Chapter 320 Someone Launched the Dark Mark
They tried their best to avoid the pursuit of the remaining Death Eaters, passed through the chaotic camp, and hid in the nearby woods.
Finally, we found a relatively hidden place.
There was no one around for the time being. The air was filled with a burning smell and the sound of a commotion could be heard from afar.
But at least they were safe for now.
Draco knelt on one knee, breathing heavily, and Narcissa on his back still hadn't woken up.
Sweat dripped down his forehead. He laid Narcissa on the grass, holding his arms tightly, biting his lower lip, and breathing softly.
"Draco, how are you?" Harry bent down, his face full of worry.
"It's okay... I won't die anyway."
Draco gritted his teeth, his face pale, but he still tried to keep a tough face.
Amanta was about to speak when suddenly, a green light appeared in the night sky in the distance.
A strange green smoke rose into the sky and turned into the shape of a skull. A ferocious snake emerged from the skull's mouth, wriggling slowly, like a malicious eye staring at everything in the world.
"What is that?!" Harry opened his eyes wide and looked at the sky in shock.
Draco's expression changed completely and his lips trembled slightly.
"…It seems that someone has cast the spell of 'Reappearance of the Corpses', causing the Dark Mark to appear in the sky." There was undisguised fear in his voice.
"The Dark Mark...what do they want to say? To announce that Voldemort is back?" Harry gasped.
Amanta looked up at the sky, and her heartbeat, which had just calmed down, began to beat again.
Although I was mentally prepared, I still felt a chill that penetrated into my bones when I saw it with my own eyes.
Not far away, the rioting Death Eaters also saw it, but after they saw the Dark Mark in the sky, they all fell into panic.
They fled in all directions as if they had seen something extremely terrifying.
"What are they running for? Isn't this their symbol?!" Harry looked at them in confusion.
"That's why they ran because it was their symbol," Draco gasped and said with difficulty, "Harry, use your little brain and think about it. Why are they wearing masks?"
"Because they're afraid of people finding out who they are?" said Harry unconvinced. "Is that necessary? But what does that have to do with their fear of the reappearance of the dead?"
Amanta sneered, "Because launching the Dark Mark means confirming their identity - Death Eaters. If they are caught, the crime will be serious. Voldemort has not returned yet, and no one will pay for them."
"Humph, what a 'loyal' subordinate." Draco said disdainfully.
But no matter what, the appearance of the Dark Mark completely broke the situation.
Everyone saw the huge sign in the sky, which made the rioting crowd even more panicked and desperate.
Fortunately, the Death Eaters were retreating in panic, and a large number of Aurors from the Ministry of Magic arrived and provided rapid reinforcements.
Amanta looked coldly at the mark in the night sky, frowning slightly.
In the original story, it was Barty Crouch Jr. who launched the "Reappearance of the Corpse".
But now little Batty is in jail, so who cast the spell today?
The noise around us gradually faded away, and the screams and chaotic footsteps became less and less frequent.
Only sporadic whimpers and sobs were left echoing.
Harry wiped the dust off his face: "Are they... gone?"
Amanta looked around warily.
"Not sure." She answered in a low voice, her eyes sweeping across the smoking tent not far away, "Don't let your guard down, there may still be Death Eaters who haven't left."
Draco found a tree and leaned against it. Cold sweat oozed from his forehead and his face turned pale. He took a deep breath and said, "The mark doesn't hurt anymore. Wait a little longer and we'll try to go back."
"Amanta! Harry! Draco!" A familiar voice sounded behind him.
The three of them turned around suddenly and saw a tall boy running towards them from the direction of the woods, his chestnut brown hair messed up by the night wind.
It's Cedric!
He looked like he had just escaped from a fierce battle, his clothes were covered with ash and his hair was messy.
He propped himself up on his knees, breathing heavily, and stopped in front of them.
Seeing that they were all safe and sound, Cedric finally breathed a sigh of relief: "Thank God, you are okay."
"Wait." He looked through them and saw Narcissa who was unconscious behind the three of them. "What happened to Mrs. Malfoy? Is she okay?"
Draco shook his head: "Mother was just weak and couldn't stand the shock, so she fainted."
"That's good." Cedric completely relaxed and wiped the sweat from his forehead.
"Cedric, how are you?" Harry stepped forward and looked him up and down. "You look like you just got into a fight with a bunch of lunatics."
Cedric smiled bitterly and shook his head. "Don't mention it. The chaos just now was worse than I thought. I saw the signs you sent out, but the road was too chaotic. It took me some time to go around the woods and get here."
He frowned, as if those scenes made him feel extremely painful: "Many people were tortured terribly... Some people's companions disappeared, some were burned, and even... Some were even controlled by the Imperius Curse and were almost forced to attack their own families."
Hearing this, Harry's face darkened instantly and he clenched his wand tightly.
"These guys... are crazy!" he raged.
Cedric smiled bitterly, "I tried my best...but I can't help everyone."
Amanta patted his shoulder: "You've done a great job, Cedric."
"Yes!" Harry bit his lip and racked his brains to encourage him. "It's so dangerous, it's good enough that everyone can take care of themselves. You can also help others. It's amazing!"
Cedric smiled sheepishly: "No, I just... did what I could."
Draco thought for a moment and asked him, "What's the situation now?"
Cedric took a deep breath and calmed down his emotions: "The Death Eaters have almost retreated, and the Aurors from the Ministry of Magic are cleaning up the mess. We can go back now."
"Finally..." Draco sighed softly and helped the still unconscious Narcissa to her feet.
Cedric nodded and looked towards the camp: "Let's go, I'll escort you back."
"Thank you, Cedric." The three of them looked grateful.
