Chapter 228 The cycle of cause and effect, retribution
Chapter 228 The cycle of cause and effect, retribution
Taibai Jinxing pondered for a long time and finally made a decision.
He took out a jade slip, focused his mind on it, and quickly wrote a memorial. He then handed the jade slip to a heavenly general.
"Send this secret report to the Lingxiao Palace and report it to the Jade Emperor!"
The heavenly general took the jade slip, stepped on the auspicious clouds and slowly rose into the air, flying towards the southern sky.
Wen Rui couldn't help but feel secretly delighted, but he managed his expression very well and didn't show it. He just nodded slowly and said, "That's right. We just need to do what we should do. We can't ignore the majesty of heaven just because the other party is a Western Buddhist Bodhisattva."
"My dear brother, what you said is absolutely right. I am grateful for your reminder. I should act according to the rules. No matter whether he is a mortal or a bodhisattva, his survival, death, prosperity and decline are all decided by the emperor!"
Taibai Jinxing had a straight face and a businesslike manner, and said indifferently: "All the bad consequences should not be borne by us."
At this moment, the sound of Zen suddenly came from the sky, and a pleasant and gentle female voice sounded.
"Wait a minute, wait a minute. Immortal Taibai, please listen to what I have to say. I will report to the Jade Emperor soon."
Hearing the call, Wen Rui was shocked and quickly took a step back without making a sound, returning to the side of the other sect leaders.
The immortals on the Jinling looked in the direction of the sound, and saw auspicious clouds gathering in the southern sky. On the clouds was a solemn and graceful nun in white. She wore a crown on her head, a celestial robe on her body, and a close-fitting silk skirt around her waist. She stood on a lotus platform, holding a glazed jade bottle in her hand.
The celestial general who was ordered to go and report the news was standing on the clouds with the white-robed monk, but was being blocked by her and had not yet ascended to heaven.
Taibai Jinxing quickly greeted him and said, "Greetings to Bodhisattva Guanyin."
The leaders of the four major sects also bowed respectfully, and Wen Rui was among them, and followed suit.
Wen Rui certainly recognized Guanyin. He had a bad feeling when he saw her show up. He also hadn't expected that this great god would get involved. So all his evil schemes would have no hope of success.
But if you think about it carefully, the appearance of Guanyin Bodhisattva is definitely not accidental.
The status of this great Bodhisattva in the Western Religion is similar to that of Taibai Jinxing in the Heavenly Palace. He is a special envoy of Tathagata, who is specifically responsible for showing up in public and doing things on behalf of the Western Religion.
If she had arrived a step later, the Heavenly Court would have really sent the Heavenly Army to attack the branch sects of the Western religion, and the difficulty of diplomatic mediation between the two sides would have risen sharply.
Neither the Heavenly Palace nor the Western religion will admit their mistakes. This involves the determination of good and evil, and determines the incense and offerings of all living beings for generations to come. Neither side will give in.
Guanyin Bodhisattva chose the perfect time to intervene, before things developed to the point of being tit-for-tat and irreversible.
Guanyin descended from the clouds on a lotus platform and landed on the deck of the Jinling. She raised one hand and performed a Buddhist salute to Taibai Jinxing.
"Great Master Guanyin, why are you stopping me from reporting to the Jade Emperor?"
Guanyin smiled and said, "I have long heard of the dispute between the Chan and Jie sects and my sect, and have deduced the cause and effect. I have come here at this time to mediate the misunderstanding and resolve the grievances."
"dispute?"
Taibai Jinxing shook his head and said, "Forgive me for speaking frankly. The crimes committed by the disciples of Great Joy Bodhisattva have been proven beyond doubt. The testimonies of the victims are too painful to read. The tragic scenes have angered the heavens and the people, and all living beings are suffering beyond words."
His attitude hardened, and he pointed to the Happy Zen Temple below, saying righteously: "I, on behalf of the Heavenly Court, read out the Jade Emperor's reprimanding edict, but was rejected by that crazy monk. What misunderstanding was there? Now that the Bodhisattva is here, please help me break the magic circle that he has set up to protect the mountain gate, so that I can deliver the Jade Emperor's edict to him."
"It's not that the Bodhisattva of Joy is disrespectful to the Jade Emperor, but every sip and bite is destined, and the Immortal Official Taibai is not the one who will be punished for his misfortune."
