Chapter 230 Entering the Joyful Zen Temple
Chapter 230 Entering the Joyful Zen Temple
As the chief civil servant in front of Lingxiao Palace, Taibai Jinxing has nothing to do with the killing and conquest of the Heavenly Dao.
Whether the Western religion goes to war with the Heavenly Court or not, and what the outcome of the war is, it will not affect his promotion or demotion.
However, recommending talented people and appeasing demons and fairies are his responsibilities, which can be directly transformed into political achievements.
A powerful monkey, he took the trouble to give advice and personally went to the emperor to seek peace, just to earn this real credit.
Taibai Jinxing knew very little about Wen Rui. He only knew that he had a very strong background in the Heavenly Court and had close relations with many great immortals and gods.
Making friends with him and doing a good job on the surface are the basic qualities of being an official in heaven. Deep down, they just regard him as the second generation of a top-notch god with first-class reincarnation skills.
For such people, you can only make friends with them and not offend them.
Because although they have no real ability and are unable to accomplish anything, they are more than capable of ruining the future of the immortal officials.
After listening to the conversation between Guanyin Bodhisattva and Wen Rui with a half-understanding, the meticulous Taibai Jinxing immediately noticed something and seemed to have discovered an opportunity to make a contribution.
No matter what talents Wen Rui has, since the Western Church is optimistic about him and is trying to recruit him, it will not be wrong for the Heavenly Court to appoint him as an official first.
To put it another way, Western religions have made a mistake.
Taibai Jinxing can also make friends with the gods of the Thunder Department and the Dou Department by recommending the son of Wen Tianzun and the disciple-grandson of Dou Mu Yuanjun.
The fact that the Western Church looked favorably upon Wen Rui was also a good reason for recommending him, so that when he made his remarks to the Jade Emperor, he did not seem to be trying so hard to please Wen Tianzun and Yuanjun Niangniang, thus avoiding the suspicion of forming a clique for personal gain.
This old man was well versed in officialdom and had a thick skin tempered by time, so he simply asked the question directly to Guanyin Bodhisattva, claiming that she had attained the Bodhi fruit position and could not lie against her conscience.
Although Guanyin Bodhisattva had a smile on his face, his eyes were sharper. He said without any sadness or joy, "Buddha has five true knowledges, which are five kinds of learning that all Buddhist disciples must master. They are the knowledge of craftsmanship, the knowledge of medicine, the knowledge of grammar, the knowledge of cause and effect, and the knowledge of inner wisdom."
"Wen Rui's craftsmanship and medical knowledge are unmatched in the three realms. He uses his craftsmanship and medical knowledge to enter the Tao, benefiting the world for generations and helping all living beings. If you enter our Buddhist sect, you can immediately attain the fruit of Pratyekabuddha."
At this point, she raised her eyes and looked at Taibai Jinxing with a burning gaze: "If he is recruited by the Heavenly Court to be an official, even if he can decorate himself with supreme splendor and prolong his immortal life for billions of years with his medical skills, what benefit will it bring to all living beings? It is a sin, a sin!"
A Pratyekabuddha is born in a world without Buddha. Because of his nature of being quiet, or practicing asceticism, he has no teacher or friend to guide him, but he uses wisdom to attain enlightenment on his own, observes the twelve links of dependent origination, and then gains enlightenment and is liberated from birth and death and attains the fruit of enlightenment.
Three Vehicles of Buddhism.
The first vehicle is the Śrāvakayāna, which is the Hinayana Buddhism, corresponding to the Arhat level.
The third vehicle is the Bodhisattva vehicle, which is the Mahayana Buddhism, corresponding to the fruition of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.
The second vehicle is the Pratyekabuddha vehicle, which is the attainment of enlightenment through observing the twelve links of dependent origination on its own without hearing the Buddha’s teachings. It corresponds to the Pratyekabuddha stage.
After the great calamity of the Conferred Gods, the orthodox sages of the teachings, such as Cihang, Manjusri, Samantabhadra, and Dipankara, converted to the Western teachings. They first attained the status of Pratyekabuddha, and then developed bodhi minds and practiced the bodhisattva ways, and finally attained the status of bodhisattvas and Buddhas.
Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara is a great Bodhisattva of the Exoteric School. She strictly abides by the rules and regulations and would never violate the precept of lying. She could only reveal her evaluation of Wen Rui in detail.
