Chapter 255 Incompetence and Trouble
The Holt family rented three-fifths of the first site to set up camp for the teachers and students of Beauxbatons and the invited guests of the assembly. The tent booked in the name of Riddle was also set up early in the morning. It was originally just an ordinary tent, but after welcoming the first Riddle last night, the tent was covered with snakes.
Maggie chose a rather flamboyant approach.
Trevor had brought him no good news about Voldemort.
Della was trying to guess Maggie's thoughts through the tent. Annika beside her had a red face and shining eyes, and she was chattering about the grand occasion of last night's gathering. Leah, who was wearing sunglasses behind her, seemed expressionless, but actually leaned forward quietly, listening to the magic gathering she failed to attend.
Della Riddle's unabashed and open appearance in the wizarding world of Country Y was, of course, explosive news that attracted a lot of attention, but she showed up too early, just enough to have some peace and quiet.
To be honest, this quietness was beyond Della's expectations.
After all, from Della's perception, her appearance was not sudden, she filled out the declaration seriously.
"Isn't the Ministry of Magic of Country Y promoting the gold and silver letter series?" When Leah opened the tent to let the two girls go in first, Della glanced at the deserted outside and asked Annika as they walked.
"The Ministry of Magic in Country Y is implementing this as a trial, and it is currently only being implemented in a small number of offices," Annika replied immediately. "As far as I know, the working methods in the Ministry of Magic in Country Y have basically not changed."
If it was still the old complicated and laborious way of working, then Della could understand why the limited staff could not pay special attention to 'Della Riddle' among a hundred thousand names.
"Really? This is exactly what the Ministry of Magic of Country Y would do. It makes me feel like I'm home right away," Della laughed mockingly, "How about the rest?"
"Many employees had already started using silver letters before the first new communications law was announced and passed. Country Y couldn't stop this trend," Annika also laughed. She watched Della sit on the sofa in the living room and then sat down with her. "In fact, within Country Y, the gold and silver letter series has only suffered setbacks in the Ministry of Magic and Hogwarts."
"Hogwarts? That's normal..."
Leah had a very serious attitude towards work. She stood behind Della and listened to what the two were doing. She had her sunglasses tucked into her collar again. She had a serious look on her face, and her mind was already wandering around the small second floor, which had an inner space a thousand times larger than the tent.
Magic is so convenient!
She sighed like this when she entered the folding space. After noticing that the furniture inside was also extremely exquisite, she sighed again.
Della is really a young lady!
Just as she was thinking this, the young master that Leah knew appeared.
"Della, you're finally here!" Maggie, wearing a custom-made black robe that showed off her figure and temperament, put her hands on the handrail on the second floor and looked down at his girl. At this moment, he was not wearing a mask, and his handsome face smiled gently, "We have been apart for a long time this time!"
"It shouldn't be so long that I need you to act out a sentimental scene with me, right?" Della said rudely, but she stood up honestly. She smiled faintly and walked to the stairs to the second floor, where she gave Maggie a small hug as she came down.
Apart from the force majeure in their second year, this was indeed the longest time they had been apart.
Leah raised her eyes, surprised that Della's brother was so similar to her. Annika immediately lowered her head after seeing Maggie's face. She was not shy about the handsome face, she was just subconsciously afraid of this young man.
Even though Maggie had never said or done anything threatening to her, Annika was so frightened that her face turned pale.
"You go back first, Annika, we will meet in the evening." Maggie touched Della's long hair, raised his head to Annika and said gently.
"See you tonight, Annie." Della and Annika waved their hands. Annika forced a smile, her face no longer showing the excitement she had when she was talking to Della, and she ran away.
"What did you do to make Annie so scared of you?" After Annika left, Della slapped away Maggie's hand that was smoothing her hair and asked with a frown.
"I can't do much in one night," Maggie frowned and acted in an impeccable puzzled manner, with an innocent tone. He probably knew that the girl must have seen something she shouldn't have seen in Country M, but this didn't affect his performance. "She's a smart kid. She must have guessed what I am and that's why she's scared."
