, the fewer clues there were to connect.
But what is more concerning is Dumbledore's side. She clearly expressed her attitude unconsciously at the beginning and told Dumbledore the strange snake language that night. It is not difficult to guess that it is a basilisk. No matter how you look at it, she should be the best investigator.
However, Dumbledore never contacted her once, and put the matter of heir and the teaching of alchemy on hold.
Maybe Dumbledore doesn't want to find out the heir right now?
Based on the current situation, Della could only guess this way. In fact, combined with Quirrell's behavior last year, if the heir was related to Voldemort, then it would not be surprising for Dumbledore to do this.
As for Voldemort, what Dumbledore wanted was a foreseeable victory, not the devil's concession under constant pressure.
Della suddenly had an absurd guess. She felt that Dumbledore also wanted Voldemort to be resurrected.
Indeed, compared to Voldemort's current elusive state of neither life nor death, resurrection at least has a clear and targetable state.
Assuming this is Dumbledore's attitude, what actions should I take?
Della held up her face and stared unfocused at the book spread out in front of her. Her calm black eyes darkened and darkened. At this time, Draco beside her poked her and said, "Professor McGonagall is coming."
Hearing this, Della came back to her senses. She pretended to turn a page of the book, and then looked at Professor McGonagall who came over to collect the list of students who would stay in school for Christmas.
To Della's surprise, Draco also planned to stay this time.
As soon as Professor McGonagall arrived at the Gryffindor table, Della nudged Draco with her elbow, "Why don't you go home this time?"
Draco responded to Della's gaze, but did not speak immediately. Instead, he smiled shyly and proudly. It was obvious that he was very satisfied with his decision in front of Della. "I'm just very busy at home recently..."
Listening to Draco's deliberately slow and unsatisfied tone, Della glanced at him with a half-smile, then sat up straight again leisurely, "So that's how it is. I accept this reason."
Draco's eyes widened, obviously not expecting Della's reaction. His face turned redder. He tugged at Della's sleeve under the table, "Ask me again."
Della looked at Draco in cooperation. Seeing the boy's red face full of embarrassment and anxiety, she flicked the prismatic crystal hanging under her collar and smiled, "I know everything, Draco."
This was the talisman he gave to Della. Although Della only wore this crystal in the end, the same crystal also stood under his collar.
Draco's face turned even redder, but he also smiled. "It's good that you know," he muttered, lowered his head and returned to the book, but it was hard to say how many words he could read.
When it was time for Potions class in the afternoon, Della went to the Potions classroom with Draco as usual. As soon as she entered the classroom, she noticed the trio's quick avoidance of gazes.
Della felt something was strange and instinctively knew they were going to do something. She glanced at the trio who were pretending to be relaxed, then looked at Professor Snape who had a sullen face on the podium. Ultimately, her desire to watch the show got the better of her, and she led Draco to the seat on the diagonal farthest from the trio.
"Why are you sitting here?" Draco looked back at where Harry was reluctantly. He still liked to watch the lions being bullied by Snape up close in Potions class.
"Today we're going to make a swelling potion. If you get any of it on your body, you'll suffer." Dela reached out to the bottles and jars of materials on the table one by one, picked up a small sharp knife and made two light gestures. "Don't you want to stay away from clumsy people?"
Hearing these words that were very pleasing to him, Draco nodded with satisfaction. He hummed and started to process the materials with Della.
The background music of the Potions class was, as usual, Snape's sarcastic words. He would make a few sarcastic remarks to anyone who made a stupid mistake, but he would be particularly rude when speaking to Gryffindors.
"Mr. Potter, it's so watery, are you boiling water? Humph, I guess your brain is the same as this pot of soup, all water."
"How many pufferfish eyes are these, Mr. Longbottom? I'll give you a try on the potion you brewed later."
"They should all try it," Draco muttered, trying hard to hold back his laughter, causing his hands to shake as he stirred the potion with the spoon.
Della noticed Draco's movement. She didn't say anything and continued to stir the steaming potion in front of her without looking away. Suddenly, there was a loud bang next to her ear.
She looked in the direction of the sound, not caring about Draco who suddenly hugged her. Seeing the splashing potion about to fall here, Della subconsciously raised her hand, "Air barrier!"
The spell was cast hastily and had a small coverage area, only covering the people at a few tables on her side. Most of the potion still splashed onto the students. Along with the scream, there was a cry of surprise from behind Della.
"Wandless magic!"
This was shouted by Ernie McMillan who was sitting at the table behind Della. As he shouted, Draco, who had been hugging her and trying to protect her with his back, immediately let go of his arms and sat up straight with a red face.
Everyone's eyes were focused on Della, and Theodore, who was standing behind Ernie, who was also protected, looked at her particularly eagerly.
In this situation, Della only had time to cast her eyes towards the trio for a moment. When she realized that Hermione was gone, she immediately lowered her eyes and smiled embarrassedly, "Professor Snape is a very powerful wizard."
As she said this, she looked at Snape hesitantly.
Snape showed no expression, but he was satisfied with the silence created by Della. He looked at the students who were swollen from the potion and looked even darker. "Be quiet, everyone. If anyone makes another noise, come back to me tomorrow to get the swelling-reducing potion."
The classroom was silent for a moment. Under Snape's pressure, the students walked away with their mouths shut. However, there were too many people who touched the potion, so the podium was still crowded.
"Are you okay?" While most people were going to Snape to get the antidote, Draco pulled Della up and looked her up.
"Just based on the way you hugged me just now, I'll be fine." Della smiled gently and patted Draco's back lightly.
"It's a good thing you're so capable." Draco had just said this when Ernie interrupted the conversation.
"Thank you so much, Della, otherwise I would have suffered a lot." Ernie said to Della. His brown hair was as meticulous as Draco's, but his black eyes were much friendlier.
With Ernie's start, everyone who was just under the barrier came to thank Della. If Snape hadn't been watching on the stage, many people would have walked up to her and chatted with her.
By the time Della finished this round of social conversation, Hermione, who had just disappeared, returned to her seat, and Snape had distributed the antidote to almost half of the class.
Then everyone watched Snape scoop out the twisted black ashes of fireworks from Goyle's cauldron. Snape's face became even worse, and after he gave a death glare, his eyes fell on Harry.
"As soon as I find out who threw it," Snape whispered, staring at Harry, "I will fire that person."
"Also, Della's wandless magic today reduced the scale of the commotion, so Slytherin gets ten points." Snape said this, and walked back to the podium, shaking his robes.
Ten minutes later, the bell rang for the end of get out of class, and the trio hurried out. Della, who had made an excuse to Draco in advance, followed them silently until they reached a secluded staircase, where she called out to the three panicking people.
Looking at the three frightened little faces, Della raised her eyebrows imperceptibly and smiled, "Let's talk?"
As she said this, the Gryffindors on the opposite side became visibly more panicked.
