Chapter 128 Halfway through the Holiday

The professors did not lower their standards despite the unrest in the school and assigned a lot of homework. Now that the vacation is halfway over, Della and Draco are still writing the last small part of the homework.

Della could finish her homework quickly, but in order to accompany Draco, she would read quietly aside after completing her scheduled homework every day. They would not find something to do together until Draco finished his task.

"Lockhart... another hymn..." Draco muttered as he wrote. He moved the pen quickly and impatiently, not caring at all about the words that were connected and difficult to recognize. He said that it would be better if no one knew that he had written these things.

'It is gratifying that there are many wizards who claim to be Muggle-born. However, if they can describe the Muggle world more objectively, instead of only emphasizing their Muggle ancestry after mentioning extreme dark wizards, I think their demands are simpler.'

While Draco was mumbling, Della reread the book "Mud, Dirt and Land". The structure of this book was more interesting than the average book on equality. It not only demonstrated the origin of discrimination based on blood lineage, but also used some examples to illustrate that "in some political environments, Muggle blood has become an election advantage". However, its author, Leon Romanovich Isaev, himself did not seem to like this.

If Della did not misinterpret Isaev's sarcastic words, what he meant was that "using inequality to gain power will only exacerbate inequality." However, he did not overemphasize this point, probably because he knew that without a voice, there will only be continued inequality.

This book should be more in the category of social activities. Della didn't know much about it. The books she read in the library only told her the political inclinations of previous politicians. She could probably understand a little bit of Isaev's intention in writing what he defined as "hemp superiority."

Isaev's point in the last section is that 'there must be an environment in which people realize that there is no essential difference not only between Mudbloods, Half-bloods and Pure-bloods, but also between Muggles and wizards'.

His focus on "land" is that wizards and Muggles are on the same land (he did not write this in the introduction, which seems to be a bit of a fraud in his views), and the politicians he has seen who promote Muggle blood rarely address blood discrimination after taking office, let alone accept Muggles.

However, the slogan of accepting Muggles is still quite niche in the wizarding world.

Overall, this is a book in which a dreamer criticizes the environment and speculators. Although some of its statements are indeed radical, the writing style that combines slogans and conspiracies is unexpectedly to Della's liking.

Even in terms of opinions, Della is not very opposed.

"Phew! I finally finished it!"

Draco put down his pen as if relieved, and Della closed the book calmly and put it away. Although she knew that Draco had no interest in the book she was reading, it was better not to let anyone know that she was reading such a book.

"Congratulations, you're freed from Lockhart's hell," Della joked first, then suggested to Draco, "Why don't you go to the kitchenette for some snacks? There's Christmas mousse today."

"That's great, but it would be great if we were a year older so we could go to the Hogsmeade restaurant and have something nice to eat," Draco said as he started to clean up.

"Maybe next year I can ask Professor Snape to let me go back to Spinner's End, and we can go on a date in Diagon Alley." Della added, and she quickly packed her things.

Hearing this, Draco's face turned red for a moment, and then he insisted to Della, "We are dating now! Every day!"

"You're right, Draco." Della raised the corners of her lips and narrowed her eyes with a smile.

"Hmph..." Draco snorted shyly and proudly. He packed up his things, blushed, and walked out of the library holding Della's hand.

They were not walking fast. Draco complained to Della about Crabbe and Goyle's poor performance in the past few days. Della listened but did not say anything. She just responded to Draco's words. When they were about to turn the stairs, they heard a familiar voice.

"How could it be Hagrid? Is there only one half-giant in the world?" It was Harry, and he sounded a little indignant.

Draco stopped complaining for a moment. He subconsciously looked at Della and met the girl's slightly widened eyes that were looking at him as well.

"But other descriptions... maybe that's why she couldn't say it before?" Hermione's hesitant voice also sounded, but this time the voice was obviously much farther away.

Della and Draco also turned the stairs at this time and saw the backs of the Gryffindor trio walking towards the hall. At this time, their voices were no longer so clear, but it could be seen that they were arguing about something.

"Everyone can see that the big idiot has giant blood. Why are they fighting over this?" Draco muttered. After the guilty feeling of eavesdropping faded away, he felt a little regretful that he couldn't say a few words to sneer at them just now.

It would feel nice to say to them, "What? The school gave you extra homework to research the bloodline of stupid giants?"

But if Della was around, there was no point in regretting it. After all, I couldn't do this in front of her.

Draco suddenly felt very frustrated.

"..." Della pretended not to hear Draco's muttering. She looked at Draco with a normal expression, "Let's go to the kitchenette quickly so that we can taste the finale of tonight's dessert before everyone else. Quasi and Nella will treat us well."

The words 'before everyone' caught Draco's attention very well. He nodded and immediately threw away the emotion just now. "Let's go, I have to reward myself for finishing my homework."

Della also smiled and nodded, and they continued to walk downstairs. But when they were about to turn into the next staircase, Della raised her eyes and glanced quickly towards the auditorium.

Sure enough, Hermione guessed Hagrid. Della didn't know if this was the right direction to get to the truth, but she was sure the trio would investigate further.

In this regard, snakes are not like lions. After determining the target, snakes lurking in the shadows will spend more time observing their prey.

There is no doubt that Della had many areas of investigation before, such as the bathroom where Myrtle died fifty years ago, Hagrid's suspicion, and even if she tried hard, she might be able to visit Malfoy Manor and investigate Malfoy the elder.

However, when facing possible enemies in the dark, Della didn't want to put herself in the spotlight, let alone take risks alone.

Besides, the truth is just the skin of the prey this time. Rather than peeling off the skin, hunting requires the ability to resist the truth behind it.

Della guessed from the beginning that the heir who controlled the basilisk hidden in the school might have some relationship with Voldemort, but he never came to see her once, which was not reasonable.

After all, Voldemort would not know that she had lifted the Unbreakable Vow. If the heir had not come to find her despite the huge restrictions placed on her, Della would have to think of other possibilities.

Although she still felt that this was related to Voldemort, she really couldn't come up with a reasonable guess. In this situation, it made her more cautious.

As for the person in the dark whose background she has no idea about, Della would rather wait for him to come to her on his own, provided there is no conflict of interest.

But before that, she needs to make more preparations and backup plans.
