Chapter 229 Recommending Saints is the Job of Civil Servants
Wen Rui didn't want to see the Long-eared Dingguang Immortal.
If Wen Rui had not interfered, Chang'er Dingguang Immortal would have been able to attain Buddhahood smoothly. But now he can't even maintain his position as a Bodhisattva.
If you put yourself in their shoes, the hatred between the two of them is really too great.
If Wen Rui was the long-eared Dingguang immortal, he would be torn into pieces after seeing me, but he would not be able to get rid of the hatred in his heart.
But nine out of ten things in this world are not as we wish. When Guanyin Bodhisattva comes to his door, it is no longer up to him to decide whether to see her or not.
Tathagata's attitude has been conveyed to the Heavenly Palace, the Orthodox Sect, and the Demonic Sect through Guanyin. The Western Church will not do its best to protect the Long-Eared Dingguang Immortal, but it will not take the initiative to clean up the sect either.
The reason is very simple. The reason for the continuation of Western religion is due to the theft of the banner by the immortal Chang'er Dingguang.
But the current situation forces both the Western Church and the Heavenly Court to confront each other, and neither side will give in and the stalemate continues. If they don't fight, I'm afraid the matter will not end well.
The good deeds done by Wen Rui, the instigator, could be hidden from the Heavenly Court, which did not pay much attention to the mundane affairs of the world, but could not be hidden from the Western religions, at least not from Guanyin Bodhisattva.
In terms of human relations and political tactics, the level of Western religion is much higher than that of the Heavenly Court. Guanyin Bodhisattva sees through it but does not say it, and plays a witty game with Wen Rui.
Otherwise, he would not have been able to reap the benefits of the Conferred God Tribulation, and later on, he would not have persuaded the Heavenly Court to fully cooperate during the Journey to the West Tribulation.
This is clearly an action to promote Buddhism. The Heavenly Court needs people to provide them, and to complete the eighty-one tribulations, they put forward scapegoats to make up the numbers.
Taibai Jinxing seemed to realize something and handed the scroll of the Jade Emperor's edict to Wen Rui.
Taking the scroll, Wen Rui stretched out his hand towards the Bodhisattva without hesitation, with his palm facing up and his fingers hooked.
"Bring it here."
The Bodhisattva was confused by his action and frowned, "What does this mean?"
"Great Master Guanyin, the Happy Zen Temple is a dangerous place. As a mortal, it is very dangerous to go there, and my life may be in jeopardy."
Wen Rui said as a matter of course: "No matter how the Bodhisattva deduces and calculates, the Great Joy Bodhisattva is ultimately guilty of his own fault. I went there with the Jade Emperor's order to save you from disasters and misfortunes. How dare you lie to me and tell me to die?"
Guanyin Bodhisattva smiled, rolled her eyes at him and said, "There have been rumors in the human world that you have never suffered any loss since you were young, but you have caused all these troubles. The Buddha doesn't blame you, so you are right. Now, what do you want?"
"I think your bottle is pretty good..."
The Bodhisattva glared at him and said, "You are a connoisseur. You took a fancy to the magic weapon that helped me achieve enlightenment. You should know that this bottle has nothing to do with your life, so how can you just covet it? If you want to save your life, I will give it to you. If you are in a place that hurts your body and makes you suffer, or if it is difficult to escape, I will come to save you myself."
Guanyin Bodhisattva personally promised to save his life, but Wen Rui was still not satisfied. He shook his head and said, "You Western monks are good at making lies, but you are too stingy when it comes to doing things. You even give three life-saving hairs to a monkey, but when it comes to me, I won't give you a penny?"
He lowered his voice and said, "Don't think I don't know what you are planning. If I die at the hands of the Long-eared Dingguang Immortal, before my soul can reach the underworld, you will stop it and trick me into saying that I have a predestined relationship with the Western Religion and take me there to achieve enlightenment."
Bodhisattva Guanyin was stunned by what he said and did not refute.
Monks do not lie, and silence is equal to acquiescence. Wen Rui knew that his test was just what Guanyin Bodhisattva was thinking. Wen Rui stretched out his hand and hooked his fingers again. Guanyin Bodhisattva was forced to do nothing, so she plucked three leaves from the willow branch inserted in the jade bottle, sighed secretly, and placed them on Wen Rui's palm.