Facing the accusation, Guanyin Bodhisattva was not annoyed and said with a smile: "My religion is born and dies, and everything is caused by fate. Great Joy Bodhisattva is waiting for another destined person to pass on the imperial edict. If he doesn't see that person, his obsession will not go away, and the mountain protection formation cannot be broken even if I take action." Taibai Jinxing was stunned and said in astonishment: "I am the special envoy of the Heavenly Court. Great Joy Bodhisattva refused to accept the holy edict passed by me. Who is he waiting for?"
"Far away in the sky, yet close at hand." Guanyin Bodhisattva smiled and shifted her gaze to Wen Rui.
Reminded by the Bodhisattva, Taibai Jinxing also looked at Wen Rui.
The four confused clan leaders also looked on.
Wen Rui felt his scalp tingling as he was stared at by a group of gods, but he could do nothing about it.
In the end, he underestimated the gods and Buddhas of the world. He should have realized that he had caused such a big stir in the mortal world, carrying out propaganda and mobilization to expose the dark materials of Western religions everywhere. How could Guanyin Bodhisattva, who has the honorific title of "Guanyin", turn a blind eye and turn a deaf ear to it?
It’s just that the timing of intervention was wrong, and it would cause unnecessary major consequences, so Guanyin Bodhisattva did not appear.
Now that the situation has reached the most critical point, she has finally arrived.
Wen Rui reluctantly spread his hands and said, "Buddha, let's not beat around the bush. The Long-eared Dingguang Immortal hates me to the core, so he naturally wants to lure me into his lair so that he can die with me. But why should I fulfill his wish?"
"Even a great bodhisattva like you can't break his mountain protection formation. There are people in heaven with profound Taoism who can break it."
"I can remain invincible if I just wait and see what happens. Why should I go and die?"
As he said this, Wen Rui crossed his arms and turned his head away, not giving Guanyin Bodhisattva any face at all.
"Wen Rui, as you said, honest people don't speak in secret."
Bodhisattva Guanyin narrowed her eyes. Although she was smiling, her tone was a little heavier: "I have deduced the past and the cause and effect. It is you who disturbed the cause and effect and cut off the great opportunity for Bodhisattva Dahuanxi to become a Buddha, causing chaos in the heavens and hidden disasters. The person who tied the bell must untie it. If you want to avoid turmoil in the three realms, you, the person who tied the bell, should not refuse."
After hearing what Guanyin said, Wen Rui deduced that she knew about his secret dealings, so he narrowed his eyes and sneered, "You can ask me to go see the Long-eared Dingguang Immortal, but I have to ask the Bodhisattva to answer a question for me first."
"Just ask."
"Does the Tathagata know what the disciples of the Happy Zen sect have done over the past five hundred years?"
The Bodhisattva lowered his head and replied helplessly: "Great Joy Bodhisattva stole the Six Soul Banner. The names of two saints of our Western Religion, Huai Ti and Jie Yin, were written on the tail of the banner. If the Six Soul Banner is shaken, the lives of the two saints will be destroyed, and the lineage of our religion will be cut off."
"Allowing him to become a Buddha is not to reward him for stealing the banner, but to repay him for his kindness in extending the existence of my lineage."
“If good karma is not repaid, then cause and effect will not be complete, and the foundation of our religion will not exist.”
“There are also people whom the Buddha cannot save, not because he is unwilling to save them.”
At this point, Guanyin Bodhisattva raised his head, looked at Wen Rui, and said slowly: "His good karma with my sect is the bad result of your sect. Causes and conditions come and go, cause and effect are cyclical, and retribution is inevitable. Looking through the three realms, the only one who has the fate to cut off his Buddhahood is none other than Sect Master Wen."
After hearing the conversation between Wen Rui and Guanyin Bodhisattva, Taibai Jinxing and the four sect leaders were completely confused and had no idea what kind of riddle they were talking about.
But he could also faintly hear that it seemed to be related to an incident in the past between the Western Religion and the Jie Religion during the Great Tribulation of the Conferred Gods five hundred years ago.
Wen Rui curled his lips and stretched out his hand to Taibai Jinxing, which startled the other party.
"Don't you understand yet? Brother Chang Geng, the Bodhisattva of Great Joy has locked himself up and is only willing to see me. I will deliver the Jade Emperor's decree to him so that he can confess his crime in person."