"Master Wen's extraordinary skills and medical skills are indeed impressive, and I admire them very much, but..."
Chang Qing Zhenren, who was listening at the side with his ears perked up, couldn't help but say, "Is it really as exaggerated as what Guanyin Bodhisattva said? I am also quite knowledgeable in medicine and skilled in refining tools. Could it be that I also have the Buddhist fate to attain the status of Pratyekabuddha?"
The Bodhisattva glanced at him and said in a cold voice: "Even if your alchemy furnace and refining skills can refine immortal pills and immortal treasures, can you let all sentient beings in the three realms benefit from them?"
"Ah this..." Chang Qing Zhenren was speechless for a moment: "I am willing to develop the Bodhi mind, but the spiritual herbs and immortal materials in the world are scarce, and it is difficult to live up to everyone's expectations."
“If you don’t save sentient beings, you will never become a Buddha.”
After saying this, Guanyin Bodhisattva began to practice silent meditation, observing his mouth through his nose and his heart through his mouth.
The four great leaders looked at each other in bewilderment. This time, with Guanyin Bodhisattva endorsing Wen Rui's ability, their understanding of Wen Rui was refreshed. Taibai Jinxing's eyes flickered, and he lowered his head to think, thinking about what official position to recommend for Wen Rui in front of the Jade Emperor.
As for the warning from Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva that the Heavenly Court's expedition to suppress the auspicious gods would be of no benefit to sentient beings, Taibai Jinxing just ignored it.
How can the benefit to all living beings be as important as the benefit to heaven, or as his successful career?
The imperial court on earth still has concerns about the decline of people's livelihood and the weakening of national strength, or the boiling public resentment.
There are no taboos in heaven. If a mortal wants to rebel against heaven, he must first learn to fly.
The unruly people who can't fly, squatting on the ground and cursing the evil heaven, can't hurt the gods at all.
After much deliberation, Taibai Jinxing made up his mind.
Wen Rui was recommended to heaven to supervise the construction of cruise ships on the Milky Way, palaces and halls for the Jade Emperor, and he was the most suitable person for the job.
Not only can it please the Jade Emperor, it is also a lucrative position and can help one further befriend Wen Rui.
Kill two birds with one stone, get the job done and do a favor at the same time.
Thinking of this, Taibai Jinxing stroked his long beard and smiled with satisfaction.
Seeing that he looked pleased, Guanyin Bodhisattva standing by sighed secretly again.
……
In the courtyard in front of the Huanxi Zen Temple, Wen Rui carefully turned on the scanning equipment and conducted a comprehensive and thorough scan of the environment he was in.
He had no choice but to be cautious.
Even though Chang'er Dingguangxian had not attained the status of a bodhisattva, he was already in the realm of a golden immortal before entering the Western religion. I wonder how much higher he was than Wenrui, a mere mortal.
Although during this period Wen Ruiren relied on the power of the golden cudgel to repeatedly launch sneak attacks on celestial beings and true immortals.
But facing a golden immortal, one cannot be overconfident.
The most crucial thing is that in the Huanxi Zen Temple, the lair of Chang'er Dingguangxian, even the network signal is blocked by the mountain protection formation, and the home advantage is completely lost.
Observing this Zen temple, it is no different from any other Buddhist temple. The temple is silent and there are no monks to be seen.
The Zen temple has one gate and three halls. Wen Rui directly jumped through the space and passed through the mountain gate. Now he was standing in front of the main hall.
The front and back doors of the Main Hall are all open. What is enshrined in the hall is the golden body of Tathagata. The images of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are arranged in a circle along the walls around the hall.
Looking closely, Wen Rui discovered that the statue of Great Joy Bodhisattva was not placed in the main hall.
After passing the Main Hall and going out through the back door, you will see the back hall of Huanxi Zen Temple.
The door to the rear hall was still open. Looking through the doorway, I saw the sixteen-armed image of Mahamati Bodhisattva holding his consort on the altar.
Wen Rui quietly swallowed his saliva, calmed himself, stepped forward, and crossed the threshold of the back hall.
As he took a step forward, he felt the world spinning around him, as if time and space were dislocated just across the door.
The scene in the hall suddenly turned upside down. The Buddhist temple, hall and statues were all distorted and blurred. All that could be seen in front of the eyes was a strange color block of dim yellow and deep red.