"It's a pity, it's a pity..."
Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara shook his head and said slowly, "Wenrui, you have a deep affinity with the Buddha and have realized the path of the Pratyekabuddha. If you enter my teachings, you will be able to attain the status of a Pratyekabuddha. If you continue to practice the Bodhisattva path, you will eventually achieve the status of a Buddha, which is higher than that of this poor monk. But how can you explain it? All affinity and dharma are empty!"
Wen Rui rolled his eyes and thought to himself, if I became a Buddha, the system would immediately judge my mission as a failure, deprive me of all my cultivation achievements, and send me to the eighteen levels of hell to suffer. It would be such a loss for me to become a Buddha.
After taking the three willow leaves, Wen Rui felt a little more at ease.
These three willow leaves have been tempered and nurtured in the jade bottle by Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva for countless years, and they are of infinite use. However, Wen Rui asked for them not for the purpose of greedily taking possession of these treasures, but to ask Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva to make a promise.
That is, you cannot wait until he dies to rescue him, you must keep your promise and take action in time when he is in danger.
It's not that Wen Rui is conceited. If Guanyin Bodhisattva observes him for a long time, he will definitely understand his value.
According to the tradition of Western religions that they like to bring "people with affinity" into the religion, his name should have been on the list of "Buddha affinity in the Three Realms" long ago, but there was no opportunity to recruit him.
In this magical world, death is not the end, but a new beginning.
Wen Rui was more careful and guessed Guanyin Bodhisattva's intention. If she had agreed to save him, she could have waited until Wen Rui was dead before rescuing him.
The Western religion has a reincarnation pond. When a soul enters the pond, it can rebuild its golden body and be reincarnated into the paradise. Then it will be naturally led into Buddhism.
Wen Rui controlled the Iron Man armor to fly high into the sky, started the jump engine, and a flash of rainbow light broke through the space barrier.
The next moment, below the Golden Spirit, in the courtyard of the Happy Zen Temple, which was covered by the shield of the mountain protection formation, a hexagonal space door opened, and Wen Rui appeared inside the shield.
Taibai Jinxing was extremely surprised. The supernatural power of traveling through space is called "flying body and tracking" in the Thirty-Six Tiangang Methods. Among the gods in heaven, not many can display this supernatural power.
The four sect leaders showed signs of realization. Xue Bao muttered, "No wonder Bodhisattva Guanyin said that Sect Leader Wen is the destined one. He has long demonstrated his ability to fly and move freely. Didn't the flying boats used to transport troops in this battle have such ingenious devices? He is the only one who can pass through the mountain protection array and enter the Zen temple."
After hearing his words, Bodhisattva Guanyin just lowered his head and smiled without saying anything.
Taibai Jinxing came close to the Bodhisattva and whispered, "Although I only understood a few words, I also realized that Lingshan is quite interested in recruiting my Taoist disciple Wen Rui. After completing the task and returning to the Heavenly Palace, I must report everything to the Jade Emperor to prevent our Taoist talents from being repeatedly used by the Western Religion."
The Bodhisattva frowned slightly and turned his head away, ignoring him.
Taibai Jinxing was unwilling to give up, and continued: "I will investigate it myself, but I don't know when I can find out the reason. I might as well ask the Bodhisattva in person. May I ask Guanyin Bodhisattva, what special qualities did the Western Sect see in Brother Wen?"
As he spoke, he even pretended to bow and saluted, solemnly putting on an attitude of being studious and inquisitive: "Please tell me clearly, Great Bodhisattva, so that when I report to the Jade Emperor, my words will be meaningful, so that I can recommend talents to the Heavenly Court, be loyal to the Jade Emperor, and benefit all living beings."
Guanyin Bodhisattva's face darkened, and she was about to say something, but Taibai Jinxing smiled and waved his hand, saying:
"Bodhisattva, monks do not tell lies. You have a great bodhi mind of great compassion to save people from suffering, but you cannot abandon an act that benefits the common people for personal reasons. You will not deceive me, will you?"