"After all, she wasn't as respectful to the snake named Maggie as she was to Riddle." Maggie was very good at finding reasonable excuses.
“Dela!!” “Dela!!!”
Two loud screams interrupted the topic at the right time. Quasi and Nella jumped in front of Della. The two house-elves jumped up and down excitedly, clamoring to show Della the gifts from all over the world that they had prepared for her in the past few months.
Della looked at Quasi, who was wearing mountaineering clothes and carrying a camera, and then at Nella, who was wearing jewelry and dressing up carefully. She smiled and squatted down to make her eyes level with theirs. "Have you been happy these past few months?"
"I couldn't be happier!" Quasi excitedly raised the small camera in front of his chest, "I took a lot of photos!"
"And I bought all kinds of jewelry and clothes!" Nella, who loves dressing up, lifted her skirt to show Della, "We also bought a lot of gifts for Della!"
The two house-elves jumped around to show their favorite things to the people they loved most. They were wearing exquisite new clothes. They still looked like house-elves with small bodies and big eyes, but their spirit was completely different from other house-elves who were always bound by their hands and feet, because they had a job that paid them and had no restrictions on their freedom.
With extra money and time, they developed and pursued interests that they were once unable to pursue, and slowly found themselves outside of their best jobs.
And all this started with just 10 Galleons kindly provided by Della.
Kindly...
What a strange word.
Maggie looked down at the two jumping elves, his eyes slightly downcast, as if he was thinking about something, but the corners of his mouth were already raised. He said considerately, "Go to the study. Quasi and Nella have already put away the things they want to give you. Each one has a story."
"Let's go together," Della stood up and waved to Leah who was standing beside her, "The story time in the study is about to start again."
"That's great!" Leah finally showed some of her normal self when Della spoke to her.
"Thank you for taking care of my sister these days, Miss Abend." Maggie nodded to Leah and greeted her at the right time.
"I'm the one who makes the most money," Leah said respectfully and honestly.
"We can temporarily relieve you of your bodyguard status now, Leah," Della smiled, "We won't be seeing outsiders until the game starts tonight."
"Hmm?" Leah looked doubtful, her body already relaxed a little, "I remember that the plan was not like this."
"The careless Ministry of Magic ignored my sister's completely compliant declaration. Of course, our Riddle family is too self-righteous. I guess we are not important enough to be paid special attention to," Maggie sighed lightly as if self-deprecating. "And since they didn't notice this news, others have no way to know my sister's schedule."
"So no one came to see me at the right time just now," Della shook her head and curled her lips not so obviously. "This is the only chance. Riddle won't take the initiative to visit others now, and he won't even send out invitations."
Otherwise it would seem cheap.
Leah blinked, and she said "Oh" as if she suddenly realized something. She immediately put aside all her airs and could no longer restrain her curiosity. "You have to introduce them to me, Della. This is the first time I've seen these little things." She pointed at Quasi and Nella and said.
"No problem, let's go to the study and talk." Della agreed with a smile. As she spoke, she and Maggie met eyes, and the other shook her head slightly at her.
No clues yet.
There is still no clue about the loyal subordinate that Trevor reported Voldemort to be.
They originally planned to use Della's itinerary as a hook to see if that person would reveal some clues. Now it's not easy to make it too obvious, so they had to leak the information through the Ministry of Magic of Country Y. Unexpectedly, the incompetence of the Ministry of Magic of Country Y prevented them from setting the hook.
The situation was not favorable. When Trevor found Voldemort, Pettigrew had helped him kill a female employee of the Ministry of Magic. If Trevor had not provided better conditions and the latest information, he would not have survived Voldemort that day. If he had really had another loyal subordinate...
The key point is that the two of them don't know what Voldemort wants to do now that he refuses to meet Riddle.
It's really troublesome.
Della and Maggie thought together, and a hint of gloom appeared on their similar faces.
